Thanks for nominating ] of a Boeing 777 being towed across a public road at London Heathrow. It will be interesting to see what happens! I fear it has little chance, only because a few of my other aircraft pics have been nominated and have had no luck!<br>
I was at Heathrow only last Saturday and I watched three aircraft towed across that road (they never have their engines running). Sadly a bypass road is being built around the area so sometime in 2006 that road will be shut for ever. Best Wishes - ] 22:26, 15 November 2005 (UTC)
Lanoitaurus, | |||
:Hi! You asked on my Talk page if the road is used much, here's the answer - <br>
:I'm unsure if you are already aware, however an anonymous user ] has repeatedly removed the photo of McLean as well as an "unsourced" quote which I have provided a source for. I believe this has gone past the "Three-Revert Rule" however, as prior discussions havn't done much good, I'm not sure it its even worth bringing up on the talk page. ] 07:50, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
:Yes, that road is in use by the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, because it’s the airport’s public perimeter road. How some of British Airways maintenance hangars (including the Concorde maintenance hangars, when it was flying) got to be the wrong side of a public road I have no idea.
==Fraternity template-Mission Statement==
:The aircraft crossing point is almost in line with the approach to runway 28R which is the northern of Heathrows 2 runways (the other is 28L). 28L or 28R are used when the wind is such that aircraft must approach LHR from the east ie they fly across London itself.
I'm going to add that as an option to the infobox, I'll post on your talk page when I get it working. ] 16:37, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
:Locate the point where aircraft, if landing on 28R, fly across the LHR perimeter road where it runs round the the eastern side of the airport. The map should show a roundabout about 100 metres south of that point, at a popular photography spot that many call the White Huts (because there is a small white-painted industrial estate there, that you can park amongst).
:Done ] 17:17, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
:About 100 metres south of that roundabout is the aircraft crossing point. It’s a great place at the crossing because there are views of aircraft queuing for take off on 28R if 28L is being used for landings. Hope this helps - ] 15:46, 16 November 2005 (UTC)

I just want to say that you've done a great job concerning the copy-vio mug shots and dealing with this person. I can't believe this person is actually connected with the Howie Carr website or show because he seems rather thick. I didn't think when I uploaded the mug shot of Jimmy Flynn that I was violating any copyright. But it was so long ago that I honestly don't know where the picture came from. I knew that mugshots were PD but I didn't even think about people claiming ownership of a scan of a PD picture! So I was educated by the corel court case! If I had done something wrong I would have bothered fighting this guy in the edits either. But since it was made clear that there was actually a court case about this type of thing, this guy should have backed off the pictures. I must say I am annoyed with people stealing verbatim from other sites and I'm glad that came to light so these articles can be fixed. ::Thanks very much, always great to hear positive feedback =). The "corel case" is ], which was brought to my attention by ]. Its is a US district court ruling which basicially established that even if someone puts a bunch of effort/time/money into creating a reproduction of a public domain image, the new reproduction is automatically in the public domain as well unless it involves some sort of artistic originality. I appreciate your message, so let me fill you in on what's missing. A rationale is an explanation of why an image qualifies for fair use, and is not to be confused with a license tag. A license tag, such as {{tl|Non-free logo}} simply states that an image is fair use, but an explanation of why it qualifies must be included in addition. Also, simply stating "Fair use is asserted," doesn't qualify for a rationale. The reason this is important is because fair use images should only be used if they cannot be replaced. For example, a copyrighted picture of an existing building does not qualify for fair use because it is possible to create a free picture of that building yourself. On the other hand, logos cannot be replaced, but still must include a rationale of why that is the case. The template {{tl|Logo fur}} is the easiest way to do this, and I have added it to ], so take a look at the page to see how it's used. As a I side note, I re-uploaded the image as a PNG file because GIFs should not be uploaded to Misplaced Pages unless they are animated images. Let me know if you have any further questions.

unfortunately even though they appear to be fairly open to uses there are several issues, A) this does not constitute a license that Misplaced Pages can use and B) There are conceivable times when we would not fall under their scope and their licensing states that they reserve certain rights to their images so it is not appropriate for use on Misplaced Pages (other of course than fair use on articles about Firefox or Mozilla). <small>]] | ] | ]</small> ---- 02:06, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

I've attempted to read the compiled history of the university to get some good content, but I literally fell asleep reading it:-P. I'm hunting to get it up to good article status and I think that's the most deficient section. Any ideas or willing to pitch in? Thanks! -Cquan (talk, AMA Desk) 22:31, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
Image:Analysis Group.gif
Hello, Lanoitarus. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:Analysis Group.gif) was found at the following location: User:Lanoitarus/Analysis Group. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 03:34, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Frank_Salemme.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Frank_Salemme.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Misplaced Pages articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Misplaced Pages:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Misplaced Pages policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 15:59, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

I have tagged Image:HowieWinter.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Misplaced Pages policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 21:32, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

Re: Image:US_Helicopters_logo.gif
I appreciate your message, so let me fill you in on what's missing. A rationale is an explanation of why an image qualifies for fair use, and is not to be confused with a license tag. A license tag, such as {{Non-free logo}} simply states that an image is fair use, but an explanation of why it qualifies must be included in addition. The template {{Logo fur}} is the easiest way to do this, and I have added it to Image:US Helicopter logo.png, so take a look at the page to see how it's used. As a I side note, I re-uploaded the image as a PNG file because GIFs should not be uploaded to Misplaced Pages unless they are animated images. Let me know if you have any further questions.
Orphaned non-free media (Image:Alpha Phi Crest.gif)
Thanks for uploading Image:Alpha Phi Crest.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 04:04, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
ArbCom elections are now open!
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Misplaced Pages arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
