Stavros, please don't leave. You've done some great work on Norfolk hotels. I've expanded ], easily meets requirements. The problem is that we do have some guidelines to hotels and 2 star and low quality guesthouses rarely cut the mustard. We don't have to cover ''every'' hotel and guesthouse but cover the more notable ones. Ibiza Rocks Hotel I'm pretty sure is notable and maybe the 3-star historic hotel in Norwich also up for deletion. Don't give in, let's try to save as many as we can huh?♦ ] 15:45, 9 April 2013 (UTC)

Well, you either grow a thicker skin or deprive yourself of contributing to a website which has obviously been an enjoyable hobby for you. If you leave they beat you and you lose out. There are ways to diminish difficulties with other editors, but I agree, people usually come looking for trouble rather than vice versa. I frequently have deletions to do deal with when I shouldn't have to, but unfortunately many people here are lazy and at times clueless. There is a staggering amount missing on Norfolk listed buildings, your choice, but I'd hope you'd still want to contribute regardless and remember that some editors here like what you do. ♦ ] 19:04, 9 April 2013 (UTC)

:::This pompous editor from Vancouver is enough to make anybody storm off in a huff! So many lazy editors on wikipedia who do nothing to help improve content and don't at least try to scout for sources. Generally I try to assume good faith and try to work with people, but when they resort to pass tagging and still continuing to argue their point long after it has clearly been expanded to meet GNG I turn sour. I've expanded the Manor hotel article too. Ibiza Rocks Hotel in the town is really not my thing but the sources have proven that its clearly notable at the AFD. Not really convinced on the notability of the other 2 star hotels in Norfolk. I think you'd be best avoiding those sorts of hotels, stick to the historic hotels and inns which are notable architecturally I think.♦ ] 21:17, 9 April 2013 (UTC)

::I do see that you have made positive contributions. I also see that you have a love of Norfolk, which can only be a good thing. These things were never in question. My attitude is that Misplaced Pages should be as good as it can be, and that includes adhering to MoS formatting guidelines, proper referencing, and correct use of English. It is for these reasons that I have eebn trawling through your back catalogue as, while you are an enthusiastic contributor, your edits often could benefit from a second pair of eyes. Please do not think this is personal; rather, use my corrections as hints about what you could improve on in future. ''']]''' 10:20, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

== River infobox ==

No worries, but if you do decide to stay, my advice would be to get rid of the lesser notable hotels in the Norfolk template, 2 star hotels are rarely notable unless they are listed buildings, even 3 star hotels may not be notable it depends but in my opinion do often tend to meet guidelines. 4 and 5 star are notable, stick to those first. Unfortunately hotels have a very hard time on wikipedia and even the most diverse and prolific of editors often reject them and show a disinterest in editing them. Me, I love historic and luxury hotels which have a long history/or and architecturally grand, but I admittedly feel rather different about the regular 2 star type hotels which every town has several of unless the buildings are really notable. ] in my opinion is priority for hotel work on wikipedia, those are really notable hotels.♦ ] 06:34, 10 April 2013 (UTC)
Hi Stavros. Perfectly good (in fact, pretty advanced) infoboxes already exist for rivers. The older {{tl|Geobox River}} is fairly widely used (see it at ], for instance) but has been superceeded by the newer, generic Geobox2 template. This is adapted to fit a river using the template pro formae located at {{tl|Geobox/type/river}}. To use the template just cut and paste the appropriate blank form (metric or imperial) into the article that you want to edit, then fill in the blanks (not forgetting to reference the information!). Hope that helps. ''']]''' 12:07, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Hi, Stavros. Thank you for your message. Usually, articles should not be in both a category and its subcategory. Categories like Energy in the United Kingdom, Wind farms; Wind power; Alternative energy etc are parent (upper level) categories for the category:Wind farms in the United Kingdom, and therefore should not to be added, so I would like to ask you to revert restoring these categories. I disagree with a lot of Misplaced Pages's policy, but at the end of the day I accept that it is a community project so some flexibility is required from everybody. I am not a representative of the UK Roads Project, merely an independent participant. All I wanted was to enter into sensible debate, rather than you simply removing the template again and again. As it stands, up until now I had not been in debate with you, save your remarks in the edit summary. Whatever discussions you had with other editors, I was not party to. Please do not confuse me with a project I happen to be a member of.
: I agree that putting on the template and doing nothing is not a viable option: what other action can you suggest? I personally think that the information contained within the route descriptions is useful, but I believe it can be presented in a better way. Maybe even if the same text was presented as a bullet point so that the overall route could be quickly scanned by the reader to get to the part of the road they want to find out information about. Editing the ] article today, I found it difficult indeed locating the part of the article I needed to change, both on-screen and in the edit box. If not a bullet list, then maybe a table with the left hand column containing a route section (A-B, B-C, C-D), then in the right hand side a description of about half a dozen lines for that section. Obviously the route would need to be divided up into sections accordingly, or descriptions perhaps kept a little more brief. &nbsp;—&nbsp;]&nbsp;<small>]&nbsp;|&nbsp;]&nbsp;]</small>&nbsp;—&nbsp;<em style="font-size:10px;">19:37,&nbsp;3&nbsp;May&nbsp;2008&nbsp;(UTC)</em>

Retired from wikipedia Please do not leave messages here they will not be answered  stavros1  ♣  06:16, 8 April 2013 (UTC)

April 2013

Hi Stavros1, "Dont let the buggers get you down".

Stavros, please don't leave. You've done some great work on Norfolk hotels. I've expanded Pikes Hotel, Ibiza, easily meets requirements. The problem is that we do have some guidelines to hotels and 2 star and low quality guesthouses rarely cut the mustard. We don't have to cover every hotel and guesthouse but cover the more notable ones. Ibiza Rocks Hotel I'm pretty sure is notable and maybe the 3-star historic hotel in Norwich also up for deletion. Don't give in, let's try to save as many as we can huh?♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 15:45, 9 April 2013 (UTC)

♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 19:04, 9 April 2013 (UTC)

Thank You. Will takes some time to think about your obsevations.  stavros1  ♣  21:09, 9 April 2013 (UTC)
This pompous editor from Vancouver is enough to make anybody storm off in a huff! I think you'd be best avoiding those sorts of hotels, stick to the historic hotels and inns which are notable architecturally I think.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 21:17, 9 April 2013 (UTC)

The Leading Hotels of the World in my opinion is priority for hotel work on wikipedia, those are really notable hotels.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 06:34, 10 April 2013 (UTC)

Stavros please stay. Your work is much appreciated. Other editors take a look at his Norfolk lifeboat articles. Don't let the buggars get you down. (Northmetpit (talk) 10:03, 11 April 2013 (UTC)).

File copyright problem with File:RMS Empress of Australia (1919).jpg

Thank you for uploading File:RMS Empress of Australia (1919).jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Misplaced Pages takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Misplaced Pages. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. ViperSnake151  Talk  19:00, 9 November 2015 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Toulouse Geese.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Toulouse Geese.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Misplaced Pages:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Misplaced Pages:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Misplaced Pages:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Misplaced Pages's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 21:05, 6 March 2016 (UTC)

Please claim your upload(s): File:Wayside Cross at Alymerton.jpg

Hi, Thank you, for uploading this file.

However, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure all media on English Misplaced Pages is correctly licensed and attributed it would be appreciated if you were able to confirm some details,

If it's your own work, please include {{own}}, amend the {{information}} added by a third party, and change the license to an appropriate "self" variant. You can also add |claimed=yes to the {{media by uploader}} or {{presumed_self}} tag if it is present to indicate that you've acknowledged the image, and license shown (and updated the {{information}} where appropriate).

If it's not your own work please provide as much sourcing/authorship information as you are able to.

It would also be appreciated if you could "claim" or update the source and licensing on other media you uploaded, You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

This will assist those reviewing the many many "free" images on commons that have not yet been transferred to Commons. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 12:49, 11 August 2016 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:H.M.S. Lizard 1916 fought in the Battle of Jutland.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:H.M.S. Lizard 1916 fought in the Battle of Jutland.jpg.

Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Misplaced Pages's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

File source problem with File:Northamptonshire Badby.png

Thank you for uploading File:Northamptonshire Badby.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Misplaced Pages. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Archaeological sites of Albufeira

A tag has been placed on Category:Archaeological sites of Albufeira requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. —swpb 13:44, 8 May 2017 (UTC)
