It was very short-lived (about a week from establishment to deletion, and the User that established it was similarly short-lived). I was surprised today when seeking an article on the subject, whom I regard as notable, and finding none. While I am not David Cole, nor have I ever met, seen, spoken to, or knowingly corresponded with him in person, I have some knowledge of what an accurate article on this subject would have contained. His work is very controversial, such that a person whose POV opposed Holocaust revisionism would favor suppression of information about him and his work. Most of his work is currently viewable on YouTube.

Shortcuts

Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in two cases. The first case is restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions (G6) or stale Articles for creation drafts (G13)), or in deletion debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. In the second use case, this page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be "userfied", i.e., restored as a draft or emailed to you; this way, the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here). Be clear as to which namespace is intended, when requesting a refund of a deleted article.

This means that content deleted after discussion – through deletion processes – may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process but through deletion review instead. Copyright violations and attack pages will not be provided.

Do not request that pages or media deleted under speedy deletion criteria F7, F9, F11, U5, A7, A9, A11, G3, G4, G10, G11 or G12 be undeleted here.

What's the difference between this and disputing e.g. a PROD tag on the article – Why would, in this case, I be required to have it submitted to AFC? As an article that has been deleted and not improved, all of the reasons for deleting it still stand. Since it went through AFD once, it can easily go through AFD and fail again. With no improvements, it would be an even easier case for deletion. As well, a second AFD deletion would automatically be a hard deletion and not a soft one, even if the 2nd AFD were identical to the first. As a draft, it has more time (six months with no one making an edit) for you to garner support for the draft, or to gather resources to improve it. Further, if it is deleted as a draft, it would be G13, and so can easily be restored through WP:RFU. - UtherSRG (talk) 01:21, 27 December 2024 (UTC)

According to WP:SOFTDELETE, the article can be restored for any reason on request. Just because an article was deleted does not mean it should have been. The only reason given for deletion was that Most sources in this article are either broken or not related to it at all. and that the nominator did not find further sources. However, I heavily doubt that an appropriate BEFORE search was done, given that this is a 1910s Somali military base/government (the coverage would likely be offline journals in the Somali language) and the nominator has a history of poor AFDs (see their AFDStats page, which shows a success rate of ~50% on a few dozen nominations) – and no one else commented besides that user. To be honest, it'd probably be better to go through AFD again than just sit in draftspace and get deleted, given that we might have some people actually participate, as my access of sources likely to cover this is extremely limited. FWIW, if someone can decline a request even when it says that it can be restored for any reason on request, then that wording doesn't make sense; if that were really the case, it'd say something like that it "may be restored on request", as the "any reason" part would be unnecessary. The only "options" you've really given me are vague things such as 'fix the issues from the deletion discussion' (which were even more vague), "garner support for the draft", and DRV, which, as far as I'm aware, is not for issues such as these. There is nothing to stop you doing that, but they will have to contain better sources than the previous versions, or they will simply be deleted again. Note that Simaran Kaur was deleted because it was created by a banned user, and this one was deleted by AfD, so they must both go through the AFC process. Template:Optional link was deleted after perfunctory discussion because it was unused seven months after its creation. I believe this is the appropriate forum since this was a deletion debate with little or no participation other than the nominator.

I frequently edit templates, and created this template because I thought it would simplify a recurring challenge in writing templates.

I'm not seeing the point of this cite template in the first place. What you are using as url1 should be the url used, then indicate with {{rp|2}} that the supporting text is on page 2.
