==Ossetians==

Chuture? I noticed your notes on Kobers talk page. Indeed, there are more Ossetians who live outside of so called South Ossetia and majority of them ar enot hostile to their Georgian brethren, just yesterday there was a demonstration in Netherlands where both Georgians and Ossetians protested against Russian attempt of annexation. In 1992, many Ossetians went on hunger strike in Moscow and demanded Russia to cease its meddling in their affairs and provoking ethnic tension between them and Georgians, i remember delivering them Borjomi during their hunger strike in Moscow. You are correct, Ossetians are related to Iranic speaking peoples, as their ancestor Alans can verify. But they are not Persians or Iranians, however linguistically they belong to Iranic-Persian language group. Babakexorramdin can you help us on ]? Russians are storming that articles and implant POVs all over the article. Im gathering sources so i can correct many mistakes there. Khodakhofis! ] (]) 22:42, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
:::: We did not say that Ossetians are Persians or citizens of Iran. They belong to the Iranian speaking ethnic groups. I will come to South Ossetia to see what we can do.Are these the Americans who use their biased sources to push their POV all around the world, these are Russians who do this in the former Soviet Union. == Colchis & A Question ==

Iberieli, I responded to you on my talk page, but I just wanted to make sure you got my reply, so I'm posting it here. I hope you don't mind:

<blockquote>
I'm well, thank you. The term used in period in Latin (at least for the late Republic onwards) appears to have been "Colchis", and, sometime around the 2nd century AD, "Lazica". I think you can find mention of this in Polybius. The use of "Colchis" is attested in the Lewis Short Latin Dictionary with citations from ancient authors from which you should be able to pull dates (available online at the Tufts "Perseus" Project). Good luck!
</blockquote>

The Perseus-Tufts online classics project will be really useful for you if you are not using it already. The system is not as well-designed as wikipedia, but there is a huge amount of source material available.

I also wanted to ask you a question. I posted an image of Shota Rustaveli to that page, and mentioned on the talk page there that I'm trying to figure out the origin of a kind of metal purse cover shaped like a shield that was common in the Caucasus up until the last 75 years or so. You seem to be well-connected with the Georgian community so perhaps you might be able to help. You can of course see the image I posted at the Shota article, but I should also say I've seen similar plates or plaques with religious imagery. I've even seen them with old photographs of family members. As best I can tell, they went on the cover of a small, flat, belt purse. If it is possible to find out more about these (as well as to find citations) I think this subject could form the basis of a very interesting article on one aspect of Caucasian culture. In fact I may even be able to get a few photos of a few more examples. If this sounds interesting to you, let me know what you think. --] (]) 15:13, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

== Mirian III ==
Heh. :) I've contibuted very little to that article, but I presume this legend originates in the medieval chronicles. It is obviously false. We'll need to rewrite the article on Mirian to draw a clear line between reality and myths. Great that you noticed that. :) --]] 06:27, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

:Yes, it is really confusing and it took me quite a while to summarize the conflicting views of Mirian’s origin ]. : )) I don’t know any modern scholars who take Mirian’s descent from Khoseow I of the Sassanids (not Shapour as it is stated in some sources) as the historical truth. The early modern scholars such as Dowling and Brosset simply follow the medieval chronicles, which are frequently anachronistic and fused with mythology, especially in its portion related to pre-Christian and early Christian Georgia. Toumanoff believes that the legend which makes Mirian son of the Great King of Iran is a reflection of his descent from the Iranian Mihranids. The Mihranids were a noble house, but not a royal one. Hence, the medieval writers might have exaggerated Mirian’s Iranian ancestry so as make him of royal stock. One the other hand, Prof. Melikishvili and his followers in Georgia argue that Mirian’s Iranian ancestry, be it Chosroid or Sassanid, is a pure fiction and he was actually of local, Georgian, origin, whose descendants forged a legend of foreign royal ancestry to enforce their legitimacy on the throne of Iberia. Personally, I found Toumanoff’s arguments compelling, but still not sufficient to establish Mirian’s origin from the ]. == Byzantine empire map ==

Hi. Thanks for your compliments and I want to apologize for answering you so late. My map of the Byzantine Empire in 1045 was inspired by a Romanian map of 1981 which showed Apkhazeti (there named Abkhazia) and Georgia as two sepparate countries. User ], who also wrote on my talk page about this map, said that Apkhazeti was by that time united with the rest of Georgia. I have made some modifications but I'm still not fully convinced that it is correct. I want to know your opinion about the current version of my map. Thanks and please feel free to use the map anywhere as long as you credit me for making it. ]

Re: help

I am sorry but I am not an administrator, if that is what you were looking for.
A few admins I deal with frequently include User:Acalamari, User:Jj137, User:Kafziel, and User:Pedro. A full list of admins may be found here, in the unlikely event that none of those users are on right now (check their contribs).
Also, please note that while removing warning notices from your talk page is discouraged, it is not prohibited. What I would do if I were you is wait and see if the user vandalizes again after their final warning. If they do, report them to WP:AIV.
If you have any further questions, or if you were not looking for someone with administrator tools, please feel free to message me. Thanks, and Happy Editing! J.delanoyadds 14:08, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Ossetians

Babakexorramdin can you help us on South Ossetia? Russians are storming that articles and implant POVs all over the article. Im gathering sources so i can correct many mistakes there. Khodakhofis! Iberieli (talk) 22:42, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

We did not say that Ossetians are Persians or citizens of Iran. They belong to the Iranian speaking ethnic groups. I will come to South Ossetia to see what we can do.Are these the Americans who use their biased sources to push their POV all around the world, these are Russians who do this in the former Soviet Union. Then it becomes an unfair game, those who control the Media have produced more sources and they create a fake sense of objectivity. --Babakexorramdin (talk) 06:41, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Colchis & A Question

Iberieli, I responded to you on my talk page, but I just wanted to make sure you got my reply, so I'm posting it here. I hope you don't mind:

I'm well, thank you. The term used in period in Latin (at least for the late Republic onwards) appears to have been "Colchis", and, sometime around the 2nd century AD, "Lazica". I think you can find mention of this in Polybius. The use of "Colchis" is attested in the Lewis Short Latin Dictionary with citations from ancient authors from which you should be able to pull dates (available online at the Tufts "Perseus" Project). Good luck!

--Picatrix (talk) 15:13, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Mirian III

Heh. :) I've contibuted very little to that article, but I presume this legend originates in the medieval chronicles. It is obviously false. We'll need to rewrite the article on Mirian to draw a clear line between reality and myths. Great that you noticed that. :) --Kober 06:27, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Yes, it is really confusing and it took me quite a while to summarize the conflicting views of Mirian’s origin here. Personally, I found Toumanoff’s arguments compelling, but still not sufficient to establish Mirian’s origin from the House of Mihran. The more you learn about Georgia’s history, the more mysterious it becomes, does not it? : )) Kober 20:14, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Here's a detailed discussion of Mirian's reign in Melikishvili's compilation. His criticism of Toumanoff's theory is in footnote 3. --Kober 20:18, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Hello Iberieli. the transelate will be შალომ ლექულამ! მა ნიშმა geagea? ათა მედაბერ ივრით? anyway youe Hebrew is very good. you made great job on the article of יהודי גאורגיה (იეჰუდეი გეორგია). are you learning Hebrew? can you read hebrew?

I made the article in the Hebrew wikipedia so I can help. some notes:

  • first the georgia jews were divided to Ashkenazi Jews ( the local jews call them აშქენაზიმები) that came during the World War II and setteld in Tbilisi, and the local georgia jews.
  • the תפליסיים (თიპლისიიმ) are Karaim. the are minor part of the jewish people and it omly assumed thet they were from tbilisi because of one of the name of the founder "musa al-zafrani" was "musa al-tfilisi". I made artice about them ]. anyway it is not a major issue.
  • in the Middle Ages: Marco Polo visit Georgia in 1272 and mentioned a small community of jews in Tiflis. the Georgian chronicle tells about didi vachari (დიდი ვაჭარი), Zankan Zrubavel, thet been send by Tamar of Georgia to Russia to bring her son-in-law that it belived he was jew.

in 1328 bestow Alexander I of Russia to the katolokos patriarkh Dimitrius, 27 femilies of jews according to the feodal custom. this alexander repression the jews. the jes in that period were Serfdom and the masters were the authorities the church and the feodal master. the value of jew as Serfdom was big because they engaged in commerce and labor and not only farmers.

  • there were two major blood libel in Georgia, that generally have no tradition of blood libel. in 1850 in Surami and in 1878 at Parvisi near Sachkhere, the was famos. after the blood libel in Sachkhere were riots in Kutaisi (1895). The writers Sergey Meskhi and Anton Portseladze condem the riots anainst the jews.

thats for now. sorry for the English. if you read hebrew you can see articles of reserches in Hebrew her. also I made articles about jews by city in Georgia he:קטגוריה:יהדות גאורגיה, for example the jews of Lailasi - he:יהדות לאילשי, the jew of Akhaltsikhe - he:יהדות אחלציחה ect...

Georgians

Hi Iberieli. Could you help update the Georgians’ collage if/when you have time? Currently, the images are arranged somewhat anachronistically. We can also expand it and make it of smaller images along the lines of the French people mosaic. What do you think of it? Best, --Kober 19:25, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

I’d suggest organizing it as follows:

1st row:

1. Peter the Iberian (the same pic)

2. Vakhtang Gorgasali

3. David the Builder (let’s have the Gelati image, rather than the currently used 19th-century one)

4. Queen Tamar (I’d prefer the Vardzia mural which is the earliest and best preserved of Tamar’s extant portraits)

5. Shota Rustaveli (stays…)

6. Erekle II ( or

2nd row:

1. Ilia

2. Vazha

4. Mikheil Javakhishvili

5. Pirosmani (let’s have at least one painter)

6. Zakaria Paliashvili

3rd row:

1. Kote Marjanishvili or Sandro Akhmeteli

2. Ivane Javakhishvili

3. Kakutsa

4. Sergo Zakariadze

5. Merab Kostava

6. Paata Burchuladze

Please make the changes in this list you deem necessary. :) --Kober 19:40, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed you've been involved in editing the Ethnic cleansing of Georgians in Abkhazia article. I discovered that it says "Between 10,000 to 30,000", but it's hard to verify the two sources that are cited. In fact, the second one, Federal Practice: Exploring Alternatives for Georgia and Abkhazia doesn't seem to mention the 30,000 figure at all (p. 32, , ). Do you know whether the majority of third party sources say this? I was looking at articles from the International Crisis Group and Human Rights Watch and they don't seem to go this high, and was wondering if you had any sources confirming this figure. Byzantine empire map

Hi. Thanks for your compliments and I want to apologize for answering you so late. My map of the Byzantine Empire in 1045 was inspired by a Romanian map of 1981 which showed Apkhazeti (there named Abkhazia) and Georgia as two sepparate countries. User Kober, who also wrote on my talk page about this map, said that Apkhazeti was by that time united with the rest of Georgia. I have made some modifications but I'm still not fully convinced that it is correct. I want to know your opinion about the current version of my map. Thanks and please feel free to use the map anywhere as long as you credit me for making it.

The Official Mediation request for the Roman Map case

A request for formal mediation of the dispute concerning Historical map of the Roman Empire in the article "History of Georgia (country)" has been filed with the Mediation Committee (MedCom). You have been named as a party in this request. Please review the request at Misplaced Pages:Requests for mediation/Historical map of the Roman Empire in the article "History of Georgia (country)" and then indicate in the "Party agreement" section whether you would agree to participate in the mediation or not.

Mediation is a process where a group of editors in disagreement over matters of article content are guided through discussing the issues of the dispute (and towards developing a resolution) by an uninvolved editor experienced with handling disputes (the mediator). The process is voluntary and is designed for parties who disagree in good faith and who share a common desire to resolve their differences. Further information on the MedCom is at Misplaced Pages:Mediation Committee; the policy the Committee will work by whilst handling your dispute is at Misplaced Pages:Mediation Committee/Policy; further information on Misplaced Pages's policy on resolving disagreements is at Misplaced Pages:Resolving disputes.

If you would be willing to participate in the mediation of this dispute but wish for its scope to be adjusted then you may propose on the case talk page amendments or additions to the list of issues to be mediated. Any queries or concerns that you have may be directed to an active mediator of the Committee or by e-mailing the MedCom's private mailing list (click here for details).

Please indicate on the case page your agreement to participate in the mediation within seven days of the request's submission.

Thank you, Aregakn (talk)

Pls put your agreeing sign on the mediation request to take this issue forward. I want to remind you that you were "threatening" me with this process, so that is why I am sure you eager to participate. Aregakn (talk) 22:01, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Hello Iberieli, I'm contacting you because we need some Georgian translators to help with the deployment of the new VisualEditor on ka.wikipedia. There are help pages, user guides, and description pages that need translating, as well as the interface itself. The translating work is going on over on MediaWiki: Translation Central. I also need help with a personal message for the Georgian Wikipedians. If you are able to help in any way, either reply here, or head over to TranslationCentral. Thanks for your time, PEarley (WMF) (talk) 17:35, 31 July 2013 (UTC)
