I moved the page from Rodderick Toombs to Roderick Toombs; among other sources, Roddy's 2002 biography gives the correct spelling as "Roderick". --] 22:28, 28 Jan 2005 (UTC) |

Why not just Roddy Piper? Naming Conventions say to use the most common name. There doesn't seem to be any reason to use his real name.--] 03:33, May 20, 2005 (UTC) |

Rod learned his piping in his early teens, under the Pipe Master Jock Campbell in Scarborough Ontario, Canada. He was in a boy’s pipe band that progressed to be one of the best bands in the Highland Games in Ontario, Quebec and the northern states of America. He was a lovely friend of the Drum Major, George White, his wife Mae and family He was also welcome at our house, my brother Rob was also in the band with Rod. They practiced at the Scarborough Rec Centre at Warden and Ellesmere. We travelled with them to competitions, Fergus, Kingston, Kincardin,Maxwell,Alma NY,any weekend Games for the support of the band and the boys. Jock was a Master Piper from Scotland and my father was a locally taught piper from Toronto who believed in the boys, so he gave his help in teaching Rod was very accomplished, with many awards in competitions, as we’re all band members with their piers who were their elders Rod was always polite and curtious to all. The persona that he displayed , I believe is what he wanted to put out as hi act, not who he truly was God Bless You Rod, love Nance ] (]) 11:25, 12 September 2024 (UTC) |

Toombs is best known as Roddy Piper, and he seems to own the trademark, so there's no chance he'll stop using the name anytime soon (unlike many wrestlers). Therefore, there's no reason to keep this page at its current location. |
