@MSport1005 @Rpo.castro In my opinion, the info box should be kept. Just because the infobox is titled "WEC Race" doesn't mean it's usage should be limited to non WEC Races (Le Mans is a WEC race after all) The facts that "This is not like any other WEC race. Almost half the entry is invitational, LMP2 is non-WEC, and class winners are often non-WEC entrants." become irrelevant 1. Because of my previous point and 2. because the info box adds useful information (that "Le Mans races" doesn't) i.e race winner, pole position etc. An info box is there too provide info easily. The Grand Prix race report box is used on all F1 races, why can't WEC race be used on all WEC races. SimplyLouis27 (talk) 21:17, 13 June 2024 (UTC)
All that useful information is covered in prose, right in the introduction. This is a hefty change that should be discussed before being proactive and adding it yourself. And if added, this infobox should be BELOW the Le Mans infobox. MSport1005 (talk) 22:27, 13 June 2024 (UTC)
I don't get the point. The purpose of the infobox is to provide easy access to information, not new information, so as any infobox, all the information will be also in prose (or it should). With a infobox I don't have to go search for hundreds or thousands of lines of prose to look for the key points such distance covered, date and winners. Most important race events like F1 races have an infobox like this, 24h Le Mans main article has an infobox (with information you will find in prose). 24H of Le Mans is a WEC race and besides the template is prepare to present the winners of different classes such as LMP2 and LMP2 Pro-Am, so its another point I don't get it. And finally why should the act of adding an infobox to an article be subject of a discussion at Motorsport project? Isn't like a major modification, there isn't anything being removed, just added and which is an improvement. I completely disagree with you and I don't think I did anything wrong improving this article adding and infobox suited for WEC races. Rpo.castro (talk) 00:57, 14 June 2024 (UTC)
