I'd be willing to scan just about all of the NASA stuff if it's really only 500 pages or so. Do you want me to send it back when I am done? I was thinking some of the documents might be better OCR'd and converted to wikitext articles, if they are predominantly textual. My scanner can scan up to legal size. I have a question about the above mentioned picture. You state it was taken by Utopium Photography, yet you claim to be the copyright holder. Just like wedding photos, the married couple do not hold any copyrights, or infact any rights to the photos. ] (] ]) ] 23:30, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
:Dude... you have absolutely no idea what the hell your talking about. In the US, works for hire cannot be registered for copyright by the creator. See :
::Under the 1976 Copyright Act as amended (title 17 of the United States Code), a work is protected by copyright from the time it is created in a fixed form. In other words, when a work is written down or otherwise set into tangible form, the copyright immediately becomes the property of the author who created it. Only the author or those deriving their rights from the author can rightfully claim copyright.
::Although the general rule is that the person who creates a work is the author of that work, there is an exception to that principle: the copyright law defines a category of works called “works made for hire.” '''If a work is “made for hire,” the employer, and not the employee, is considered the author. I agree that the way I worded it, it sounded like he mixed his own records. Another thing I find in the German Misplaced Pages is that an individual article is more likely to represent a coherent unit that will fully explain a subject. English Misplaced Pages is too quick, in my opinion, to divide articles up all over the place, frequently without creating an adequate summary in the originating article. And this frequently results in everything being ignored. See ], for example. ] 23:31, 29 April 2006 (UTC)
:Its interesting to note specific examples however... we happen to have an FA on Colditz Castle in Germany... their article for it was a bare stub. It now is a mere translation of some of the articles content (that I spent several days researching/verifying sources and translating from german to english...) While I agree the DE wiki tends to have a better overall editing unit, I think the fact that EN had a featured article on something local to them that was a mere stub for almost a year until it was fixed up shows that both still have a ways to go. ]]] 02:15, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
:: There'll always be such situations, where a foreign article is much better then the "domestic" one (especially when it comes to Wikipediae with a very low article count). Your example seen vice versa: ] vs. ]. --] 03:23, 26 January 2007 (UTC)</div>
I came across that article when checking ]. It looked like a translation so I've checked ] and my facial expression is best described with "WTF?!" Feel free to ] (because I still don't know which are fitting pages to link that one in de.WP). --] 03:38, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
==Your support of Yandman==
Alkivar, your support of ], particularly the "based on who's doing the opposition" part, is prompting reaction from the opposers that doesn't help the candidate you're supporting. Please consider striking that part so that it doesn't unnecessarily cost the candidate any support. Thanks.--] ] 10:23, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
==Blocking of ]== | |||
Hi. CyberAnth was removing unsourced statements from ] that asserted that he dropped out of university and that he admitted he was wrong about a statement he made. That seems well within the instructions at ], and such edits are explicitly not included in ]. I suggest that you have blocked someone one week for following policy, and I'd appreciate it if you reconsidered. ] 06:02, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
:CyberAnth still violated WP:3RR... there's removing content, then theres ignoring all discussion and continuing to remove content. He also pulled a WP:POINT on several other articles... he needs a timeout, his judgement is off. While I grant you that some of the content he removed from Rush Limbaugh was probably a worthwhile removal, his methodology was bad. Doing something wrong for the right reasons is still doing something wrong. ]] <span style="font-size:130%; background:yellow; border:1px solid black;">☢</span> 06:12, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
::] edits are exempt from the ] -- I really don't think that this block protects the project, and seems to suggest that people who are working on BLP should be worried about being blocked because people who don't like the policy edit war unsourced statements back in. I really don't think we should be sending that message, which is why this kind of editing was exempted. ] 06:19, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
: Regarding the blocking of CyberAnth, I would ask you to take a look at the dispute on the ] page, particularly regarding verison of the page, which was repeatedly reverted to a stub with all manner of policies cited. When asked to expalin how the policies, especially ], applied to that particular version of the article he was either evasive or gave som opinions on the ideal state of a biography article that isn't really part of the policies mentioned.
: ] appears to be picking up the baton on that one, and though I beleive him to be operating under a misconception rather than any particular bad faith. ] 06:41, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
As a fellow admin I just want to let you know that I have reviewed CyberAnth's edits and I fully support your decision. -- ] 07:43, 28 January 2007 (UTC) |
