In a political sense, the term Afghān refers to all the peoples of Afghanistan. From a more limited, ethnological point of view, Afghān is the term by which ethnic Pashtuns are designated by Persian-speakers. Additionally, the language of the Pashtuns is known as Pashto or Afghān language. Though there has never been an official sensus made in Afghanistan, after pashtoons 65% of the population, Tajiks make the second largest ethnic group in Afghanistan with an estimated 15% of the total population.
