Philip entered the world in an unusual way. Unable to get pregnant, Kate went to the doctor's office to be implanted with Victor's sperm. The fertilized egg ended up in Vivian Alamain instead, and Vivian actually carried Philip to term, trying to get Victor for herself.

The next thing we knew, Philip was in high school, and was hanging out with fellow rich brats Jan Spears and Jason Welles. The three made a point of torturing new girl Chloe Lane, until Philip got a chance to see a different side of her, and fell in love. The relationship hit a snag when she falsely accused him of rape, and another snag when he dumped her after nude photos of her appeared at the Last Blast dance.
==Storylines== | |||
Philip was never able to get things going with Chloe again, and when he realized that she had found new love with ], he left Salem to join the military. He wasn't gone long though...he came back to town as part of the Love is Blind contest (he was the mystery hunk), and re-developed a crush on his good friend ].

Philip and Belle separate when it is discovered that ] is not his biological daughter, but they eventually reunite and try to conceive their own child through ]. Philip's sperm is switched with ]'s, resulting in Philip having a son Tyler with ]. Belle leaves Philip for Shawn and Tyler is later placed for adoption. Phillip begins dating ] and takes a more active role in running Titan Industries with his father. Tony is not dead and reappears in 2020. ] witnesses the scene and after being pressured by both ] and her father-in-law ] finally says it was an accident and Phillip is cleared of any wrongdoing. Victor becomes protective of Phillip once Stefano is consumed by grief and anger over Tony's death and threatens revenge against Phillip. While on a romantic trip with Stephanie, Phillip is shot and almost dies and everyone immediately suspects that Stefano ordered the hit as revenge for Tony's death.
Philip was more than just Shawn and Belle's high school chum though. In addition to being a dedicated military cadet, he was also secretly working for the ISA. He and Tek, a newcomer to town, worked hard to prove that Tony DiMera was involved in some nefarious dealings around town. Not only that, but Philip let his mother bully him into spending more time with Belle, whom by this point he was hopelessly in love with.
Philip and Belle got engaged, with Philip thrilled that he and Belle were going to be able to live their lives together. Unfortunately, just as they were getting engaged, Philip was being called to active duty in Iraq. The two moved up their wedding plans, getting married immediately before Philip had to ship out.
Even though she had married Philip, Belle was still in love with ], but she realized she could not leave Philip, after he lost his leg in Iraq. When Belle became pregnant, she thought the child was Philip's and they were both thrilled to be starting a family together. Nine months later baby Claire was born. Philip adored his daughter so much, that he wanted to have more children with Belle. They decided to undergo ] but alas Salem style, there was a mixup and Belle became pregnant with Shawn's child while Philip was expecting a baby with Mimi.
It was later revealed that Shawn was the true father of Claire. Philip couldn't take it; he blew up and ran out of the house with Claire vowing no one would take her away from him. Phillip later changed his attitude and vowed to be there for his wife, her daughter Claire, and her unborn child, even though he was not the biological father of either of the children. Philip and Mimi still had to make decisions about their baby, and the two signed their rights away to the surrogate. Philip and Belle eventually decided to end their marriage as they both knew they felt differently about each other. Heartbroken, Philip left Salem.
Unbeknown to everyone, Philip returned to Salem. However, he was badly burned and covered in bandages, reportedly due to an attack in Afghanistan. Philip had reenlisted, but due to his injuries, he was brought home by his father Victor. With extensive damage done to his face, Victor hired a doctor to give Philip an experimental face transplant. Until then, Victor has been secretly bringing Claire in to spend time with him. Although Philip has legal custody of Claire, after Victor paid off the judge, Shawn and Belle took Claire and fled to Canada. It wasn't too long before Victor determined that they were in ] and sent Philip and ] after them. There was a setback at the airport when a knife was hidden in Philip's luggage but he eventually made it to Canada where he was able to confront Shawn. Shawn was arrested for Claire's kidnapping. Philip told him that he was granted full legal custody of Claire because of the events of the kidnapping. He went to the shelter where Belle and Claire were hiding but Belle managed to sneak Claire out.
Philip has currently gone to more evil ways and has apparently forgot that he, Belle and Shawn where friends in the past. He blames them for everything that has happened in the time he was away from Salem, what still isn't known. He is obsessed with getting Claire and will do whatever it takes to get her. Even having someone to try and kill Shawn on the island Tinda Lau and working with the Dimera's. He recently kidnapped Claire and Belle and sailed into a storm. Shawn arrived on the boat by help of Steve and Bo and attempted to turn the boat around and head to safety. During this time, the boat's motor blew out and left Shawn, Belle, Claire, and Phillip stranded in the storm. Realizing that the future looked grim, the past was put aside and Shawn and Phillip came to terms with their situation and decided to share custody of Claire if they ever got back to Salem. Belle was overjoyed to see the two agree to be friends but this was short lived however as a wave ripped the boat apart. Phillip was able to grab Claire when this happened but another wave washed her away. He, Shawn, and Belle made it back to Salem where she had a dream from John that Claire was still alive. Phillip has now hired an investigator to find Claire and convinced Willow to take it easy on Shawn, who is the father of her baby. He told Belle that he would rather Shawn not know that he had done this; however. Willow had agreed to take it easy on Shawn but told him that Phillip is not his friend, planting seeds of doubt in his mind about the authenticty of Phillip's friendship. It has been suggested by Willow that Phillip is doing all this to get Belle back, which he denied. Shawn also believes that Phillip is after Belle when he offers to have Shawn and Belle move into the manor until Claire is found. Belle is all for the idea because if they are all under one roof they will be able to find Claire faster but Shawn is unsure, partly because of what Willow said. Belle finally convinces Shawn to it but he is still suspicious of Phillip and his offer.
Phillip recently learned that Lauren the surrogate hired in 2006 to carry Shawn and Mimi, but was actually his child with Mimi delivered a baby boy. He is on a mission to find his son. After finding his son, Philip gave him up to a couple wishing to adopt a child. Philip realized letting a family raise him would be best and that he wanted Tyler for the wrong reasons.

Philip Kiriakis is a character from Days of Our Lives, an American soap opera. Child actors portrayed the character of Philip until he was rapidly aged and returned under the portrayal of Brandon Tyler in October 1999. Tyler was quickly replaced by Jay Kenneth Johnson, who was in the role until leaving the show in December 2002. The character returned in May 2003 played by Kyle Brandt. After Brandt left the show in October 2006, Johnson returned to the role in January 2007 then left on April 20, 2011. In 2015, actor John-Paul Lavoisier was cast in the role; he was let go the following year, last appearing in December 2016. In 2019, Johnson reprised the role on the digital-only Last Blast Reunion series and returned to Days of Our Lives in August 2020; he later departed in December 2021. In August 2023, Lavoisier returned to the role before departing two months later; he resumed the role when Philip returned to Salem in October 2024.
Casting
Child actors Jonathan and Thomas Selstad and Shane Nicholas played Philip from the character's birth until the rapidly aged character returned in the form of Brandon Tyler from October 21, 1999, to December 24, 1999. He was then portrayed by Jay Kenneth Johnson from December 27, 1999, to December 25, 2002 and Kyle Brandt from May 14, 2003, to October 12, 2006. Johnson again portrayed Philip having returned to the role from January 12, 2007, to April 20, 2011.
In July 2015, it was announced former One Life to Live actor John-Paul Lavoisier has been cast as Philip, first appearing on December 10 of the same year, as part of the soap's fiftieth anniversary. In July 2016, it was announced that Lavoisier would vacate the role of Philip and would film his final scenes within the month. The actor's final appearance was slated for December 19, 2016. However, the date was pushed back to December 20, 2016. In November 2019, People announced that Johnson would reprise the role in the digital "Last Blast Reunion" series. In May 2020, it was revealed that Johnson would again reprise the role on Days of Our Lives; he returned during the August 18, 2020, episode. Johnson vacated the role on December 22, 2021.
On July 14, 2023, Soap Opera Digest exclusively announced Lavoisier would reprise the role in August of the same year; he returned during the August 28 episode. Months later, on October 6, 2023, it was reported that Lavoisier will depart the show along with Nadia Bjorlin; he last appeared on October 12, 2023. Lavoisier reprised the role when Philip returned at the conclusion of the October 25, 2024, episode.
Storylines
Philip is the biological son of Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston) and his fiancee Kate Roberts and the surrogate son of Vivian Alamain (Louise Sorel). He attends Salem High School before joining the military and marrying Belle Black. Later, he loses part of his left leg and has to wear a prosthetic. Philip and Belle separate when it is discovered that Claire Brady is not his biological daughter, but they eventually reunite and try to conceive their own child through in vitro fertilization. Philip's sperm is switched with Shawn-Douglas Brady's, resulting in Philip having a son Tyler with Mimi Lockhart. Belle leaves Philip for Shawn and Tyler is later placed for adoption. Phillip begins dating Stephanie Johnson and takes a more active role in running Titan Industries with his father. Phillip is seen as a disappointment by Victor and so he goes into business with Tony DiMera but, when they have an argument on the pier, Tony falls onto a sharp plank and dies at the hospital. Tony is not dead and reappears in 2020. Nicole Walker witnesses the scene and after being pressured by both Bo Brady and her father-in-law Stefano DiMera finally says it was an accident and Phillip is cleared of any wrongdoing.
Phillip has a one-night stand with Chloe Lane while he is married to Melanie Layton. Chloe gives birth to a boy Parker Jonas, whom she names after Daniel Jonas' mother's maiden name, since Daniel is assumed to be the father. Chloe and Phillip later believe (incorrectly) that Phillip is Parker's father, since Caroline switched the paternity test results. Melanie suffers a miscarriage caused by stress. Phillip leaves Salem for Chicago with Parker. Chloe later reveals that Daniel is actually Parker's biological father.
