:: You seem to have rather strong personal feelings on the topic. There are a lot of facets to climate change research and theory. In my opinion, one of the areas where global warming theory is strongest is on the acidification of the oceans. Warming deniers have yet, as far as I have seen, been able to come up with a plausible reason why, if warming is a natural, cyclical pattern, why the oceans are acidifying like they are. On the other hand, paleoclimatology, such as produced the ], has a lot of issues, which I think explains the unquestionably defensive nature of the Climategate emails. In short, it's not black and white. There are some grey in some areas. Some scientists are doing really good work and their research is compelling and robust. Some, on the other hand, might need to rethink their approach. I think this is a natural and inevitable situation for something as complex as climate science. If one group of scientists have issues with their research, it does not mean that the entire concept of human-caused warming is nonsense. Not at all. In the meantime, we just need to write the articles without any view towards taking any side. We just report what the sources, all of them that are reliable, are saying. For what it's worth. ] (]) 14:11, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
:::First thing we do, is stop using opinion pieces to write encyclopedia articles. ] (]) 20:20, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
::::I agree that editorials have limited usefulness and that's why I think it's silly to argue over which editorial comments to use and which ones not to use and how. As I said before, I expect that several books will be published on the Climategate incident in a few months time. I predict there will be five books published. Two will take the CRU/] side, one will try to take a middle ground, and two will take Climate Audit's side. If we're all willing compromise and cooperate, I think we can work through it and produce a great article on what happened in the incident and why or why not it is important and how. ] (]) 01:45, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
:::::I'm not sure it is that simple. Have you had a chance to analyze the sources used in the current article? Do they fit your 2-1-2 model? ] (]) 02:55, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
::::::Are any books being used at all in the article? I think that news reporting on the third investigation report has fit the 2-1-2 model. To use a personal example, the day the report was released I watched CNN and Fox. CNN stated simply that the scientists had been "completely cleared" and made no mention of any of the negative findings. Fox stated that the scientists were mostly cleared, but noted that there were some negative findings. ] (]) 00:54, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

::Well, the impact was that everyone from the White House on down responded. Not much there. The nature? Heck, I don't know. Merry Christmas!
On the second Day of Christmas 1724
J. S. Bach led the first performance
of his chorale cantata
Christum wir sollen loben schon, BWV 121,
based on a hymn written by Luther
in 1524 as a paraphrase of
"A solis ortus cardine".

September music

Today's story has 3 composers, I couldn't decide for the one on the Main page or the one who didn't make it on his bicentenary, so took both, and the pic has a third. Listen if you have a bit of time. The music, played by the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra in Germany in April 2022, impressed me. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:40, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for good observation! - Recommended reading today: Frye Fire, by sadly missed Vami_IV. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:48, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
Happy because my story today is about a Czech mezzo soprano who is mentioned on the Main page on her birthday. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:56, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
Today is Schoenberg's 150th birthday! On display, portrayed by Egon Schiele, with music from Moses und Aron, and with two DYK hooks, one from 2010 and another from 2014; the latter, about his 40th birthday, appeared on his 140th birthday, which made me happy then and now again. - See places for a stunning sunrise, on the day Bruckner's 200th birthday was celebrated (just a few days late). --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:45, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
My story today features a pic I took from my position in the choir, I can also offer varied delightful music, some from Venice, also with pics I took, - note the rose in the clarinet ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:46, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
DYK for Nathaniel Coe
On 10 September 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Nathaniel Coe, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Nathaniel Coe. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Nathaniel Coe), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. You may remember Maryvonne Le Dizès, my story today as on 28 August. Some September music was unusual: last compositions and eternal light, with Ligeti mentioned in story and music. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:24, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
today Rohan de Saram - unbelievable story --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:43, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
Today is the birthday of Tabea Zimmermann, and you can listen to the exact concert I mentioned last year ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:37, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
Today I remember an organist who was pictured on the Main page on his birthday ten years ago, and I found two recent organ concerts to match, - see top of my talk. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:31, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
Today brought a timely promotion of Helmut Bauer to the Main page on the day when pieces from Mozart's Requiem were performed for him. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:41, 12 October 2024 (UTC)
I made Leif Segerstam my big story today as you know ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:05, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
My story today is a cantata 300 years old, based on a hymn 200 years old when the cantata was composed, based on a psalm some thousand years old, - so said the 2015 DYK hook. I had forgotten the discussion on the talk. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:41, 20 October 2024 (UTC)
Happy whatever you celebrate today, - more who died, more to come, and they made the world richer. Greetings from Madrid where I took the pic of assorted Cucurbita in 2016. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:07, 31 October 2024 (UTC)

For a surprise, a Bach cantata is on the Main page today, where it was last year for the 300th anniversary, and they were too lazy to find something new ;) - Look at my story, and listen to the 3 whole-tone steps and the dialogues of Fear and Hope. - An open letter open to be signed (more info on the talk), - I haven't checked if you did, please ignore then. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:01, 7 November 2024 (UTC)

- Your admiration for Hopper reminds me of my visit to an amazing 2019 exhibit at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. The museum recreated Western Motel and people could actually spend in the night in there. The lighting was a perfect match. I have photos and a video clip, but not sure it's allowed on Commons. The rest of the exhibit was also a treat. APK hi :-) (talk) 10:27, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
- What gets me about Western Motel is the color of the room. That pea green color was everywhere in the US up until maybe the late 1970s, at which point people finally had enough and said no more. How did that happen? Why was the color acceptable one minute, and the next, socially verboten? For many years now, I've been fascinated with the idea of sea changes or paradigm shifts in art. Just yesterday, I was obsessing on Pierre-Henri de Valenciennes, trying to figure out how his interest in open-air painting laid a small part of the foundation for the Impressionists, who would emerge 50 years after his death. Thank you for the article! November was rich in sadness and happiness for me, expressed in music. Regarding my arb candidate question, I found one so far who looked deeply into the matter, Simonm223. - I'm always interested in adoption, User:Flibirigit, but it looks like User:Launchballer is trying to close it out quick, and I'm not a huge fan of working against the clock when I have so many other things going on. If Launchballer can hold off on closing, I would be happy to take a look and see what I can do. Viriditas (talk) 21:11, 5 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Flibirigit: it's unfortunate, but I don't have access to any of the sources needed to resolve the maintenance tag issue. I also don't have access to the Misplaced Pages Library, which could help resolve this. Due to this set of unique circumstances, I'm not sure how much help I can offer here. It might be the case that these sources are available on the Internet Archive, but I don't see any links to it at this time. Viriditas (talk) 21:22, 5 December 2024 (UTC)
- Note, it looks like a set of similar editorial problems have led to issues in the GA process for their other articles, so this isn't confined to just Diane Leather. This is a far larger problem and doesn't just reflect this one article. In a perfect world, I think if I had access to these sources, I could make some attempt to fix the problem, but I don't. Viriditas (talk) 21:28, 5 December 2024 (UTC)

- No need. I can’t do anything to improve it. See above. Viriditas (talk) 23:09, 5 December 2024 (UTC)
