He appears in Episode 1 of the series. Kane is obsessed with hunting ] (in the Japanese version, he hunts '']'', a mythical kind of snake).

===Hana Takamine and Seitaro Takamine===
'''Hana Takamine''' (高嶺華 ''Takamine Hana'') is Kiyo's mother, while '''Seitaro Takamine''' (高嶺清太郎 ''Takamine Seitarō'') is Kiyo's father. Mr. Takamine is a professor of Anthropology (who is currently on a sabbatical in England), while Mrs. Takamine is a Japanese housewife. Both of them are very worried about their son's social ineptness, and both of them want him to become more sociable. Seitaro Takamine is the one who first saved Zatch in England, while in Japan, Hana Takamine is the one who takes care of both Zatch and Kiyo. Hana Takamine appears in the first episode of the series, while Seitaro Takamine appears in episode 20 (although his voice is heard as early as episode one).

In the English version of the series, Hana Takamine is voiced by ] and Seitaro Takamine is voiced by ]. In the Japanese version of the series, Hana Takamine is voiced by ] and Seitaro Takamine is voiced by ].

===Mr. Nakata and Wife===
The main teacher of Kiyo, Kane, Iwashima, Marylou, Suzy and Yamanaka. He has a wife who often appears unexpectedly in his class. Her name is also unknown, but is called "teacher's wife" by Suzy (in the Japanese version, she asks Suzume and Gash to call her "Wife"). Although he seems like a kindly old teacher when Kiyo and his friends were in 8th Grade, he makes a stark transformation when they enter 9th Grade, becoming wrinkled and much grimmer due to the trials of his life. In the original version, the teacher's first name is Shuju and the wife's is Sabae.

In the Japanese version, Mr. Nakata is voiced by ], and his wife is voiced by ].

In the English version, the math teacher is voiced by ], and the math teacher's wife is voiced by ].

===Naomi===
'''Naomi''' (なおみ) is Zatch's biggest challenger off of the demonic battlefield. Her main goals in life seem to be preventing Zatch from making friends, beating up on Zatch, and basically causing as much emotional and physical pain as possible for the little mamodo. Yet, despite the seemingly endless list of evil qualities, Naomi does seem to have a few redeeming values deep down inside. She always seems to have her teeth clenched all the time, and has a toy car she drives around in. According to Kane, Naomi lives in the same neighborhood as him, as mentioned in Episode 32. She also seems to get along well with Tia, as seen in Episode 40. It seems that both Naomi's parents have clenched teeth, as seen in chapter 257 in the manga.

Naomi first appears in episode 4. In the English version of the series, she is voiced by ]. In the Japanese version, she is voiced by ].

===Hiroshi Yamanaka===
'''Hiroshi Yamanaka''' (山中浩 ''Yamanaka Hiroshi'') is one of Kiyo's friends. He plays baseball.

Marylou is Suzy's best friend. She is part of the choir and is good at ].

'''Yuuta Akiyama''' (秋山勇太 ''Akiyama Yūta'') is a young boy that Kiyo and Zatch meet at the Mochinoki Hospital. He has broken his leg, and it has taken him an abnormal time to heal. When Kiyo makes a rather insensitive remark regarding this fact, Yuuta gets angry, and decides to take revenge by stealing Zatch's book. Yuuta appears in the sixth episode of the series.

Yuuta's name is rendered as ''Yuta'' in the English anime, and ''Yuuta'' in the English manga.

===Albert===

'''Ivy Kinoyama''' is the caretaker of Mochinoki's Botanical Gardens. She has known Kiyo ever since Kiyo used her gardens as a refuge from the intense bullying he faced at school. Ivy's biggest regret is that she wasn't a better friend to Kiyo when he needed her. Ivy appears in the seventh episode of the series.

===Mr. Toyama===
'''Mr. Toyama''' (富山先生 ''Toyama-sensei'') is one of Kiyo's teachers who has a grudge against him for never showing up to class.

'''Nana Baba''' ('''Baba Anan''' in the original) is a very tall and large old lady that Zatch meets one day. She is trying to find her son's fianceé, named Hiromi, and Zatch helps her do so. She gives her a ring that was in her family for generations. It should be noted that the food she makes are quite big, as seen when she was handing out her lunch to Zatch when he lost his to Naomi.

She is voiced in the original Japanese version by ].

===Professor D'Artagnan===
He is a colleague of Seitaro Takamine. He dresses in fish or insect costumes.

The reason is in fact that his secret identity is the Fairy of the local forest, and actually rescues Gash from a hoard of rampaging snakes at one point.

He is voiced by ] in the Japanese version and by ] in the English version.

===Kory===
A boy that Zatch and Kiyo meet in England. His parents were kidnapped by Steng for confronting him about his terrorization of their town. He gets injured escaping from one of Steng's "Ghost Knights". Later on, Kory steals Kiyo's luggage and he gets chased across London by Zatch. Seitaro, Kiyo's father, was also kidnapped by Steng, although he was hired by ] to do so. When Kiyo defeated Steng's mamodo, Baltro, and frees all the kidnapped villagers, he also rescued Kory's parents who had been taken to the lowest part of the castle. In Japanese, his name is '''Sekkoro'''.

He is voiced by ] in the Japanese version, and by ] in the English version.

===Naomi's friends===
Naomi has a group of friends. They are Hideaki (ヒデアキ), Kogoro (コゴロウ ''Kogorō''), Kazue (かずえ), and Yoshiko (よし子). Their names never come up in the English version.

In the English Version, Hirofume is voiced by ], Kogoro is voiced by ], and Hideaki is voiced by ].

===Princess Marie and Oren===
Princess Marie is a princess of Karnoir who is weary of the royal lifestyle and often runs away; Orem is her hapless bodyguard. She has a striking resemblance to ], and exchanges dresses with her in order to run away while visiting Japan. But the Princess has a hit out on her from those who don't want a woman ruling their country. Known as Princess Maryl and Calam in the Japanese version.

In the Japanese version, Princess Maryl is voiced by ] and Calam is voiced by ]. In the English version of this series, Princess Marie is voiced by ] while Orem is voiced by ].

===Rushka and Lilly===
Ruska is a young girl whose parents have died. She lives with an old lady named Lilly. Kanchomé had encountered her and been her "big brother." When it came to the part where Fredo and his mamodo Bargo were stealing their sheep, Kanchomé decides to fight them after an embarrassing defeat from them. With Folgore's help, Kanchomé rescues the sheep and returns them to Rushka.

In the Japanese version, Rushka is voiced by ] and Lili is voiced by ]. In the English version of the series, Rushka is voiced by ] while Lilly is voiced by ].

===Praying Mantis Joe===
Praying Mantis Joe (or ''Kamakiri Joe'') is the hero of a TV show, whom Zatch idolizes. It's actually a bald headed man in a mask named Yabuki.

Praying Mantis Joe is voiced by ] in the Japanese version (who also voices Brago) and by ] in the English version (ditto).

===Kotaro Doronma===
Kotaro Doronma is a horse-faced con-man who's also known as Phantom Thief Doronma. Ponygon encountered him in his search for his book's owner thinking he's his book keeper. He and Zatch help him pull off multiple robberies under the pretence that it was to help the poor as charitable and then head off to a millionaire's mansion. After Zatch and Ponygon set off every alarm in the mansion, the police were there on the scene and Kotaro Doronma is arrested. When asked about Ponygon's book, Doronma didn't know what language it is. An ] was later made about this character.

In the English version of this series, Kotaro Doronma is voiced by ]. In the Japanese version, he is voiced by ].

===Jeff and Jeff's Grandfather===
Jeff is a boy that Sherry and Brago rescue from a large bear alongside his grandpa. Brago says some things to encourage Jeff to be brave. When it came to a land developer (voiced by ]) and his men and Jeff being the bravest he can, Sherry and Brago rescue them and fend off the developers (and an avalanche they caused).

In the Japanese version, Jeff is voiced by ] while his grandfather was voiced by ]. In the English version of the series, Jeff is voiced by ] while his grandfather was voiced by ].

===The Majestic Twelve===
A league of American superheroes hired by Dr. Riddles to combat Zatch and Kiyo. They are later pitted against some ] that were with Byonko, but revealed to be quite incompetent in doing so. However, it was enough for the Ancient Mamodo to let their guard down.

In order of introduction, they are:
* '''Lightning Eye''' ('''Two-Lighting Eye''' in the Japanese version), who shoots lasers from his eyes;
* '''Rocket Foot''' ('''Rocket Hood''' in the Japanese version), with a top speed of 300 km/h;
* '''Flying Beet''', born able to soar the sky;
* '''Second Sight''', a man with clairvoyance;
* '''Dinosaur Arm''', with the strength of a dinosaur;
* '''Future Wonder''' ('''Wonderful to the Future''' in the Japanese version), who can see into the future;
* '''Psychic Jungle''' ('''Psycho Jungle''' in the Japanese version), a wild barbarian who can throw lightning;
* '''Fire Elbow''', who can use ];
* '''Lady Susan''' ('''Big Boing''' in the Japanese version), who smells nice (a bit like lavender). Her Japanese name refers to her oversized chest, upon which her attack involves bouncing it up and down to distract everyone. She is the most prominent of the twelve, consistently seen alongside Dr. Riddles.
* '''Blizzard Thing''', a youth who can summon ice;
* '''Tremor Mole''', who can travel freely through the ground; and
* '''Telepathy Radar''' who commands them all and enhances their powers.

In the original, Telepathy Radar is voiced by ], Wonderful to the Future by ], Second Sight by ], Psycho Jungle by ], Dinosaur Arm by ], and Big Boing by ].

===Mrs. Monmon===
'''Mrs. Monmon''' (モンモン先生 ''Monmon-sensei'') is well-endowed youthful teacher that Mr. Toyama hires to throw Kiyo off his studies. She likes to sing and dance and constantly quizzes the class on haiku; Kiyo's haiku gets a 30% score from her.

In the Japanese version, Mrs. Monmon is voiced by ].

===Ponygon's Mother===
Ponygon's mom is seen a very few times and as flash back such as when she was making the rope for Ponygon's book and calling him Schneider.

===Black Knight===
The Black Knight's duty is to protect the 101st book and to capture the one that stole it.

===Principal of the Mamodo School===
The Principal of the Mamodo School is the one who decides which 100 mamodo can go to the human world. He is one of the oldest mamodo in existence, and sleeps constantly. When Kiyo and Zatch return to the mamodo world in the first movie, the Principal tells the Zatch how he, such an unlikely candidate for the mamodo battle, ended up in the fight. A ball that Zatch was playing with crashed through his window, and the wind from the open window blew away Wiseman's acceptance form, which was just about to be stamped for entering the battle. The principal saw that only Zatch Bell's had stayed on the desk, and decided that he would do. During the events of the movie, the principal trusts in fate that Zatch was MEANT to be a contestant in the battle for king, and that he had made the right choice.

===Okame===
Okame is a friend of Mopu and acts as a taxi-service for Zatch and company.

===Owl===
Owl is the Black Knight's companion and like most of the other mamodo he can speak.

===Mopu===
Mopu, the talking mop, lives in the mamodo school.

===Dr. M2===
Dr. M2, the mamodo scientist that created the Mecha Vulcans. He based them on a mechanical Vulcan prototype made by a future Kiyo. Impressed with Kiyo's intelligence, Dr. M2 travles back in time to when Kiyo was partners with Zatch, to make Kiyo HIS partner and teach him his "magic science," of which the doctor is the only user of in the mamodo world. After his capture, and after M2's explanation of his mission and where he came from, on of Kiyo's first questions for the doctor is who the current mamodo King is, hoping for Zatch to have made it in his kind king quest. Dr. M2 only answers that he is uninterested in the "outdated battle," and does not elaborate any further.

===General Rajin===
A leader working alongside the king of the mamodo, his main duties are watching over Zeno and training him to prepare for the eventual mamodo king fight. He possessed the rank of Lieutenant at the time.

===Yuno===
Not much is know about this individual, except that she looked after Zatch while he was in the Mamodo world. It seems that she tended to mistreat Zatch

===Zatch's Mother===
The queen of the Mamodo world and Zatch and Zeno's mother.

===Unnamed Winged Ancient Mamodo===

The mamodo from a thousand years ago that defied Zofis's orders. Zofis threated to turn him into stone, but only did it half-way. According to Pamoon, he was an example of Zofis's cruelity and what happens if they defied him and this is the reason why he fights.
