An MPC article that doesn't contain the word "hip-hop"? Unbelievable. Especially considering all the synth articles that mention famous uses and influence. <span style="font-size: smaller;" class="autosigned">—Preceding ] comment added by ] (]) 10:13, 11 February 2009 (UTC)</span><!-- Template:UnsignedIP --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

Hello everyone! Thank you for the recent works on this page, it looks much better now. However I was wondering if it made sense to still keep a list of the different models of MPCs, maybe with their release date. I'm thinking it would be consistent with other stand out wikipedia articles about series of product, such as the iPhone series, the PlayStation series, the Fort F series or the Nikon E series. --] (]) 19:21, 2 October 2018 (UTC)
Agreed. This seriously needs to be remedied, as the MPC is an instrument of significant historical and cultural value. Just as you wouldn't have an article on the electric guitar without talking about rock and roll, any discussion of the MPC that does not include its use in hip-hop is ultimately no more than a list of technical specifications. Again, this device has had an extremely significant role in one of the world's dominant musical forms, and it is criminal oversight to neglect that.
: Incorporating a list of different models would be a good addition, but everything we add must be sourced properly (as it is on the ] article). We can't allow the article to become another untamed jungle of technical information without proper sourcing or discretion about what's included, as it was not so long ago (see ). ] (]) 04:32, 3 October 2018 (UTC)

There are some major inacuracys with these entries for example in the 1000 mpc article it is refered to a pad fix , this was not a fix it was instead an upgrade to add new functionality.

'''The Notes section and reference list is in the code for the article but is not appearing in the article. I have tried undoing edits in the history to get it to appear. But i can't get it to appear.'''

I cut this from the top of the article:

Could you upload it using this page and fill in the info: http://en.wikipedia.org/Special:Upload
If not provide more info like your name (or just say use your username) and how you want it released. Not sure if we should just assume here...

Also a few more shots if you have the time. There is a lot of flash in that photo. If not that one will do fine.

I cleaned up the article a little. At the bottom there was some html and random characters. There is a rather negative tone in the following paragraph:

"The basis for the MPC stems from Roger Linn's early designs, yet has continued as a marketing force after his involvement. Many claim Akai have let the MPC range down by poor service attention, lack of OS updates for popularly requested features and "chasing the field" media formats (i.e. re-releasing the MPC2000XL with a CompactFlash card reader in 2004). Despite this, few sampler/sequencers are as robust; and the MPCs' features still demand respect."

Should this be rewritten or removed. At least a source, perhaps a quote from someone.

thanks,

What about some links to songs/artists using/referencing the MPC series. ] <small>—Preceding ] comment added by ] (]) 20:14, 7 September 2007 (UTC)</small><!-- Template:UnsignedIP --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

List of different machines

Hello everyone! Thank you for the recent works on this page, it looks much better now. However I was wondering if it made sense to still keep a list of the different models of MPCs, maybe with their release date. I'm thinking it would be consistent with other stand out wikipedia articles about series of product, such as the iPhone series, the PlayStation series, the Fort F series or the Nikon E series. --2A01:CB04:75:3300:3AE3:C5EA:EEB1:52A7 (talk) 19:21, 2 October 2018 (UTC)

Incorporating a list of different models would be a good addition, but everything we add must be sourced properly (as it is on the PlayStation article). We can't allow the article to become another untamed jungle of technical information without proper sourcing or discretion about what's included, as it was not so long ago (see this revision). While working on a review for this, I noticed that the nominator's only contribution towards the article is running IABot to auto-archive the sources, which is practically textbook drive-by nominating given that the nominator made no real contributions towards the actual article content. Quickfailing for drive-by nomination, but I'm happy to review it in the future if significant changes to the article's content itself is made. B3251(talk) 20:16, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
