Hi,
W.r.t your comments here: . Edits are reverted all the time, so how does someone reverting my edits damage my credibility. :Hi , thanks for your response. No I did not take it as an insult. The reason I posted the above message was as I said, I felt that you took it a bit personaly. I dont know why but it struck me as odd. Ok! No big deal. What you said was correct. Every POV pusher believes he/she is right. ABout motives, I have a good guess about bakaman's motives in creating the article but I do not believe in hypotheticating, at least not on wp talk pages.
Let me get back to the topic in question, rather than rambling on. I'm not a big fan of google counts. Most newspaper articles are updated simultaneously on the web so a single incident , no matter how unsignificant can get a good gcount. And the count isnt accurate. For instance yesterday a murder took place in Versova,Mumbai. Husband finds wife in bed with another man; takes an axe , kills them both. Nothing new, right? If gcount is a criteria then this too deserves an article in wikipedia 390 hits. I dont know how intercaste marriages go in Sri Lanka, but here in India it is pretty common. Parental opposition is a given. Manytimes a kidnapping case is registered against the groom as atactic to get them seprated. In case the girls age is unverifiable a very common tactic is to claim that she is a minor and hence the groom is complicit of rape. Beheadings, lynchings stonings as punnishments for the errant couple is not uncommon. Even if uniqueness is a criteria , this story pales in comparision to other grusome love stories. --] (] • ])

Hello - as to your recent edits to the above article, please note the quoted sources that support the presentation of a single person. Also, the change you have made has previously been made by a single-issue editor. However, no editor has provided reputatable sources to back the change. This raises the possibility that a POV fork is being created. Therefore please provide adequate scholarly references for the view that these were two separate individuals. ''Also, the legend of the Saint says he "went to heaven" with Cuntarar (euphemism for dying, I assume). Would a man really be reborn to convert to Islam? Or would an Islamic convert be reborn as an "idolater"?''

== AfD Notice ==
A Shaivite is not necessarily an "idolater" to a Muslim - Shiva is one god, and Vedas are a book. Even, many Shaivites have no representation or icon. In fact, CP goes to heaven on his horse - just like Prophet Muhammed. Both stories end with a religious epiphany besides the many other similarities. The sources I found and supplied present him as the same man, so we should not wait too long before alternative sources are found - the edit should not have been made without sources. Just as Kabir was respected by Muslims, Sikhs and Vaishnavas, two versions of one hero might have easily arisen in those more tolerant times, while now sectarian distortions are perhaps arising. Please sort it out if you want the edit to stand. Thanks ] (]) 19:34, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Pectore, you ought to know that your personal opinions in this matter are beside the point. All the scholarly sources I have seen deal with CP as a single individual. That school of thought must be reflected here. If you can show there is a significant view otherwise, that should also be represented. It is especially futile to advance arguments based on the article as it stands, ie, the unsourced product of a POV battle. Please provide your sources. ] (]) 20:32, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

William Logan reports that the Keralolpatti portrays Cheraman Perumal as a generic figurehead of the Chera Dynasty, along with a Chola Perumal and a Pandi Perumal. The name "Cheraman", also that of a local slave caste, is thought to be cognate with "Chera" and Kerala. The Keralolpatti goes on emphatically to deny that Cheraman Perumal converted to Islam (sometimes conflated with Buddhism) and died while on pilgrimage, asserting that this was all done by a later king, one Banu Perumal - an assertion that Logan immediately questions.

After the ] to move ] to "{{no redirect|Anti-Muslim pogrom in Gujarat 2002}}", User:Darkness Shines went on to create the article ] as well as the category with the same name. There are more issues, we ] a page from {{no redirect|Godhra train burning}} to {{no redirect|Godhra train violence}} even though the name is imprecise and vague, precisely because the majority of the ].

Going by this logic,
#'''Abuse of the word "<code>pogrom</code>"''': This term originates from 19th-century Tsarist Russia where it was first used to label attacks against Jewish civilians that were instigated and <u>condoned</u> by the authorities but carried out by civilian mobs who acted with impunity while the <u>police watched idly</u>. Two issues:
#:The trigger cause of the '02 violence was ]. It was ''not'' instigated/approved/condoned by the Gujarat authorities. That accusation has been nullified in the court of law. Far from stoking violence, the authorities, in an attempt to quell the riot, actually declared a curfew immediately after the first signs of attack — and this was spelled out even in media reports. Thus, the police didn't sit back and watch idly. In fact Modi has been exonerated by the SIT.
#'''Common name''': If we take the most controversial story of them all, Gujarat Violence in 2002. <br>Google returns '''478,000''' hits for ''""'' <br>Google returns ''498'' hits for <br>Google returns 1 hit for <br>If we '''''generalize''''' even further and perform a '''sweeping''' search of '''all''' the articles about <code>anti-muslim pogroms in 2002</code> '''irrespective''' of '''location''', even then google returns ''only'' '''11,000''' hits for "". Apart from that, how on earth could ] or ], or ] be ] as "pogroms"? I ask you to respect Misplaced Pages policies: stick to a balanced view of what is said by reliable sources. Do not remove sourced content because you disagree with the author's position, and do not selectively choose only the content that supports your views. For example, you have been littering articles with serious allegations (stated as fact) from , which does not name its source, while ignoring , which casts significant doubts on the accuracy of the report. == August 2013 ==
First of all, the first statement is not unsourced, and the proof is in the article that was cited. Did you not read that? Here is the passage: "The order spells trouble for Arundhati and three of her neighbours — writer Vikram Seth’s sister Anuradha, a forest officer Nishkant Jhadav and a doctor at a police training centre, Jagdish Chandra Sharma. == Question about WP:RS ==

Hello, I'm concerned about the arguments raised . I read WP:RS, and bias is clearly not a reason for sources to be blacklisted in Misplaced Pages, even if it is a bias against Misplaced Pages. In fact, there's an entire article devoted to ] which has reliable sources. No examples are provided of a lack of editorial oversight or inaccurate reporting, so it seems the discussion is based more on retaliation than reason. Blacklisting sources without sound reasoning risks NPOV which worries me. In your experience, what's the best way to refute these assertions? ] (]) 05:06, 8 March 2020 (UTC)

:I think you should participate in the discussion with the logic you outlined.]] 02:52, 10 March 2020 (UTC)

== Your revert at ] ==

I can't understand why you reinserted unsourced/badly sourced text when I deleted it with an edit summary making it clear there weren't any reliable sources. The text, which I've deleted again, says
"In 2006, the son of an Islamic cleric named Ahmed Deedat circulated a DVD that denounced South African Hindus. The elder Deedat, former head of the Arab funded "Islamic Propagation Centre International" (IPCI), had previously circulated an anti-Hindu video in the 1980s where he said that Indian Muslims were 'fortunate' that their Hindu forefathers 'saw the light' and converted to Islam when Muslim rulers dominated some areas of India. His video was widely criticized. While Hindus in South Africa have largely ignored the new anti-Hindu DVD circulated by Deedat Junior, he has been severely criticized by local Muslims, including other members of the IPCI.{{Citation needed|date=April 2007}} The IPCI said in a statement that Yusuf Deedat did not represent the organisation in any way. Deedat Junior, undeterred by the opposition from his own brethren, continues to circulate the material. He has placed advertisements in newspapers inviting anyone to collect a free copy from his residence to see for themselves "what the controversy is about".<ref>,''India Enews''</ref>"
So, no source for most of the text with a 13 year old citation needed tag. If you'd clicked on the source that does exist, it goes to a Mumai hotels site. Then of course, in text 13 or 14 years old, we're told where to get his dvd. Does that look appropriate? Please ping me if you reply. And don't forget, this is covered by DS. Thanks. ] ] 08:53, 8 March 2020 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Ramnarayan Rawat

The article Ramnarayan Rawat has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not notable.

While all contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Proposed deletion of Tomin Thachankary

The article Tomin Thachankary has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Misplaced Pages policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. -- Patchy1 02:59, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. Tomin Thachankary

Your edit at Tomin Thachankary was reverted for several reasons. You are restoring BLP-violating material by re-introducing poorly sourced (the links provided do not support the statements made and one falls under WP:BLPCRIME) and undue material to the article. You also restored a WP:BLPCAT/WP:EGRS category that was also removed to meet policy requirements, as well as persondata, interwikis and stub templates. The article was reviewed by OTRS request and was found to have major issues, hence it being stubbed. In order for any of the contentious information to be restored you will need to get consensus to do so; I've found the quickest route to determining consensus with regard to BLP concerns is this noticeboard. Thank you, --Jezebel'sPonyo 16:37, 22 December 2012 (UTC)

See articles talk page (which is something you should use if you revert). Don't insult my intelligence by spamming me with policies I have already read and internalized without any logic for 'why'/'how' my edits violate policy.. You actively reverted the page (which is fine), so please dispose of the patronizing passive voice. As for the other non-policy related issues, my apologies.Pectore 05:01, 28 December 2012 (UTC)

Teesta Setalvad

I've reverted you there as I see this as a BLP violation (and I note that the section heading was clearly a BLP violation as it suggests she misappropriated funds). This is at the moment just a letter, and contested.. It may belong in the article at some point, especially if it leads to court proceedings, but not yet. Please don't replace it. Thanks. India Development and Relief Fund

I have again reverted your change where you called The Campaign to Stop Funding Hate a "coalition of leftists". The term "leftist" is often considered derogatory, and is not used by the cited source. With an article on a somewhat controversial topic like this, it is important to stay as close to the sources as possible. Aymatth2 (talk) 20:45, 28 May 2013 (UTC)

Anti-Muslim pogroms in India

After the failed attempt to move 2002 Gujarat violence to "Anti-Muslim pogrom in Gujarat 2002", User:Darkness Shines went on to create the article Anti-Muslim pogroms in India as well as the category with the same name. The article was deleted and he created it again, some of us believe the sources are cherry-picked as you mentioned here. There are more issues, we couldn't move a page from Godhra train burning to Godhra train violence even though the name is imprecise and vague, precisely because the majority of the sources didn't call it by that name.

Going by this logic,

  1. Abuse of the word "pogrom": This term originates from 19th-century Tsarist Russia where it was first used to label attacks against Jewish civilians that were instigated and condoned by the authorities but carried out by civilian mobs who acted with impunity while the police watched idly. Two issues:
The trigger cause of the '02 violence was Godhra Train burning. It was not instigated/approved/condoned by the Gujarat authorities.
  2. Common name: If we take the most controversial story of them all, Gujarat Violence in 2002.
Google returns 478,000 hits for "2002 Gujarat violence"
Google returns 498 hits for "Anti-Muslim pogrom in Gujarat 2002"
Google returns 1 hit for "Anti-Muslim pogrom in 2002 Gujarat"
If we generalize even further and perform a sweeping search of all the articles about anti-muslim pogroms in 2002 irrespective of location, even then google returns only 11,000 hits for "Anti-Muslim pogrom in 2002". It is not at all referred to as "pogrom" by general media.

Apart from that, how on earth could Bombay Riots or Nellie massacre, or 1989 Bhagalpur violence be labelled as "pogroms"? I am not trying to deny that religious violence existed in India as a pestilence since the very inception of this civilization, but to label them as "pogroms" is grossly biased. I would just like to ask you what should we do about it? Mr T 17:22, 6 June 2013 (UTC)

Please

Do not restore that junk again. Be aware that this topic falls under WP:ARBIP your restoration of unreliably and downtight partisan content most certainly violates WP:RS & WP:NPOV.I respectfully request you do not do this again. Darkness Shines (talk) 23:39, 29 June 2013 (UTC)

POV pushing

In your latest edits to India Development and Relief Fund, Angana P. Chatterji‎ and Ekal Vidyalaya‎ you seem determined to show that anyone critical of a Hindu Nationalist organization must be a corrupt, "leftist" agent of Pakistan. I ask you to respect Misplaced Pages policies: stick to a balanced view of what is said by reliable sources. Do not remove sourced content because you disagree with the author's position, and do not selectively choose only the content that supports your views. For example, you have been littering articles with serious allegations (stated as fact) from this article, which does not name its source, while ignoring this article, which casts significant doubts on the accuracy of the report. You have been similarly adding a very selective extract from this source to various articles, failing to point out that Chatterji denied being aware of Fai's position, and removing sourced content that points out that Fai was jailed for concealing his position. Aymatth2 (talk) 18:41, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for your wild characterizations of my editing. Holding these pages hostage to promote your biased view has obviously coloured your view of the editing process. Adding the opposite perspective and removing questionable sources ironically of course is the epitome of "balanced editing". It might behoove you in fact to internalize this meaningless lecture you have given me. You continue to remove criticism of questionable sources, and reinstate biased sources (like Sabrang) with reckless abandon.Pectore 18:41, 11 July 2013 (UTC)

Please could you re-read WP:BLPCAT and WP:BURDEN. Not to mention WP:NPOV, WP:CITE, WP:MOSDATE, WP:INDICSCRIPT, WP:Overcategorisation and, well, quite a few other policies, guidelines and well-respected essays. Most of your reverts made earlier this morning (UTC) seem to suffer from problems, eg: Anna Katharina Valayil, Digvijaya Singh, Chandu Borde. Thanks. - Sitush (talk) 07:43, 8 August 2013 (UTC)

Digvijaya Singh

Not only are you now edit warring at Digvijaya Singh but it is blatantly obvious why you have suddenly taken an interest and got your knickers in a twist. I suggest that you self-revert and discuss because as things stand you are on the wrong side of consensus - not perhaps about whether or not the guy in controversial but certainly about the usage of a lead section. I must admit to being surprised because I've seen you around a lot, generally thought good of what you were doing and rather assumed that you had a decent understanding of policies and guidelines. Perhaps this one has passed you by but, hey, a revert and discussion fixes it. - Sitush (talk) 00:15, 9 August 2013 (UTC)

August 2013

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Shiv Sena. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware, Misplaced Pages's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made; that is to say, editors are not automatically "entitled" to three reverts.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Fut.Perf. 12:43, 16 August 2013 (UTC)

The Arbitration Committee has permitted administrators to impose discretionary sanctions (information on which is at Misplaced Pages:Arbitration Committee/Discretionary sanctions) on any editor who is active on pages broadly related to India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Discretionary sanctions can be used against an editor who repeatedly or seriously fails to adhere to the purpose of Misplaced Pages, satisfy any standard of behavior, or follow any normal editorial process. If you continue to misconduct yourself on pages relating to this topic, you may be placed under sanctions, which can include blocks, a revert limitation, or an article ban. The Committee's full decision can be read at the "Final decision" section of the decision page.

Please familiarise yourself with the information page at Misplaced Pages:Arbitration Committee/Discretionary sanctions, with the appropriate sections of Misplaced Pages:Arbitration Committee/Procedures, and with the case decision page before making any further edits to the pages in question. This notice is given by an uninvolved administrator and will be logged on the case decision, pursuant to the conditions of the Arbitration Committee's discretionary sanctions system.

Namantar Andolan

Dear Pectore,

  • You have removed the category "persecution by Hindus" from Namantar Andolan. In edit note you have explained "secular caste violence of marathas vs dalits is not "persecution by Hindus".
  • In support of category "persecution by Hindus" for Namantar Andolan please read 1, 2 3etc... The Hindu community have persecuted neo-Buddhist people. Hinduism and Buddhism are different religion, so "persecution by Hindus" is accurate category. Additionally, Hindus have killed people from Mang(Dalit community) also. Therefor it falls under "secular caste violence" also.
  • Please let me know if you have any comments.

Many thanks.-----Bhooshan NPY (talk) 11:07, 17 August 2013 (UTC)

Greetings,
I had seen your contributions for Article Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and want to thank you for the same. Your effort is greatly appreciated, you had tried to make article neutral and encyclopedic. However I had also seen some users are involved in distortion and hard criticism, it seem they are biased editors. Can you share Encyclopedia of Religious Freedom, Catharine Cookson (ed.), Taylor & Francis, 2003, ISBN 978-0-415-94181-5, p. 180

I basically want to validate this statement:

Saffronization or saffronisation is an Indian political neologism (named after the saffron robes worn by Hindu sannyasis) used by critics and others to refer to the policies of right-wing Hindu nationalists (Hindutva) that seek to recall and glorify ancient Hindu cultural history (the term "Hindu" in their view encompassing Dharmic Indian religions including Hinduism and the Sikh, Jain and Buddhist traditions), while de-emphasizing the more recent Islamic or Christian contributions.

From the Saffronization page. I doubt that the book has any such content. Jyoti (talk) 15:49, 7 April 2014 (UTC)

Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Khalsa

In 2009 you removed the category Sikhism from the article Khalsa. Is there a reason Khalsa should not be in Category:Sikhism? Goustien (talk) 03:11, 8 June 2018 (UTC)

Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did on 2019 Delhi Temple attack. This violates Misplaced Pages's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Misplaced Pages. Railfan23 (talk) 03:56, 3 July 2019 (UTC)

India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan discretionary sanctions

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Misplaced Pages's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Speedy deletion nomination of List of Tulu people

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, and welcome to Misplaced Pages. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on List of Tulu people requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Misplaced Pages:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Question about WP:RS

Hello, I'm concerned about the arguments raised here. I read WP:RS, and bias is clearly not a reason for sources to be blacklisted in Misplaced Pages, even if it is a bias against Misplaced Pages. In fact, there's an entire article devoted to Criticism of Misplaced Pages which has reliable sources. No examples are provided of a lack of editorial oversight or inaccurate reporting, so it seems the discussion is based more on retaliation than reason. Blacklisting sources without sound reasoning risks NPOV which worries me. In your experience, what's the best way to refute these assertions? Moksha88 (talk) 05:06, 8 March 2020 (UTC)

I think you should participate in the discussion with the logic you outlined.Pectore 02:52, 10 March 2020 (UTC)

Your revert at Anti-Hindu sentiment

I can't understand why you reinserted unsourced/badly sourced text when I deleted it with an edit summary making it clear there weren't any reliable sources. The text, which I've deleted again, says "In 2006, the son of an Islamic cleric named Ahmed Deedat circulated a DVD that denounced South African Hindus. While Hindus in South Africa have largely ignored the new anti-Hindu DVD circulated by Deedat Junior, he has been severely criticized by local Muslims, including other members of the IPCI. The IPCI said in a statement that Yusuf Deedat did not represent the organisation in any way. Deedat Junior, undeterred by the opposition from his own brethren, continues to circulate the material. He has placed advertisements in newspapers inviting anyone to collect a free copy from his residence to see for themselves "what the controversy is about"." So, no source for most of the text with a 13 year old citation needed tag. If you'd clicked on the source that does exist, it goes to a Mumai hotels site. Then of course, in text 13 or 14 years old, we're told where to get his dvd. Does that look appropriate? Please ping me if you reply. And don't forget, this is covered by DS. Thanks.
