José Maria Garcia Maldonado (born March 24, 1979) is a Mexican priest of the Catholic Church who was appointed as auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Chicago in 2024.
Early life
Garcia Maldonado was born March 24, 1979, in San Julián, Jalisco. He immigrated to the United States in 2001 and joined seminary for the Archdiocese of Chicago in 2002 at Niles College Seminary. In 2003, he entered Mundelein Seminary. On May 17, 2008, Garcia Maldonado was ordained to the priesthood.
Episcopacy
Pope Francis appointed Garcia Maldonado auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Chicago, assigning him the titular see of Fallaba on December 20, 2024. Garcia Maldonado is scheduled to be consecrated as a bishop in early 2025.
