In 1985, when the Italian manufacturer took over the distribution rights in the US, Intersport, Inc. was given the right to make apparel and other products, excluding helmets, bearing the AGV name and trademark and AGV Sports Group was created. By the early 1990s the AGVSPORT brand was being used on most apparel for aesthetics reasons due to the different graphic requirements of apparel from helmets.
