It is with a heavy heart that I must annouce that Dravecky . while he was attending WhoFest in Dallas. He was 47.
:Oh, okay, I see what you mean. What happened is that I manually bumped past queue #1 because the bot stopped working. Then I guess I copied the next update hooks into queue 1 instead of queue 4. Not sure why I did that, but I'd swear queue 1 was the only available slot at the time, perhaps I was getting confused with another time, because the queue has been chock full for the last few days. Ed typically worked in the radio station areas, plus Texas and Huntsville history here on Misplaced Pages. He was a prolific DYK'er as well. Dravecky attended Georgia Tech and was a former disc jockey, hence his love for radio. He co-founded ] and was well known in the science fiction and fantasy convention world.

I inevitably picture him as a high school student carrying around this book that looked like a Chilton shop manual called ''The Space Shuttle Operator's Manual''; never for a minute since 1982 have I thought he would not have been entirely competent, through self-study, to have fixed or flown or landed any cognizable NASA craft. Getting articles in wikipedia up to and keeping them at a reasonable level of quality can be, as a lot of us, a bit of a pain. But, if anyone could think of any such articles Dravecky might have considered ones he wanted improved, to the degree that my time at present would allow, I guess I would be willing to help to the degree I can. Alternatively, if there are public domain works which might be proofreadable over at ] which might be reasonably subjects of memorial efforts for him, and which don't involve as much updating and caretaking, I could try to offer some help there as well. ] (]) 15:16, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

It is with a heavy heart that I must annouce that Dravecky has passed away. He passed on April 23, 2016 while he was attending WhoFest in Dallas. He was 47.

Ed typically worked in the radio station areas, plus Texas and Huntsville history here on Misplaced Pages. He was a prolific DYK'er as well. Dravecky attended Georgia Tech and was a former disc jockey, hence his love for radio. He co-founded FenCon and was well known in the science fiction and fantasy convention world.

His friends and family have set up a GiveForward account to help with funeral expenses.

Possible Memorial work?

Getting articles in wikipedia up to and keeping them at a reasonable level of quality can be, as a lot of us, a bit of a pain. But, if anyone could think of any such articles Dravecky might have considered ones he wanted improved, to the degree that my time at present would allow, I guess I would be willing to help to the degree I can. Alternatively, if there are public domain works which might be proofreadable over at wikisource which might be reasonably subjects of memorial efforts for him, and which don't involve as much updating and caretaking, I could try to offer some help there as well.
