Marhaba Yamanam! I think the article is good, considering the few sources we have about it. It's preferred that we use English sources, but seeing as the referencing situation will be tough, I think using some ''reliable'' and necessary Arabic-language sources would be fine. == Zeitoun ==

Assalamu alaikum

Since you are a contributor to the Arabic wikipedia, I was wondering if you know whether there is an article on the Zeitoun tragedy or not. If yes, please give me the link. Also what is the common name given by the Arab media to the offensive on Zeitoun? Thank you! --] (]) 04:34, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for your time and effort! I really appreciate it! I started out with the purpose of writing on just the Samouni incident but when I researched the "Zeioun incident", I found that there was discussion of attacks on the entire Zeitoun district (and not just on the Samouni family). But the focal point is on the Samouni family because they suffered the most, 29 dead family members from a total 48 of Zeitoun residents killed, and that is reflected in the article. I will link to the Arabic article on the Samouni family, but I am still not sure what name I should include. You said "Hay Al Zeitoun Massacre (مجزرة حي الزيتون) you might find any of the different massacre committed during the offensive" You mean this name can apply to any of the incidents in the offensive on Zeitoun but not to all of the killings made in Zeitoun? --] (]) 20:52, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

By reviewing my contribution you will note that I created several new articles: ], ], ], ], ], and ] (I think I created other articles but I can't remember them now), in addition to the creation of new articles, I participated in interwiking English wikipedia articles with Arabic wikipedia articles, through adding an interwiki to plenty of Arabic and English articles. I was misunderstood several times because of my poor English, nevertheless I was never . I am not sure why does my IP address show that I am in Dubai - UAE, but I live in Amman-Jordan; an important fact is that I have no control over my ISP and I can't request them to change the routing of my line. Moreover, I am totally ignorant when it comes to IP addresses and open and closed proxies. It wasn't until I was blocked when I knew that several users can share the same IP address I always thought that for each Internet user there is a unique IP address, but now, and as I knew that the same IP address could be shared by several users, I want to say that if I will be unblocked then I will make sure to review all of the contribution/edits made by this (the same as mine).

I think it is up to you now to decide whether the vandalism of this IP deserves that an active user, such like me, to be blocked. ] (]) 08:53, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

Re:Urgent request

I just took a quick look at the article and from what I could see there's no ref that describes the book except the book itself. You should find a neutral reference that reviews the book and summarizes it. Don't worry we'll try to keep it from being deleted. First find that source. --Al Ameer son (talk) 19:24, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

NPOV editing

If you wish me to review the your edits for a trial period, then I will do so - but please don't think that because I found them to be within WP:CIVIL or similar that they cannot be challenged/changed by anyone (and neither that anyone who does challenge/change them is a Zionist, etc.); this is a wiki. The best person, though, to police your edits is yourself; you could try a role reversal trick, which is to substitute Israel for Palestine, Palestine for Israel, Israeli for Arab/Palestinian and Palestinian/Arab for Israeli and review your proposed edit and see if you would be happy with it. If you are, change the key words around and post it - and if you don't like it reword it until you do. Always try to take the moral high ground by making your edits the most neutral and best referenced it is possible to be, for those are the edits that will last. If, however, you feel outside review is best let me know on my talkpage and I will go through your most recent contributions at that time. LessHeard vanU (talk) 21:39, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

I'm really sorry for my late response, and am also sorry and ashamed to say that I cannot read or write Arabic, only speak it. Regards, brother. --Al Ameer son (talk) 03:16, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
I'm delighted the reaction about the Gaza Devotion Period on Wiki Arabic was so positive! Just to give you a note on the progress here... the Great Mosque of Gaza is now a Good article, the articles on the neighborhoods of Rimal, Shuja'iyya, and Tel al-Hawa have been created, an article on Said al-Shawa has been started, the articles on the destroyed villages of Barbara, Yas'ur, al-Jiyya, and al-Jura have been expanded and as for the article on Gaza City, I've expanded it by roughly 30,000 KB and virtually all of it is referenced. Hopefully it will be ready for Good article status soon! I hope you and the Wi-Ar editors keep up the great work and please always drop by Wiki English. Salamat y'akhi! --Al Ameer son (talk) 02:42, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

Arabic Misplaced Pages

Assalamu alaikum, I noticed that the Arabic article doesn't have the picture I added of the destroyed orphan centers. Why was it removed? Thanks for fixing the reference section on the Zeitoun article, feel free to continue editing the article. I hope to add information on the Samouni family tonight, insha'allah. --Falastine fee Qalby (talk) 20:02, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

RE:Ethnic cleansing of Palestine and other stuff

First off, was that article merged with the one on the book? Secondly, it might be difficult to keep that article from being deleted, unless more sources are found and much more text added such as, sections on specific examples of ethnic cleansing as well as a section on criticisms of the term. With an article on this particular subject, we must stress to keep it as NPOV as possible throughout since it has the potential to attract a lot of heat from many users. As long as we add the necessary information above, I am confident the article will not be deleted even with opposition. Lately, as you know, I've been working on the Gaza topic and once Gaza becomes a Good article, I might be temporarily migrating from the Palestine subject area to work on the Gamal Abdel Nasser article, Damascus or the Umayyad Mosque. I want to finally contribute to pan-Arab articles as I had stated I wanted too a long time ago. Compared to other Arab-related articles on Wiki, WP Palestine is the most successful. --Al Ameer son (talk) 03:53, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

P.S. In addition to Gaza City, Shuja'iyya has been expanded to include a History section and I recently created the articles on al-Shifa Hospital and the destroyed village of Burayr north of Gaza. Salaamat y'akhi. --Al Ameer son (talk) 03:53, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

I suggest you open a discussion section at WP:PALESTINE for this topic. I think you are right that an article on the subject itself would be appropriate, but it would be good to get feedback there first. Tiamut 13:19, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

Notification

As a result of an arbitration case, the Arbitration committee has acknowledged long-term and persistent problems in the editing of articles related to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, broadly understood. As a result, the Committee has enacted broad editing restrictions, described here and below.

  • Any uninvolved administrator may, on his or her own discretion, impose sanctions on any editor working in the area of conflict if, despite being warned, that editor repeatedly or seriously fails to adhere to the purpose of Misplaced Pages, any expected standards of behavior, or any normal editorial process.
  • The sanctions imposed may include blocks of up to one year in length; bans from editing any page or set of pages within the area of conflict; bans on any editing related to the topic or its closely related topics; restrictions on reverts or other specified behaviors; or any other measures which the imposing administrator believes are reasonably necessary to ensure the smooth functioning of the project.
  • Prior to any sanctions being imposed, the editor in question shall be given a warning with a link to this decision; and, where appropriate, should be counseled on specific steps that he or she can take to improve his or her editing in accordance with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Discretionary sanctions imposed under the provisions of this decision may be appealed to the imposing administrator, the appropriate administrators' noticeboard (currently WP:AE), or the Committee.

These editing restrictions may be applied to any editor for cause, provided the editor has been previously informed of the case. This message is to so inform you. This message does not necessarily mean that your current editing has been deemed a problem; this is a template message crafted to make it easier to notify any user who has edited the topic of the existence of these sanctions.

Generally, the next step, if an administrator feels your conduct on pages in this topic area is disruptive, would be a warning, to be followed by the imposition of sanctions (although in cases of serious disruption, the warning may be omitted). Hopefully no such action will be necessary.

This notice is only effective if given by an administrator and logged here. PhilKnight (talk) 17:04, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

Editing advice

Firstly, if you want to move a page, in circumstances where the page move is likely to be contentious, you should follow the instructions at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves. Secondly, when editing articles relating to the Palestine-Israel conflict, I suggest you develop consensus on the talk page, prior to making changes that alter the balance of the article. If you continue to be disruptive, then you could be banned from editing the topic. PhilKnight (talk) 18:46, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of 2009 Hamas reprisal attacks against traitors

Please do not move pages to nonsensical titles. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to learn more about moving pages, please see the guidelines on this subject. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Misplaced Pages. Thank you.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Holiest sites in Islam (Shia)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Holiest sites in Islam (Shia), and it appears to be very similar to another Misplaced Pages page: Holiest sites in Islam. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally moving or duplicating content, please be sure you have followed the procedure at Misplaced Pages:Splitting by acknowledging the duplication of material in edit summary to preserve attribution history.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 10:02, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

2009 Arab Capital of Culture

Marhaba Yamanam! I think the article is good, considering the few sources we have about it. It's preferred that we use English sources, but seeing as the referencing situation will be tough, I think using some reliable and necessary Arabic-language sources would be fine. I never edited an article on this subject area before, so I asked the Good Article WikiProject what would be necessary. You could see if they replied at their talk page. I'll keep updated as well and will assist you however I can. Cheers brother! --Al Ameer son (talk) 22:11, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

Foreign language references are not preferred, as English-speakers can't follow up on them, but if there is no other source covering it and the foreign-language ref passes Misplaced Pages's reliable sources policy, it should be just fine. Cheers, —Ed 17 05:32, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

Zeitoun

Assalamu alaikum

Since you are a contributor to the Arabic wikipedia, I was wondering if you know whether there is an article on the Zeitoun tragedy or not. If yes, please give me the link. Also what is the common name given by the Arab media to the offensive on Zeitoun? Thank you! --Falastine fee Qalby (talk) 04:34, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

--Falastine fee Qalby (talk) 20:52, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Thank you Yamanam, once again! You are a big help! I made the changes to the article --Falastine fee Qalby (talk) 17:19, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

IP block

This blocked user's request to have autoblock on their IP address lifted has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request.

Block message:

The IP address that you are currently using has been blocked because it is believed to be an open or anonymizing proxy, such as a VPN service. To prevent abuse, these proxies may be blocked from editing Misplaced Pages.

If you are using an open proxy or VPN service, you will need to disable it or turn it off in order to edit Misplaced Pages.

If you believe you are not using an anonymizing proxy, the most likely cause is that another customer using your IP address who was previously assigned this IP address was running an open proxy. You may appeal this block by adding the following text on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Caught by an open proxy block but this host or IP is not an open proxy. My IP address is _______. Place any further information here. ~~~~}}. You must fill in the blank with your IP address for this block to be investigated. Your IP address can be determined here. Alternatively, if you wish to keep your IP address private you can use the Unblock Ticket Request System.

More rarely, your network equipment or that of your service provider may be misconfigured or compromised by malicious software (such as a virus). For more information, see the WikiProject Open Proxies.

Administrators: The IP block exemption user right should only be applied to allow users to edit using an open or anonymizing proxies in exceptional circumstances, and they should usually be directed to the functionaries team via email. If you intend to give the IPBE user right, a CheckUser needs to take a look at the account. This can be requested most easily at SPI Quick Checkuser Requests. Unblocking an IP or IP range with this template is highly discouraged without at least contacting the blocking administrator.

Decline reason: See WP:NOP. —  Sandstein  15:17, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I tried accessing https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/ and my IP is blocked from editing there. I am not deliberately using anything to bypass Misplaced Pages's systems - I wouldn't know how to do it, and have no reason to do so, all my edits are visible and none of them are vandalism. I am going through my regular ISP in Jordan (Orange). I am sure the Bot that issued this block is misbehaving.

Decline reason:

This does appear to be an open proxy (see also Hersfold's comments below). It's listed by several spam monitoring services as a source of spam and bot attacks (see ), which is a typical sign of an open proxy. I can think of no legitimate reason why a Jordanian ISP might be routing through an open proxy in the UAE - perhaps you should take it up with them. -- ChrisO (talk) 20:18, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

According to , your IP address is issuing from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, not Jordan. I just ran a portscan on it, and while I can't confirm that it is a proxy, I can't confirm that it isn't, either. Hersfold 14:58, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Unblock request

Please make a special case

For those who have my talk page on their watch list, and for those who see this note please note that I am blocked now and I can only edit my talk page, and I wish this message to be channeled to the right panel and more specifically to be posted on the talk page of ProcseeBot and/or it's operator slakr. Following is the message:

First off, the reason of my block is that I use an IP address that was identified to be "an open proxy or zombie computer".

By reviewing my contribution you will note that I created several new articles: Judaization of Jerusalem, Excavations of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Hashim ibn Utbah, Jericho Conference, 2009 Arab Capital of Culture, and Al al-Bayt University (I think I created other articles but I can't remember them now), in addition to the creation of new articles, I participated in interwiking English wikipedia articles with Arabic wikipedia articles, through adding an interwiki to plenty of Arabic and English articles. I participated more than once in voting for deletion and adminship; also I uploaded 2 pictures, one is used in the Jericho Conference and the other is used in the 2009 Arab Capital of Culture.

I was misunderstood several times because of my poor English, nevertheless I was never blocked. It wasn't until I was blocked when I knew that several users can share the same IP address I always thought that for each Internet user there is a unique IP address, but now, and as I knew that the same IP address could be shared by several users, I want to say that if I will be unblocked then I will make sure to review all of the contribution/edits made by this IP (the same as mine).

I think it is up to you now to decide whether the vandalism of this IP deserves that an active user, such like me, to be blocked. Yamanam (talk) 08:53, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

I feel sooo bad that you are blocked, you have helped me much and I hope that you will be allowed to continue contributing! I posted your message on slakr's page. Is there anything else I can do? --Falastine fee Qalby (talk) 15:59, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
This is flat-out ridiculous. This is clearly a misunderstanding that has blown way out of proportion. I had no idea that you were blocked, but I was wondering why you haven't been around lately and saw this on your talk page. I will ublock you, but I have to take this up at the admin's noticeboard so it's not perceived that I'm abusing my powers in any way. I'm at school right now, so give me till the end of the day or tomorrow. Regards, --Al Ameer son (talk) 17:05, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

This is the reason why your IP appears to be from the UAE and not from your real location, Jordan. --Falastine fee Qalby (talk) 17:34, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

Unblocked

I have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.

Please read the page Misplaced Pages:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions.

Note in particular that you are not permitted to use this newly-granted right to edit Misplaced Pages via anonymous proxies, or disruptively. If you do, or there is a serious concern of abuse, then the right may be removed by any administrator.

Appropriate usage and compliance with the policy may be checked periodically, due to the nature of block exemption, and block exemption will be removed when no longer needed (for example, when the block it is related to expires).

I hope this will enhance your editing, and allow you to edit successfully and without disruption.

Message me on your talk page if you still cannot edit. Good luck! --Al Ameer son (talk) 00:28, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

No prob

It was all a big understanding it appears. Yamanam, you are a good editor, you follow the guidelines, and I always recall that you keep a cool head in what has the potential to be a heated discussion. There was no justification in blocking you. On a separate note, I want to thank you for starting the article on the Jericho Conference. Cheers and happy editing! --Al Ameer son (talk) 06:52, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

WalaykumasSalaam waRahmatullahi waBarakaatahu brother. InshaAllah I will. BTW, there is a lot of Arabic text in articles on Misplaced Pages which describe with the various Surahs in the Qur'an. You can get a list of them in this article: Surah. I have been editing articles on Surah An-Nas, Surah Al-Muminun and Mu'awwidhatayn. InshaAllah please try to have a look at them and also at others if you can. Also it InshaAllah be good if you or your friends could contribute towards articles for these other other Surahs.

Orphaned non-free image (File:AlqudsCapitalofCulture.PNG)

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:AlqudsCapitalofCulture.PNG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. FileBot (talk) 10:16, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Israel Stealing of Organs

The article Israel Stealing of Organs has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This is like a news story rather than encyclopedic information.

While all contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Adi4094 (talk) 08:23, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

FYI, my feeling was that the article as it was would almost surely be deleted, or moved, in a way that would probably just make attempts at improvement more complicated. If you work on the article where it is, or get others to help, then the next step would probably be to get a second opinion from someone more experienced on whether it is likely to pass WP:AfD; if you decide it is, then that's the time to create the article. My personal view is that it would take some more reporting on this to justify an article, but the reason I moved it was as much so you don't have to deal with a likely-controversial deletion argument at the same time as trying to improve the article. CfD nomination of Category:Judaising Jerusalem

Speedy deletion nomination of Al al-Bayt University

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Al al-Bayt University requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Misplaced Pages takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Misplaced Pages to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Misplaced Pages:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Misplaced Pages:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Misplaced Pages arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
