Hi, I understand your frustration and I'm sorry to see you leaving over the issue. For a long time Misplaced Pages had a higher tolerance for fair use images and as a result there are many. A lot of them violate fair use laws and prevent us from being a truly "free" encyclopedia. As a result, there has been a crackdown as of late and it has driven a lot of users away. However, it must be done and there are reasons for sizing the images down, etc. There are also many sources of free images but some articles (like articles about movies) will never have free images. --] ♫ ] 15:13, 14 September 2007 (UTC) | |||

:I have no choice but when I am unblocked, I will have to get rid of all my uploaded photos and quit uploading photos of pictures that I took unless it is a picture of me or something I have been to. I found out that the rule has been on there for the entire life of wikipedia. I only did high res pics for information and not for piracy. If you think I have did piracy, I'm sorry. ::Stco23, of course any pictures that are free (ie, that you created of something you have been to, or that you took of a famous person, and so on) can be high resolution. But when an image is "]", this means it is not free to use because someone else owns it, and so we have to use a low res picture. I don't think anyone thought you were guilty of piracy here, just perhaps you didn't understand the rules. As I can see you now do understand the rules, that's good. :I'll first give you my personal opinion: I don't think the DVD covers would add much in the article (I fixed my link). There's some controversy regarding the usage of DVD covers to illustrate articles. I checked ] for example and there is none. I think that's the safest way to go (our goal is to produce a 💕, and putting fair use images might cause legal problems one day or an other). That being said, if I were you I would extend the ] section if you have more information (#of episodes, ...). You could also go for a whole ], ordered by airing date if you have the time :). Fair use rationale for File:Rgbfull.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Rgbfull.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Misplaced Pages articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Misplaced Pages:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Misplaced Pages policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? — pd_THOR | 05:59, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
