Hi GamerPro64,
I'm somewhat iffy. Hi GamerPro64 - Would you please return to the FAR for ] and give more details on your concerns? There is an editor willing to work on the article, but none of the commenting editors appear interested in giving more than a one line general comment accompanied by a "delist". It would be great if you could detail your concerns so that the editor who is working on the article will have some specific comments to start with. Thanks in advance, ] (]) 01:40, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
:GamerPro, the editor is still willing to work on the article (see my talk page) so it would be great if you could list your concerns ASAP. Also, please note that FA criteria does not require that every single sentence (or even paragraph) has to have a citation, just information that is potentially controversial, direct quotes, statistics, etc. Just because a paragraph or sentences doesn't have a citation doesn't automatically mean it needs one. This is something that delegates have had to point out on several recent FARs, so I'm just trying to remind everyone of this. ] (]) 20:00, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

G11 is only for blindingly obvious cases of promotion where it would be better to start from a blank page. ] is not our best film article, and could do with some inline referencing, but it seems pretty typical of much of our content on this topic. ] is more arguable; it is hard to find sources on small specialist presses and they do often get deleted at AfD, but such articles are best taken to AfD so that other editors can diligently search for sources. In general, I'd say speedy deletion should not be used on well-established articles except under very limited circumstances (most often copyvio) because there's a covert acceptance of the article by the community over the years that needs a deletion discussion to override. The template is supposed to go at the bottom of articles, just like {{tl|Featured article}}. This is because most people don't know what the template does, and it certainly is not easy to determine what it does if you don't already know since it changes an image in the corner of the page rather than inline with the text, so a lot of users remove the template. ] (]) 02:21, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

Featured picture scheduled for POTD

Hi GamerPro64,

This is to let you know that File:20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1916).webm, a featured picture you nominated, has been selected as the English Misplaced Pages's picture of the day (POTD) for December 24, 2024. A preview of the POTD is displayed below and can be edited at Template:POTD/2024-12-24. If you have any concerns, please place a message at Misplaced Pages talk:Picture of the day. Thank you! :Jay8g 08:09, 23 November 2024 (UTC)

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is an American silent film directed by Stuart Paton and released on December 24, 1916. Based primarily on the 1870 novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas by Jules Verne, the film also incorporates elements from Verne's 1875 novel The Mysterious Island. This was the first motion picture filmed underwater. Actual underwater cameras were not used, but a system of watertight tubes and mirrors allowed the camera to shoot reflected images of underwater scenes staged in shallow sunlit waters in the Bahamas. For the scene featuring a battle with an octopus, cinematographer John Ernest Williamson devised a viewing chamber called the "photosphere", a 6-by-10-foot (1.8-by-3.0-metre) steel globe in which a cameraman could be placed. The film was made by the Universal Film Manufacturing Company (now Universal Pictures), not then known as a major motion picture studio, and took two years to make, at the cost of $500,000.
