Miss Universe 2018 will be the 67th Miss Universe pageant. Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters of South Africa will crown her successor at the end of the event.
Background
The Miss Universe Organization (MOU) attempted to have Miss Universe 2018 be hosted in China. However the negotiations collapsed after China reportedly refused to broadcast the pageant live. The Philippines, which were the host the Miss Universe 2016, is also being tapped by the MOU to host the 2018 pageant.
In April 2018, then-Philippine Tourism Secretary Wanda Tulfo Teo talked with Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte of the possibility of hosting the pageant in Boracay in November 2018, which by then will be newly rehabilitated after being closed to tourists for six months. On May 6, Tulfo-Teo announced that the Philippines has a "90 percent chance" of hosting the pageant and also disclosed that the tourism department will be looking for sponsors, since the LCS Holdings Inc. of Chavit Singson, the major sponsor of the Miss Universe 2016 has begged of from financing the 2018 pageant.
