Hi Phillipe. I notice you reverted my changes. Did you read the talk page before coming to this decision? as this was a change that has been discussed in detail and the changes I made were the course that we decided on. Please can you either come onto the talk page and discuss your reasons against the changes or revert your change back.

You also mentioned editorialising. I was under the impression that this meant I am presenting my own opinion? If you look closely, all of the information I have included is either a quote from the reference or a simple matter of fact "leading wicket taker" for example, is not a matter of opinion.

I appreciate your input into this matter, but we are trying to improve this page and constantly having edits blocked is slowly progress to a crawl.

Thanks ] (]) 14:14, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

I apologise if my referencing was not clear enough, but if you follow the link I gave, you will see that Shane Warne was voted into the "all-time XI" by a panel of experts on cricinfo.com. This means he is considered to be at very least amongst the top 5 bowlers of all time.

If you leave the change - or indeed have any further suggestions - I will try and tidy up some of the more wishy washy wordings this afternoon. ] (]) 14:23, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

I usually give it 10 minutes; that's more than enough time. If it goes beyond that, it's the creator's fault; that may sound very harsh, but it's hard enough to keep up with NPP as is without having to wring our hands over articles like that. It would have gotten a refimproveBLP tag at the time anyways, which tilts me towards doing something regardless; if there had been better sourcing, I'd have tagged it refimproveBLP, because there was none I G11ed it. We don't need more badly referenced BLPs floating around. You'll also note that I tagged it G11, which is completely different, has nothing whatsoever to do with notability, and absolutely fit at the time; that someone did work on it is good, but that's highly unusual with pages like this; I've tagged ''thousands'' of these, and that's the 5th time I can remember this happening. I am very open to criticism, but please make sure you're criticizing me for the ''right thing'' next time. ] (]) 00:18, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

As a new user, I actually took the time to learn things before I started trying to do them; made my mistakes, but I waited about 11 months to create my article so I'd know what I was doing. == Editor Advise: Bandicoot_(database) Removal ==

Hello Philippe, I am seeking for an editor advise regarding the removal of the ] page. When the page was deleted, you have commented on our ], so I thought that I will seek for an advise from you.

The reason for removal is code G11: unambiguous advertising or promotion. I cannot see how the text which was written there could be regarded as an advertisement (for an open source project?):

<blockquote>Bandicoot is a truly relational database management system written from scratch in C. It provides a new programming language, simple transaction management, and HTTP interface. The system is distributed under the terms of the Apache License.</blockquote>

May be this is the word "truly" which caused the confusion, but this is the term used on the Misplaced Pages itself (]), to distinguish from the SQL databases which are indeed not fully relational.

I am indeed the author of the system and also the creator of the page, but does it really qualify for removal with the code G11? Truly relational community is extremely small, and yet it is in direct competition with the popular these days NoSQL databases and also the SQL databases supported by many vendors. The list of databases mentioned above serves as one of the very few points for computer programmers to look for alternatives. But as you can see from that list, most of the systems from truly relational group are either built for educational purposes, are libraries, or also have been removed (e.g. Aldat), leaving not very positive impressions for a reader, even though there are attempts to improve the situation.

The article was indeed very short, and I am more than happy to provide more content and references. I am even happy if the page could be simply removed so that this shameful G11 code does not appear there. If you have time, I would really appreciate to hear your opinion on this.

Regards,
] (]) 15:36, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

Hi Philippe, saw that you blocked the Misplaced Pages article on Tamara Toumanova for editing. Just wanted to note that there is an inconsistency: the first sentence notes that she is of Polish and Armnian descent, while article then goes into a fair bit of detail that she is in fact Polish and Georgian, so I think the two sentences got mixed. The first one should say Polish and Georgian descent and in later comments note that few sources also claimed her Armenian heritage. Hope this helps. --] (]) 23:26, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Spin bowling

Note: this content was moved from my Foundation account.

Thanks Py0alb (talk) 14:14, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

I apologise if my referencing was not clear enough, but if you follow the link I gave, you will see that Shane Warne was voted into the "all-time XI" by a panel of experts on cricinfo.com. This means he is considered to be at very least amongst the top 5 bowlers of all time.

If you leave the change - or indeed have any further suggestions - I will try and tidy up some of the more wishy washy wordings this afternoon. Py0alb (talk) 14:23, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

POV and BLP

Hi. What exact was the problem with the edit you undid here. That how the article was titled, anyone can check on the sources. Am I missing something? --Damiens.rf 19:44, 25 March 2011 (UTC)

Albert Verrecchia

I usually give it 10 minutes; that's more than enough time. If it goes beyond that, it's the creator's fault; that may sound very harsh, but it's hard enough to keep up with NPP as is without having to wring our hands over articles like that. It would have gotten a refimproveBLP tag at the time anyways, which tilts me towards doing something regardless; if there had been better sourcing, I'd have tagged it refimproveBLP, because there was none I G11ed it. We don't need more badly referenced BLPs floating around. You'll also note that I tagged it G11, which is completely different, has nothing whatsoever to do with notability, and absolutely fit at the time; that someone did work on it is good, but that's highly unusual with pages like this; I've tagged thousands of these, and that's the 5th time I can remember this happening. I am very open to criticism, but please make sure you're criticizing me for the right thing next time. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 00:18, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

If it takes more than 10 minutes to write an article to the standards of en-wiki, that's too long? Have you actually written an article? Ironholds (talk) 05:21, 26 March 2011 (UTC)
Yes. I took the time to get everything set before I hit save. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 05:25, 26 March 2011 (UTC)
And how long did it take you? How long do you think it would've taken you if you were brand new? Ironholds (talk) 05:26, 26 March 2011 (UTC)
Minus the infobox (which I just about never see newbies use)... probably around, oh, 10 minutes, 15 at most. Granted it's not the greatest example, given that places are inherently notable, but my point stands. As a new user, I actually took the time to learn things before I started trying to do them; made my mistakes, but I waited about 11 months to create my article so I'd know what I was doing. It wouldn't have taken me a whole lot longer as a new user, except I would have had to figure out the ref tags. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 05:30, 26 March 2011 (UTC)
So you estimate it probably took you as-much-as-or-longer to write an article, after almost a year here, as you are willing to give a newbie. Does that sound fair? Ironholds (talk) 05:32, 26 March 2011 (UTC)
I'm not looking for perfection in new pages, I'm just looking to see some hope of it being a decent article. If I wanted to write Noh Poe to the level of a typical newbie, it would have taken me 2 minutes, but that would be rather pointy of me. I'm wrong every so often; it happens to all of us. This was one of those instances. For things that I do see some hope for, I'll either tag it as necessary or, if I know something about the subject (as in Chihiro Iwasaki), I'll take some time to do it myself. Does that clarify what I'm getting at? The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 05:39, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

European wildlife

Hello! User:Danny Worker posted a helpme asking why European wildlife was deleted, so I looked at it. You deleted it, saying that it was a copyright infringement of this page. I'm not familiar with wikibin, but it calls itself the "recycle bin of Misplaced Pages". Just by looking through their list of articles, it looks like they're actually the ones mirroring Misplaced Pages, not the other way around. The website seems similar to Deletionpedia, where they are hosting articles that have been deleted from WP. Is this correct? If so, the article should be undeleted, and perhaps wikibin should be contacted to get the licensing figured out... Thanks! – GorillaWarfare 16:33, 13 April 2011 (UTC)

I was just coming here to comment about this same thing. Wikibin does just host copies of deleted Misplaced Pages articles, so there's not a copyvio issue since the history can be found and restored to correct the attribution. Usually, though, anything that matches is G4'able. As in this case: European Wildlife had Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/European Wildlife. VernoWhitney (talk) 18:02, 13 April 2011 (UTC)

Dear Philippe, I respect your decision at Vasectomy Talk, and I believe it was the right decision at the time, but the problem has not been resolved, and I seem unable to manage on my own the intimidating behavior and unsourced point-of-view edits that are being inserted by Dijcks. It has become necessary for me to seek third-party intervention. The original request for full protection may be appropriate at this time to provide oversight for any edits that may have unsourced point-of-view claims. Protecting (even semi-protecting) an article is a drastic step to take - it limits participation on the encyclopedia that anyone can edit. So the vandalism that we see is not sufficient for that level of protection at this time. - Philippe 08:37, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

ANI

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Misplaced Pages:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. Ironholds (talk) 19:19, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

Editor Advise: Bandicoot_(database) Removal

Hello Philippe, I am seeking for an editor advise regarding the removal of the Bandicoot (database) page. When the page was deleted, you have commented on our discussion with administrator RHaworth, so I thought that I will seek for an advise from you.

The reason for removal is code G11: unambiguous advertising or promotion. I cannot see how the text which was written there could be regarded as an advertisement (for an open source project?):

Bandicoot is a truly relational database management system written from scratch in C. It provides a new programming language, simple transaction management, and HTTP interface. The system is distributed under the terms of the Apache License.

May be this is the word "truly" which caused the confusion, but this is the term used on the Misplaced Pages itself (List of databases), to distinguish from the SQL databases which are indeed not fully relational.

Regards, Ocherkashin (talk) 15:36, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

british council protection

hi philippe - just curious, you said there was not enough interuptions to justify protecting the page. this one IP had over 30 edits in the last two weeks, many of which were section blanking and the like. see here. not sure why this is not 'enough'.... if you could enlighten me, i would appreciate it. thanks. Soosim (talk) 10:40, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

Sure, typically there have to be a number of vandalism edits in the day that it's being requested, and a few previous, to qualify. A period of the last two weeks is quite a long time, and protection is a drastic step to take. We can block individual IPs, etc, and still leave the encyclopedia open for editing. - Philippe 10:56, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

Deletion explanation

Hello Philippe, back in 2007 we had created an article for our Company (Wendigo Studios) and I'm wondering if you remember why you've deleted it? I want to re-create it but I don't want it to be deleted again so I don't want to include any information which could be against the Misplaced Pages rules. Furthermore, do you have any idea how I can get the content of the deleted article?

Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pysavard (talkcontribs) 16:04, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

Hi there - it looks like I deleted it because the article did not claim notability, by our standards (which can be found at this page). There are some guidelines there for creating an article on a company, so you might want to read that, but also to read our policy on editing with a conflict of interest. If you have any questions, I"m happy to help out! - Philippe 19:09, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
PS - I'll put the content of the deleted article at this page. - Philippe 19:10, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

The Misplaced Pages Game

A discussion about improving Misplaced Pages's help documentation inspired an idea--tutorials would be best if they were interactive and immersive. The thought of a learning-teaching game came up, one based on a real interface with realistic 'missions'. Would you be interested in providing some feedback or helping work on it, or know some editors who might? The idea is just getting started and any assistance with the help/policy side, the experienced-editor side, or the coding/game-making side would be great. Cheers, Ocaasi 04:02, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

About deleted article "JETAA" - what editor was I discussing this with?

Hey Philippe!
I discussed this now deleted article with the editor who started the article on its (now deleted) talkpage, including an explanation of why I had cut out all the WP:COPYVIOs from www.jetalumni.org.
To be quite honest, I don't agree with your "No explanation of the subject's significance" CSD rationale, but that's something that is irrelevant here - yep, I'm fully aware that "Deletion review" is thataway.
I of course can't see which fellow editor I discussed the article with. If it's allowable, could you possibly let me know who it was I interacting with? I do understand if you can't. (Full disclosure: OK, so I was a "JET")

Hi Philippe, and thanks for the reply. Now looking over my contribs and with your help I am now able to see the editor I was discussing this with. Thanks for the WP:USERFY offer, but if I remember rightly, all the deleted content was pretty much a copy-and-paste from the JETAA website :-( I'll have a word with User talk:Tayl3270 about all this. --Shirt58 (talk) 10:45, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
Of course. Happy to help. Let me know if there's anything else I can do. I'm happy to help with evaluating references or formatting, if you'd like, in such a way as to demonstrate notability. - Philippe 21:00, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

You're welcome. Also, I visited your WMF account and left a few messages. Didn't realize you had multiple accounts. Thanks again, A user who has been editing Misplaced Pages since Thursday, October 28, 2010. 22:06, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

request

Hi, I wonder, if you could delete this too? There's no use to keep this now because the article was speedy deleted. Thanks.--Mbz1 (talk) 04:19, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

Um, Philippe

Is RickK2 a sock or impostor of RickK? If he's a sock, notify me. If not, don't notify me. nymets2000 (t/c/l) 02:09, 27 August 2011 (UTC)

Dexter (TV series)

Please explain how much disruptive activity is required to justify a temporary semi-protection. There is one week left until the new season begins, and I can assure you that you will see more of those attempts to add nonexistent information. Please reconsider, thank you very much in advance. Edit

--Archie Zuckermann (talk) 23:26, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

A pie for you!

Thanks for the birthday message. Allow me to point out that if I'm old, well then, that makes you even more advanced, doesn't it ;) A fluffernutter is a sandwich! (talk) 04:11, 2 October 2011 (UTC)

Your deletion of 'Hillside primary school lower early reading'

Hi Philippe, you have speedy deleted the article Hillside primary school lower early reading under the criterion of A7. Please note that A7 has an exception for not including educational institutions. BTW: Lower Earl_e_y Reading is not a somhow confused title of a school, it is part of an area in England. I'm aware that the article was shoddy. Bye --Ben Ben (talk) 12:27, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Indian Babu

I just reverted your edit on Indian Babu as the only reference IMDB is a dead link. :) ♛♚★Vaibhav Jain★♚♛ 12:45, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

That's an incorrect decision. There are many references in Google... it just needs to be ref'd. - Philippe 13:41, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
Hi Philippe! Maybe there is some misunderstanding, if u see the article, it says some famous actors as the cast, whereas per information on , this movie was a minor one. That is why i marked it as a hoax, Please correct me if i am wrong, and sorry for reverting ur edit. :) ♛♚★Vaibhav Jain★♚♛ 13:52, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
Even then, if the movie is notable (which it appears to be) then the information just needs to be corrected... we wouldn't delete for that.  :) - Philippe 13:54, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
I will do that soon, thanks for correcting my mistake, i am still a learning phrase. :) ♛♚★Vaibhav Jain★♚♛ 13:56, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
It's no bother. I'm glad you're interested in learning. Thanks for doing it. - Philippe 14:00, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

One&Other

Hi Philippe Sorry to see the page deleted for One&Other deleted. Please can you clarify the 'subjects significance' criteria? The publication is a web-based social enterprise - an online magazine for the people of York. One&Other also provide a variety community projects eg:Art Prize. They have been funded by Unesco. I would appreciate your help to make the original page happen?
