:Actually, while I'm here do you know what the modern name of "Benche, Poland" is? (Currently a glaring redlink on ].) It doesn't look like a Polish or German spelling to me (as Domery lived in France, I suspect it's a French translation), but I can't think of anything that it might be. As Domery ended up in the Prussian army, I assume it's somewhere that came under Prussian rule during the Partitions. Every book on Domery gives "Benche" as his birthplace, so I assume it isn't a typo. – ]] 10:50, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

::Thanks; will close it as not passed, in that case (although hopefully, someone will come along and work on it later). Regarding Domery/Domerz, I've added a "no place called Benche exists" footnote—I'm wondering whether it's actually ] outside Stettin/Szczecin, but Pomerania wouldn't have been considered Polish in that period. I suspect that whoever signed him up to the French army just scribbled down his name and birthplace as they sounded to a French ear, and both names were perpetuated from there. Hi Piotrus,

A few weeks ago, I conducted a DYK review on your submission for the page ]. I noticed that, on December 9, it was removed from a queue, as another editor had some substantial concerns regarding both the hook and the article as a whole. A link to their discussion can be found at the DYK submission for the article. I just wanted to reach out and let you know about this, as I was not pinged and only just found out about this, and I assume the same is true for you. Please keep me informed about any future edits you make with the article and the hook and I'll happily proceed with the DYK review process in whatever way I can. Thanks, -] (]) 14:12, 24 December 2024 (UTC)
