Hi! I was the editor who placed the speedy deletion tag on the recently created ] article that you later deleted -- which was a good decision, IMHO. However, due to a recent semi-conversation with the creator of the article (see , , and ), I think I need to review my original decision to place a speedy deletion tag on the article -- not that I think that I was wrong to do so, but so that I can be sure about my thinining process, and, to be honest, I don't remember the article too well. Would it be somehow possible to (temporarily) get access to the article that was deleted, perhaps putting it in my userspace, just so I can take a look at it? Should I be approaching you about this? Hello GoD,
Seriously - I don't get the problem with the links. I have had hundreds of hits since I added them and not one single complaint. The site isn't commercial, its just free advice, with lots of other useful & relevant links. It is useful to all people with WRS and it was linked to relevant sites only.

] '''Guideline and policy news'''

* An ] about increasing the inactivity requirement for Interface administrators is open for feedback.

] '''Technical news'''
I don't run the WRS site as it happens. I hope that you have acted in haste and that you will reconsider these actions in a more sympathetic fashion.
* Pages that use the JSON contentmodel will now use tabs instead of spaces for auto-indentation. This will significantly reduce the page size. ({{phab|T326065}})

== Administrators' newsletter – April 2024 ==
== my link additions to Deadliest Catch that were removed ==

] from the past month (March 2024).
Thanks for letting me respond. If you could read this and let me know what you think I'd appreciate it. In response to my connection to the "other" user that added in the link previously...that was me. I had to create another user name and password as I couldnt log on after trying 3 times. However, I wasn't the person who originally created the category "unofficial sites". I've read through the American Idol and Star Trek sites I mentioned and what I see on the Star Trek site is external links that are definitely not official such as a tourism vulcan themed website and another site of fanzines. On the American Idol site, the very last listed website is Vote for the worst.com. I went to that site and it has absolutely nothing to do with American Idol as far as I can see. I can also explain a little bit more of my site (which is the only one I am interested in listing. There were 2 others but they're no relation to mine).

]
If Thom Beers created a blog or a fansite it would definitely be official but he hasn't...No one has. If this show were as long lasting as Star Trek there might be many official fansites and if it were as popular as American Idol, then there might be multiple "official" sites as well, but there's not. Mine is the only existing fansite that IS unbiased when it comes to Deadliest Catch. It's simply about the show--Deadliest Catch. It is by definition a blog, yet it's designed like a website with multiple pages. There is nothing there I sell or advertise. There are only a few sites listed in wikepedia for this show--the actual individual fishing vessel websites and they only promote and provide information in their own interest, and likewise, the Discovery Channel website also only promotes the show in reference to itself. My site on the other hand, includes many many press releases, photos, tv schedules, topic connected links, and other general information/topics that are connected to Deadliest Catch such as Alaska, the Bering sea, seafood recipes, etc...So if www.deadliestreports.wordpress.com doesn't qualify as an unofficial site or external link, could you possibly add a See Also section? how would I go about re-making the page on him that you deleted?
would I be able to create it if I got him to become a user of Misplaced Pages?
or would I have to get him to create one on himself, although it would make it difficult because it is better to be done from the third-person perspective, because otherwise he will be made to seem as he is just being vain...
I made the page for him, but wasn't sure how to go about it, because I couldnt put it in MY user page, and it seems I cannot make a page on him because he is not notible enough?

== Invitation to participate in a research ==
== Good work! ==

Hello there. Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Misplaced Pages, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this ''''''.
Random note, but you must be very successful at ridding this place of vandalism - my user page was recently vandalised by someone annoyed at my reversions of their vandalism, and kept pasting my page with suggestions that I should engage in... inappropriate acts with yourself.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.
Good work! :D ] | ] 21:20, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

Dear Gogo, as of lately I have been interested on checking out my company's wikipedia page, however when I searched for it, I saw that it didn't exist. As disapointed as I was, I decided to create a page for it, however I soon realized that it had been created....3 times before, I would like to know why my company, ] Corporation's wiki was deleted 3 times. Can you take a look at ]'s history? He seems to be raising notability concerns on ''every'' television episode he comes across without any discussion. He's done this to many articles, including mass deletions without discussion (more or less because "it's obvious it doesn't belong") and I'm concerned that his contributions are damaging Misplaced Pages as opposed to helping.
:Also, I do have proof that Calumet, Colorado did exist. I have an old Microsoft Streets and Tips program that I thought I threw away long ago. On a hunch I loaded it and checked if Calumet indeed existed and it found it. Would a screencap from that help if I make an article? -] 22:56, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
::One more note. Checking your talk page it would seem I already expressed my concerns here. I didn't remember doing so and thought this was the first time. At any rate, if the user isn't being disruptive then please disregard that part of my message. I don't want to appear like a wikistalker over something that's not a problem. -] 23:15, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

In case you haven't noticed, a user brought up a part of the criteria which I completely forgot about: "The list brings together a group of existing ''articles'' related by well-defined entry criteria", which the list clearly fails. However, the user didn't oppose it, which could still be a good thing. -- ]] 23:38, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

== Calumet And Why You Never Heard Of It ==

I got you confused with Lucky. I now remember I discussed it with him. :) Anyways, in the movie ], it supposedly takes place in a town of Calumet, Colorado. In real life, I've heard it to be a ghost town. However, none of the maps I have today seem to show it. So I googled it and came up with very few results, one admittedly saying such a place doesn't exist.
*However, two other sources did prove Calumet is an actual ghost town there: http://www.placesnamed.com/c/a/calumet.asp for the location and this site: http://pyrite.geo.stonybrook.edu/spectral-database/spectra/index.htm seems to say that this town used to mine ].
*Just recently, I came across my old Microsoft Streets & Tips dvd of my old laptop. I thought I had discarded it, but since I had it I checked to see if it were work on new laptop and it does. I typed in "Calumet, Colorado" one day out of curiosity and lo and behold: where Google Earth and Yahoo Maps failed, Streets & Tips found it. It's the same coordinates at the link I showed you has.
*Well I just divulged pretty much all I have on Calumet. Is it enough for a bare bones article about a ghost town? -] 18:52, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Invitation to participate in a research

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Misplaced Pages, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team

ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Misplaced Pages arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
