Hello Diamonddannyboy. Revert-warring on Talk pages is lame. If the real issue for you is that there is a disagreement about what should go in the article, there could be ways to get more people to participate in the discussion. If you want outsiders to help out, then removing your own comments seems unlikely to be a good way of getting them to support your views. I also request that you stop editing the Talk page with your IP account, because it's getting close to being a violation of ].

Hi,<br>
Hi Diamonddannyboy! I'm not sure what you're trying to do on the talk pages, but given that you've been removing your own comments I presume that you wish them to be taken from view for some reason. While I can understand wanting to step back, unfortunately you aren't really allowed to remove comments - even your own. If they get removed the context of the discussion is lost, and when you make them you release, so they're not really something you can change. Thus generally, once something is said it needs to remain there, with a few significant exceptions (personal attacks and the like). Sometimes, though, you're allow to strike your comments using <nowiki><s></s></nowiki>, which will <s>strike</s> but not remove what you wrote. It still needs to be used sparingly, as if you do it too much (for example, with all of your comments), it will cause problems, but it is allowed to be used occasionally for comments which you feel you need to take back.

There's also another option - to put comments in a collapsible box. I can help with that if it is appropriate, but at the moment I'm not sure what you're trying to do, so I'm not sure if it is appropriate or not. If you could explain why you're removing them I can see if there is something I can do.

That aside, the best advice is to leave the discussions be, I'm afraid. Eventually they will get archived, when enough time has passed, and generally it is just better to step back from things on Misplaced Pages every so often rather than worrying too much about it. And, unfortunately, given the above warning, you will be blocked if you continue. - ] (]) 10:54, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

: I to have my account close and all information removed, however it needs to be done I want done, the article was written regarding gypsys, it is so far from that now, I dont want to be associated with it or wikipedia, surley I have a human right and under data protection laws to be removed and comments removed.--] (]) 12:14, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

:: I'm still hoping to bring the connection to gypsies back - I'm trying to get a copy of one of the references you used to fix that. The difficulty comes from the special problems associated with living people. We don't want to risk defaming them, so the standards for what can go in are very high, and thus we can only report what others say - and even then we need to be careful. In this case we have sources about his fights and a bit about training, but nothing about his background, so it gets difficult to talk about him outside of that.

:: Anyway, personally I hope that you don't leave, as I've enjoyed working with you in the past, and I still hope to improve the Darren Jackson article over time. Especially as I get more information on his background that we can use. (The good side is that it's been shown that it meets the standards for inclusion, so at least deleting probably isn't a concern any more). That aside, you can't remove comments, as they don't belong to you anymore. When you write here your work is released under the ]. (It's the same, in a manner of speaking, on many other sites, but at least here the comments aren't owned by Misplaced Pages either). If you do want to leave, though, you can just mark the page as <nowiki>{{retired}}</nowiki>invoke your ], which won't remove your comments, but may help disconnect this account from you. I'll be very sorry to see you go, but I'll keep trying to improve Darren Jackson over time, and if you stop by with suggestions I'd appreciate it. - ] (]) 13:22, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Misplaced Pages arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
