With respect to , you reverted a good faith contribution as though it were vandalism with a rollback. Per ], regardless of the tool that you use, rollback is for obvious vandalism only. What makes it worse is that the edit was correct and improved the article. Reverting something just because it is done by an IP is unacceptable, and you are warned that repeated errors of this nature will result in your removal of rollback, and your consequent inability to use Huggle. ] (]) 07:50, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

I have left the editor a note regarding editsummaries and references. But they seem to be good faith edits although looking like vandalism. I understand your point about a "random YT channel" isnt a valid source. But still Mr Buchanan in his own words says his full name is Tanner Emmanuel Cristobal Buchanan. So coming from his own mouth. A long-disputed issue at that article has been wikilinking the character of Cindy that she played in ''Spider-Man: Homecoming'' and one other related film (expanding it to Cindy Moon from ]). I put an entry on the talk page there about a year and a half ago, and IJBall responded on that topic. Definitely miss him; IJBall knew more about the dispute than I did - I just know that when this wikilink was attempted, it would be reverted. And now an IP is claiming that IJBall's comments on the talk page, because of his block, are not valid and is deciding to go forward with the disputed wikilinking, further claiming there's no ] at all to prevent the wikilink. I'm thinking a new CONSENSUS may be needed, or the wikilink will need to stand in the future.

Just judging from your talk page, the only thing that I really notice is that you really need to be careful about reverting someone just because they have previously been reverted. The original reverter could've made a mistake, the vandal could've changed and decided to make a good edit, or the revert may have been a good-faith revert and not a vandalism revert. If there is doubt that it is or isn't vandalism, then it shouldn't be rolled back. I didn't see any of this since those posts on your talk page, so you've probably already gotten this part, so this may be no help at all. == Warning: misuse of rollback ==

Hi User:Amaury, I don't know if you got the message on ] or not, but please: do not use rollback to revert edits that are not obvious vandalism, sockpuppet edits or anything that isn't under the ].

I fail to see how ], ], ], ], ], ], ], ], ], ] are all correct uses of rollback under that criteria.

On the article ''Zoey 101'', it's even worse. You edit warred with another user, by reverting their constructive change of the logo <u>three times</u> using rollback (], ], ]). This could've easily resulted in loss of rollback privileges if someone had reported you to the administrators.

], ], ] are correct uses of rollback, although usually you would also want to place an appropriate warning on the user's talk page regarding their unconstructive edit (e.g. for diff 16 I would've definitely sent a warning regarding adding spam links to articles).

But when it comes to reverting an edit that is constructive in at least some form of way, always try to provide an explanation why you had to revert that edit. Otherwise, the other editor will fail to see why their edits had been reverted, and just silently reverting edits without apparent reason is like a business kicking out a would-be customer who just wants to enquire about something there. —&nbsp;] ] 01:09, 20 December 2024 (UTC)

Tiffany Espensen

A long-disputed issue at that article has been wikilinking the character of Cindy that she played in Spider-Man: Homecoming and one other related film (expanding it to Cindy Moon from Silk (comics)). I put an entry on the talk page there about a year and a half ago, and IJBall responded on that topic. Definitely miss him; IJBall knew more about the dispute than I did - I just know that when this wikilink was attempted, it would be reverted. And now an IP is claiming that IJBall's comments on the talk page, because of his block, are not valid and is deciding to go forward with the disputed wikilinking, further claiming there's no WP:CONSENSUS at all to prevent the wikilink. I'm thinking a new CONSENSUS may be needed, or the wikilink will need to stand in the future.

Redirect categorization

I came across your removal of Danger & Thunder from Category:The Thundermans while I was checking for categories emptied out-of-process. I reverted it for two reasons – the WP:ECOOP issue, and the fact that redirects are often categorized. For example, if you look at Category:Television crossover episodes, around half of its members are redirects (indicated by italics). MOS:CITIZEN is about stating ethnicity in the lede. I didn't add her Bulgarian nationality in the lede, I simply added her in a category of Bulgarian actresses (which she is). The talk page discussion said nothing about her not being a Bulgarian national, therefore I deem it is appropriate to add her into the category of Bulgarian actresses. Best regards. Warning: misuse of rollback

Hi User:Amaury, I don't know if you got the message on Talk:Tanner Buchanan or not, but please: do not use rollback to revert edits that are not obvious vandalism, sockpuppet edits or anything that isn't under the valid criteria for the use of rollback.

I fail to see how diff 1, diff 2, diff 3, diff 4, diff 5, diff 6, diff 7, diff 8, diff 9, diff 10 are all correct uses of rollback under that criteria.

On the article Zoey 101, it's even worse. You edit warred with another user, by reverting their constructive change of the logo three times using rollback (diff 11, diff 12, diff 13). This could've easily resulted in loss of rollback privileges if someone had reported you to the administrators.

Diff 14, diff 15, diff 16 are correct uses of rollback, although usually you would also want to place an appropriate warning on the user's talk page regarding their unconstructive edit (e.g. for diff 16 I would've definitely sent a warning regarding adding spam links to articles).

But when it comes to reverting an edit that is constructive in at least some form of way, always try to provide an explanation why you had to revert that edit. Otherwise, the other editor will fail to see why their edits had been reverted, and just silently reverting edits without apparent reason is like a business kicking out a would-be customer who just wants to enquire about something there. — AP 499D25 (talk) 01:09, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
