Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Shortcuts
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level Request unprotection Request a specific edit to a protected page Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here Request edit |

Avon, Indiana (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protect the article. While the original IP address editor was blocked via the request a few down, there is still a second IP address that continues to delete the section. Since I would be in violation of the 3RR, I cannot even restore the article without jeopardizing my own account (and I am not the only user who has had to revert these edits). There is reason to believe that this is either the same person using two different IP addresses or it is two people working together to disrupt the integrity of the page. Any help at all would be much appreciated. Thanks! --pIrish 17:24, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

Semi-protect. New and anonymous users keep vandalizing the name of the person - removing words, adding words, and so on. It happens a few times a day, every day. AW 16:18, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
Indian caste system (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Full protection Many reversions over what is supposedly "unhelpful information." BhaiSaab 16:13, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- Fully protected, pending review of situation. -- tariqabjotu 16:46, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- Unprotected Looking at the situation the edit war is exceedingly trivial. The page was just unprotected about two weeks ago, and since there are primarily only two parties engaging in edit/revert-warring, I just warned them about potential 3RR violations. -- tariqabjotu 16:58, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
Avon, Indiana (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection article continues to have an important section deleted by several anonymous IP addresses. No reason is ever given for why they continue to delete the section and there is no response when questioned, they only delete it again and have once added a personal attack within the edit. --pIrish 15:21, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- The user has been blocked from editing. Nishkid64 15:33, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
Marc Lépine (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection article is being subjected to daily vandalism by a dynamic IP inserting false information about these murders, specifically calling them a "counter attack to the feminist war on men" and asserting that there is an international holiday celebrating the murderer. It's been going on for more than a week. Dina 15:10, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

Semi-protection requested. The singer of the band that the article is about often uses an anonymous IP to post original research that has nothing to do with the band. He treats the article as if it is a blog to express his philosophical views. He doesn't necessarily edit on a constant basis, but he is persistent and shows no indication of stopping this behaviour. Current requests for unprotection
ShortcutsBefore posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Hiatt Baker Hall (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Page was previously protected with redirect to University of Bristol, requested unprotection which was granted ca. 20th March 2006. Have made various edits to the page since then. Returned on the 28th of november to update the page in light of recent, published, news to find that the page had been changed back to a redirect to University of Bristol by user:Proto. Reverted and added news . As of the 29th of november the page had been reverted and protected by User:Proto.
I believe this page should be reinstated because:
- Four other University of Bristol Halls have pages;Wills Hall, Churchill Hall, Clifton Hill House and Goldney Hall
- The pages of Churchill Hall, Goldney Hall and Clifton Hill House are in no way more substantial than that of ]
- Contrary to Proto's belief the hall is notable due to it's size (it is the largest UoB hall of residence) and it's infamy

- Not unprotected I suggest you speak with Proto about that. --Majorly 18:08, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
Taiwanese people (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Unprotection, as the same people are spreading the views and refusing to compromise. They are blocking and protecting all pages relating to Taiwan and the Taiwanese people. I think this is politically motivated. I just want to remove politically sensitive material from these pages, but they refuse. I don't know whether they are working for the PRC or the KMT, but their views are not objective. Its political leaning favors PRC. I've repeated showed evidence that Taiwanese are not Han Chinese based on DNA evidence, but they refuse to listen and keep putting the term Chinese back to describe Taiwanese, which is erroneous. I feel the ethnicity of Taiwanese is for native Taiwanese like myself to decide, rather than Chinese on the Mainland. The Taiwanese language is different from the Chinese language. I've tried to point out the Taiwanese is ethnically unique based on culture and language. And that the only reason people on Taiwan speak Chinese today are because of 50 years of rule by colonizers. Had the Japanese won World War II, the people would have been considered Japanese, according to their view, because the population would now be speaking Japanese and enjoying Japanese culture. Also, these editors ignore that fact that most Taiwanese still speak Taiwanese language as their mother tongue at home, not Chinese. By allowing these biased individuals to protect the page, you are giving them the incentive NOT TO COMPROMISE since they feel they control the board. Please unprotect this page for this reason. Current requests for significant edits to a protected page
ShortcutIdeally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Demographics of Taiwan (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
'Unprotection, since there have been editors imposing politically disputed views in this page, more specifically that Taiwanese are Han Chinese. During a recent article, a full 66% of Taiwanese reject the view that they are Chinese, but these people continue to impose their views that Taiwanese are Han Chinese. I've tried to mediate without much success. I've suggest a compromise. I've even offered DNA evidence that showed that Taiwanese, mainly Hoklo and Hakka are descendents of the Yueh peoples, not Han Chinese from the North. My compromise would be that the term Han Chinese not be used, because the term Han Chinese is very misleading. Now, they have protection on this page and I can't do anything to remove what I think is misinformation. The views about Taiwanese people being Chinese is politically charged because that is the view that the PRC wants us to believe and could be used to justify their claim to the island. So if possible, could you help me remove the term Chinese or Han Chinese from this page. Thank you. Taiwanbest 16:50, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

TOTSE (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection There is currently a 'feud' going on between the members of Totse and a televangelist, and they have taken to vandalising the Totse article for whatever reason. It should calm down in a few days. Rhoody 08:17, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Crop circle (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Full protection. User:Tommysun has been flaming on the talk page for this article, with various highly dubious 'evidence' of unspecified anamolies around crop circles. He has recently been adding this material to the article, with no support from other editors (one of his main reasons for including the material was that no editors had objected, or, more likely, had bothered to respond to the flaming). I at one point debunked all of the 'evidence' he offered, over the course of several hours and iterations. I eventually concluded that he would not accept any of mine, or other editors', reasoning, and ceased to reply in hopes of the flaming eventually dying out. I am loath to request a block on Tommysun, because he has not blatantly vandalized, but I request protection of the article until there is an obvious consensus, either for his additions or against them. I personally am against them, but if there were consesus for addition, I would not object. Based on his pattern of taking absence of disapproval as approval, I suspect that he will keep adding the contested material in the absence of protection. Michaelbusch 08:12, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Demographics of Taiwan (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection, this is the other page that needs semi-protection. 71.106.x.x refuses to join the Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Taiwan co-ordination and claims to be a "Watchdog" with others monitoring Taiwan-related pages. This is not constructive to work outside a team especially when he joins in at the last hour of the edits to insert politically motivated wordings. Semi-protection is needed to prevent anonymous users making political statements. They can't be bothered to register on Misplaced Pages, can't be bothered to join the project group, it just shows there is no commitment to work constructively and that their purpose is one of politics only. Please semi-protect the pages. — Nrtm81 07:41, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
