In the first book, she has a shoulder length bob, then gets caramel-colored highlights in '']'', crimps her hair in ''Invasion of the Boy Snatchers'', receives hair extensions in '']'', and bangs in '']''. Later, in '']'' (which takes place during the first week of eight grade), she apparently grows out her bangs over the summer, and instead has long hair with a purple streak - which, for once, was not done by Jakkob, but rather by herself with a streaking pen stolen from the pocket of Anastia Brees, creator of Be Pretty cosmetics. In the Clique Summer Collection, we soon discover that the purple streak is a reward given to every Be Pretty salesgirl (her summer job, or "jobby," job hobby, as Massie puts it) topsellers, giving them access to the "5-star lifestyle." | |||

| In the first novel, Massie meets Chris Abeley, a fifteen-year-old who goes to Briarwood Academy, while trail-riding at Galwaugh Farms. She crushes on him, while thinking he likes her back. It is revealed towards the end of the novel that Chris already has a girlfriend -a ''"disgustingly beautiful"'' ninth-grade girl, Fawn. Massie promptly forgets about ever liking him, and vows to never act on a crush until she knows he likes her back for sure. | |||
| In '']'', she has a crush on Cam Fisher, an A-list Briarwood soccer player, but later learns that he likes Claire. Eventually, to win Claire's friendship back, Massie decides to let her have him. Then, in '']'', Massie develops a crush on Derrick Harrington (otherwise known as Derrington) after being informed by gossip-expert Alicia that he liked her first, even while she was crushing on Cam. (Derrington, coincidentally, happens to be Dylan and Kristen's ex-crush.) But in ''Invasion of the Boy Snatchers'', Alicia's cousin Nina Callas puts a phony ''"Spanish soccer spell"'' on a very gullible Derrington, (as well as Cam, Claire's boyfriend, and Josh, Alicia's crush), which forces the Briarwood soccer boys to stay away from the Pretty Committe if they want to win the big soccer game. In the end, however, Derrington comes back to Massie after recognizing Nina as a fraud. Massie gives him her purple rhinestone "M" pin after the losing game, explaining that it'll serve as his MVP pin - only without to V and P. In return, Derrington presents Massie with the Cupid Award that he and Nina won at the LoveStruck Dance. | |||
| In '']'', Massie lies about her love life to the members of Massie's Underground Clinic for Kissing (MUCK), in an effort to prove that she has more experience in relationships and kissing than Nina Callas - who, thankfully, has returned to Spain. But when her clients blab to Derrington about how Massie "went straight for tongue" the first time they kissed (even though they never did), he assumes that she cheated on him. In his anger, he throws the "M" pin that Massie had given him into the dirt. In a desperate attempt to get her boyfriend back and to prove her to the MUCK girls, Massie devises a plan to kiss Derrington in front of them - but to avoid doing it in front of the soccer team, with whom Derrington is always hanging out with, she brings him to a private area of the campgrounds while Claire (under Massie's instruction) and the girls spy. The plan works out perfectly, and Massie tackles Derrington to the ground, sharing their first kiss. Months later, in '']'', Massie is searching for the key to secure her 8th grade popularity - which means entering Derrington's room for the first time, because according to Alicias mysterious source, Skye Hamilton kissed him. (Derrington says he didn't kiss back though.) But when Massie looks in his room, she discovers, to her dismay, that Derrington is a total slob and wants nothing to do with him anymore. Nearing the end of the book, Massie is delighted to learn that Derrington cleaned his room for her, and they get back together again. | |||
| In ''Sealed with a Diss'', Massie and the rest of Pretty Committee spy on the boys during a secret class: ESP, which stands for Emotional Sensitivity Powwows. With the help of a TV (hidden in the secret room given to them by eighth-grade alpha Skye Hamilton) hooked up to a secret camera in the boys' classroom, Massie is shocked to hear that Derrington has an "issue" with her. She becomes overly stressed about this, and is having second thoughts about asking Derrington to an eighth-grade party hosted by (who else?) Skye. Analyzing him through Skye's eyes, Massie classifies him as "immature." In the end, she finds out his "issue" with her, which is, ironically, that he thinks Massie's immature. And to top it all off, he later sees Massie hugging Chris Abeley, when she was actually trying to set Chris up with Skye in a deal. Which would've succeeded if Chris hadn't started falling for Massie... and if Skye hadn't abruptly decides that she didn't like Chris anymore because he was such a "downer." | |||
| Hurt and angry, Derrington breaks up with Massie, and the Pretty Committee decides to never date boys thereafter. Little do the know how hard this'll be, because the Briarwood Academy boys will spend their next year at OCD after their school was flooded. In ''Bratfest at Tiffany's'', Massie declares a "boyfast", meaning no member of the New Pretty Committee was allowed flirt or crush on a boy. Especially not the soccer boys, who had dumped them all at Skye's end-of-the-year party. Unfortunately, Massie finds it hard to stick to her own law when her path crosses with ] (referred to as Humpty Dempsey in his LBR days), a non-soccer playing H(awt) A(lpha) R(ich),and T(oned) with an obvious crush on her. Massie secretly likes Dempsey Solomon but swears that their relationship is strictly "professional." In the end of the book, the boyfast finishes, but whether Massie will go after Dempsey remains unknown. | |||
| It is rumored that in the next book, ], Massie will play matchmaker to some of her friends and a few LBR's, notably a drama freak named Kyla, who wants to get together with her long time crush, Robert. Massie grows overly confident after successfully setting up Ashleigh with Mac, and Lauren with Lauro, but has a harder time with Kyla and Robert. Robert is noted for being attention-crazed, which only attracts Kyla to him more. At first Massie fails, but then takes credit when Claire makes Robert realize how much he likes Kyla. Later, unable to set up Dylan, Massie gives up on matchmaking for the time being. | |||
