== Global warming and Kleroteria ==
Norman21, first the simple answer to the global warming question. The sun is a lot hotter than the earth, so the peak of the radiation of the sun is in the visible part of the spectrum and that of the earth is at a much higher wavelength. Both solar and terrestrial radiation is absorbed by the atmosphere, but the bulk of the sun's energy comes to us at wavelengths where the atmosphere does not absorb (except it does scatter blue - which is why the sky is blue, and sunsets - light excluding blue are red).
But the really big question, which you might like to ask, is why if CO2 absorbs IR, why it doesn't also emit it, and the answer is that it does emit IR and in considerable quantities and that helps to cool planet earth, another fact you'll not find in the biased climate articles in wikipedia.
As for Kleroteria - could you tell me a little bit about the article. (just write below) <span style="font-size: smaller;" class="autosigned">—Preceding ] comment added by ] (]) 16:09, 10 February 2010 (UTC)</span><!-- Template:UnsignedIP --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->
:Thanks for the explanation! The other day I came across another "hidden fact" - if it wasn't for the "greenhouse effect", the Earth would be a very cold place indeed. As for the Greek device, this is actually called a <i>kleroterion</i> and was used to select citizens for jury duty, one of the first mechanisms for random selection. ] (]) 16:36, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

== Copyright checks when performing AfC reviews ==
Hello {{BASEPAGENAME}}. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to ''you'' in particular.<p>The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when ] in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.<p>If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied ''from the draft'', rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the is very useful for sussing that out.)<p>If you do find a copyright violation, please ''do not'' decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Misplaced Pages to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using <nowiki>{{db-g12|url=</nowiki><tt>URL of source</tt>}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with <nowiki>{{subst:copyvio|url=</nowiki><tt>URL of source</tt>}}.<p>Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with ]; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.<p> I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--] (]) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).<p> Sent via--] (]) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Kleroteria
A tag has been placed on Kleroteria, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done for the following reason:
bad name, good name kleroterionUnder the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Misplaced Pages criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Janmad (talk) 11:54, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
Talk:Global warming
Thank you for your contributions to the encyclopedia! In case you are not already aware, an article to which you have recently contributed, Global warming, is on article probation. A detailed description of the terms of article probation may be found at Misplaced Pages:General sanctions/Climate change probation. Also note that the terms of some article probations extend to related articles and their associated talk pages.
The above is a templated message. Please accept it as a routine friendly notice, not as a claim that there is any problem with your edits. Thank you. -- TS 21:10, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

As for Kleroteria - could you tell me a little bit about the article. (just write below) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.109.200.48 (talk) 16:09, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the explanation! The other day I came across another "hidden fact" - if it wasn't for the "greenhouse effect", the Earth would be a very cold place indeed. As for the Greek device, this is actually called a kleroterion and was used to select citizens for jury duty, one of the first mechanisms for random selection. Norman21 (talk) 16:36, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
- That's fine and dandy. Do I take it you don't want an article on the Kleroterion or is that still up for discussion? Isonomia (talk) 17:36, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
- Erm, do you mean something like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/Kleroterion Norman21 (talk) 12:41, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Mammographic density
You added a section to absorbance on mammographic density. It doesn't belong in absorbance but maybe somewhere else. You can discuss at Talk:Mammography. Hope that's OK, thanks! :-) --Steve (talk) 00:21, 10 December 2010 (UTC)

Zach Vega (talk to me) 17:07, 7 June 2014 (UTC)Copyright checks when performing AfC reviews
Hello Norman21. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.
The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.
If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)
If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Misplaced Pages to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.
Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.
I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).

References
Remember that when adding content about health, please only use high-quality reliable sources as references. We typically use review articles, major textbooks and position statements of national or international organizations (There are several kinds of sources that discuss health: here is how the community classifies them and uses them). WP:MEDHOW walks you through editing step by step. A list of resources to help edit health content can be found here. The edit box has a built-in citation tool to easily format references based on the PMID or ISBN. We also provide style advice about the structure and content of medicine-related encyclopedia articles. The welcome page is another good place to learn about editing the encyclopedia.
