Hi Alison, I saw you're an admin on the Irish language Misplaced Pages. Hello,
== Filtered ==

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Misplaced Pages, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this ''''''.

I recently invited you to take a survey about administration on Misplaced Pages. If you haven’t yet had a chance, there is still time to participate– we’d truly appreciate your feedback. The survey is anonymous and should take about 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its ] and view its ].

Kind Regards,
Don't treat my comment that way. I accept its removal because of the personal information. But there is a deep truth in what I said and that is about the origin of all those problems of which many are to blame. It is funny how it is the style in Misplaced Pages of using categorical adjectives. "purely", "highly". It is like people don't know how to make sense of themselves. I understand that she didn't like being exposed, but she also need to learn what are the things that she is doing wrong, and is still doing wrong. I have seen the effects occurring over and over again, and are still happening. ] (]) 22:46, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
: I absolutely ''will'' treat it that way, actually, even though it's just boilerplate text. In fact your comment came close to being oversighted. What you said was immensely cruel and completely uncalled-for and at the very ''least'', comes under ]. Seriously, even your comment above smacks of retribution and 'punishment'. It was completely over the top and, frankly, you owe her an apology - ] ] 23:16, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
:* It doesn't make any difference sweetie. It is not me who is having problems constantly. And as you can research, it is a problem that she is choosing to ignore or even worst, to try playing the heroine/martyr. If she really cares she still need to ask me what have she and is she doing wrong if she haven't discover it yet. I just said a plain truth, maybe cryptic if you don't know all the aspects of it but still immensely true. I don't mind apologizing, I don't loose anything that way (let me do it right now) but will it solve anything? The one who has a problem to solve is she. ] (]) 23:31, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
::: 'scuse me - ''"sweetie"''? Are you trying to be deliberately offensive here or do patronizing terms like this just trip off your tongue? :( Either way, it's not part of your remit to somehow make her see the error of her ways, or whatever, and especially not with gratuitously offensive, personal attacks. Just don't do that stuff - ] ] 23:50, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

Just by chance, I noticed that your problems had not stopped (since they even came to disrupt FPC). You are being a bit paranoid as you were when I reviewed one of your pictures in the most impersonal and objective way, as I always try to do. I just happens that among the things that I see, I support those that I think are right. No matter what. When I saw people doing wrong to you I condemned it. If I see you doing wrong I tell you. Hello, I need some assistance. Currently, there seems to be an increasing number of "puppet accounts" (]) on the Uzbek Misplaced Pages. To help identify and manage these accounts, I would like to request checkuser status. ] (]) 02:29, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
:::* People have been offended so many times that just want to be offended. Sweetie means just that. I use language in the plainest possible way, since I don't have the skills to bend it ingeniously. It I want to offend I would use again plain and clear offenses. Take it as an edulcorantion of the dialogue to counterbalance your emphasized (''will''). About my remit, it is mine, my own. If it there is something that we own, that is the choice of what to do with the time that it is given to us. About my remit, only me is to know what it is, and it was to point those error. I did it in and improper way? My bad. But it certainly was not an attack. More like a hurtful surgical healing procedure that opened a wound to purge a tumor. ] (]) 00:31, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
::::Well, as clearly your comments have hurt others, maybe you would consider changing the way they are phrased (and therefore not hurting others) or stopping it. They aren't helping. ]]] 02:27, 26 March 2010 (UTC) * Hi there. Unfortunately, I cannot help you. Really sorry - maybe check locally or ask a ]? - ] ] 03:28, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
::::* And so I did. My only other comment was an apology as I was asked to do. The root and real purpose of all the story will not change. As I believe it and is quite evident. Mbz1 needs help to come out of a loop of mistakes in which got involved and even worst people with the aim of helping and with good will are, involuntarily, helping her to stay in it. Now, it can not be done without her will to do it. That's why it doesn't make sense for me to continue until then. Maybe you can try. For me once is enough and twice is too much. ] (]) 02:55, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

== Weird Censoring Issue from 2011 ==
because you expressed interest in this, I am notifying you of the formal request here:

I know this is from over a decade ago, but I was looking at my contribution history and it made me think of the time when my browser was inexplicably censoring everything on your page and the page of ] and you ended up having to be in the middle of it. Not sure if you even remember it occurring, but I thought you might be interested in hearing an update all these years later because it was so bizarre.
]

Anyway, just for context, I was just short of 13 years old when that happened. Age-wise, I could see my parents maybe having some sort of filter on my computer, I'm pretty sure it was not some sort of computer virus. I never specifically asked them about it, my mom could get kind of reactive about things so I didn't want her assuming I was doing something inappropriate. The only thing I can think of on why it never recurred again is that they took internet away from that computer (for reasons that stretch outside of this conversation, nothing terrible though, mainly staying up too late and being lethargic at school) and they maybe never thought to do that again.

== how to revert earlier version in case of vandalism ==

i

i am kinda new to wiki.
i am mostly interested in reverting vandalistic edits.
i would like to have your help in understanding in how to revert earlier versions in scenario like this.

a page gets valid edits at 2pm.it gets vandalised at 3 pm.the same page also gets vandalised at 4pm
.now if i am to "undo" the changes, then i can revert only to the 3pm version from the 4pm version.

how ppl are doing the reverts directly to 2pm version from 4pm ?

thx,

:As ] is not currently available, I'm attempting a response here. ], if you haven't been around long enough to have access to specific tools, like ] for example, you start with the earliest vandalism and keep undoing, moving forward in time until you have them all. Well, that's what I used to do. If there are a lot of vandal edits, ask a friendly admin or other user with the rights to help out. It would also be helful if you were to sign your name to your posts using the 4 tildes <nowiki> ~~~~ </nowiki> so that we can look at the problem and perhaps provide better assistance. :-) ] (]) 17:39, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
::Another way to go about this is to click on the earlier revision in the history (simply click on the timestamp) and then edit it, enter an edit summary (''"rv to old version due to vandalism"'') and then click save. Be sure you don't roll over any good edits in between. –]] 17:43, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

I've been thinking about becoming an EDiot; ever so often while traversing that Land of the Lulz and Home of the /b/rave I noted that this or that article needed moar ], ], ] or ]. I probably won't contribute regularly, but that's what I said about TOW at first too, so we shall see.

Are there any requirements, or can one just hop in armed only with a knowledge of the internets, barbed-wire wit, and a generous dose of foul language and lack of respect? Because I think I can handle ''that''. And what sort of contribution would be a good start for a newfag, that avoids dissing too many regulars? I wouldn't want to get the full force of the banhammer or somesuch early on, and I noted that there is ''some'' etiquette on ED, but in its own twisted way, and being a ]fag and thus quite remote from the community, I find it not easy to intuitively grasp ED's do's and dont's.

Also, it might be relevant to your interests that we do not at present have an article on intersex animals (and related phenomena) on TOW. It's all strewn throughout a bunch of articles (], ], ], ], ]...). I have in my collection of scientific papers several ] on intersex butterflies, moths, birds 'n' shite that probably should be discussed on WP, but I'm too lazy to do the stuff on my own and in any case, it's gonna straddle the turf of ] (my usual stomping ground), ] and ]. Not that it's particularly important to me, but there is clearly some need for such an article and if it's being done, I'll be honored to throw in what RS I have around.

Invitation to participate in a research

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Misplaced Pages, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team

ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Misplaced Pages arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:05, 19 November 2024 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:User en-IE

A tag has been placed on Category:User en-IE indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz 06:40, 24 November 2024 (UTC)

Weird Censoring Issue from 2011

I know this is from over a decade ago, but I was looking at my contribution history and it made me think of the time when my browser was inexplicably censoring everything on your page and the page of User:Jolly Janner and you ended up having to be in the middle of it. Not sure if you even remember it occurring, but I thought you might be interested in hearing an update all these years later because it was so bizarre.

It definitely was not malicious on my part, I was as confounded about it as anyone else, plus I curse like a sailor in certain environments so I am not against profanity as a rule. --Thebirdlover (talk) 05:24, 7 December 2024 (UTC)

  • Hey there, @Thebirdlover:. Yeah, it's been nearly 15 years since that incident. I can tell you what happened. Back then, I was an Oversighter, and had responsibilities for personally-identifying information and for children's privacy. Back then, you were a minor, and I was alerted to remove certain information from your user page for your own safety. It's usually done very discretely and even administrators can't see the edits. So that's what happened.
    • I know what the oversight issue was about (that was going back to when I started here), I was talking about this situation that you were involved in related to my computer haphazardly removing expletives because I was reminded of it and felt like trying to explain what was going on as best as I possibly could (even though I still don't completely know what happened). --Thebirdlover (talk) 02:15, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
      • Yeah, I had no idea what happened there, and still don't. It looks like there was some weird censorware on your computer, as it wasn't retroactively censored on the WP side, from what I can see - Alison 19:30, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
