Accused of Genocide through link of http://www.nnn.se/n-model/foreign/hmong.htm there is no conflict between the Hmong people and the Laos communist government. It has been the Hmong people who have plotted coups and other violent revolutions but everything has been disrupted. No conflict is occuring in Laos. "Many of the reports on the Hmong inside Laos suggest that the government is engaged in an ethnically inspired campaign of discrimination against them. In fact, the Lao constitution and laws are more tolerant towards minorities than many of its neighbours. Sorry but i dont understand how this conflict can be described as a minor one. Yes there are little civilian losses these days on the Israeli side but the people of Palestine are still living under an illegal occupation and the suffering of Palestinians is one of the top causes of radical islamic extremism around the world. ! Start
I don't see any combat going on in the so-called "Arab-Israeli Conflict", how can it "currently" be making 1000+ violent deaths? The term itself does not describe a single conflict but rather a number of wars involving Israel, the last of which practically ended in January 2009. Should this really be included? <span style="font-size: smaller;" class="autosigned">—Preceding ] comment added by ] (]) 11:36, 20 April 2009 (UTC)</span><!-- Template:UnsignedIP --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->
! No of deaths
:This article faces the philosophical problem of ]. If North Korea invaded South Korea tomorrow, would that be the same war as the Korean War? Is the war in Afghanistan the same as the war in Pakistan? I think there is a valid argument to make that the conflicts between Arabs and Jews / Israelis since 1920 have all been due to a consistent set of underlying disagreements and can be meaningfully grouped together as a single conflict, which the Misplaced Pages article ] does. The article says that the conflict is ongoing, which makes sense, as the underlying issues haven't been resolved, and while we can hope that there won't be 1000 violent deaths this year caused by it, I think it is a little premature to say that there won't. <span style="font-size: smaller;" class="autosigned">—Preceding ] comment added by ] (]) 23:47, 12 May 2009 (UTC)</span><!-- Template:UnsignedIP --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

First of all, as is widely known Northern Ireland should not be included. The Provisional IRA has put it's weapons beyond use and officially abandoned violence as of 2006. Even according to international observers.
! Cause

! Follows
The loyalist paramilitaries (Ulster Volunteer Force, Ulster Defence Association and Loyalist Volunteer Force) still have their guns, but they have largely refrained from the sectarian murders of Catholics that defined their tactics during The Troubles. Most agree that their main activities now include drug trafficking and extortion.
! Important events

! Consists of
The only real terrorist threats come from a handful of small, dissident Republican paramilitaries that have refused to recognize the Good Friday Agreement. These movements have virtually no support from the Nationalist/Republican community. They have engaged in recent violence, but have killed very few people, the only massive attack being the Omagh bombings of 1998.

This is sort of a joke if those are all the conflicts that are listed. Off the top of my head I can think of a dozen more ongoing conflicts.
|class='wd_p1120'|

|class='wd_p1339'|
Not to mention the article doesn't even define what a conflict is. More than 10 people killed a year? 1000 throughout the conflict's history? A series of car bombings without casualties? We need to define it: there are set academic definitions of "wars", "low intensity conflicts", "conflicts", and "political violence" that need to be adhered to. I would offer them up, but don't want to dig through my papers from grad school. I'm sure they are available online.
|class='wd_p31'| ]

|class='wd_p1478'|
Moreover, I don't have time to edit this or I would rewrite the whole article. For the layperson who may edit this in the future (if I don't get to it first), here is a good reference for starters:

The list should only include wars between a country and some insurgency or another country. Domestic terrorists are mostly controlled by the nations police force or military police. Those should not be added to the list. If that was so every country would be colored. The list seems to be fairly accurate when looking at both Major war and then Major Conflicts. Also lists of Peru etc... are mostly dead and are minor things that are no longer controlled by military force. I think an interesting one is Palestine-Isreal since they have recently agreed to cease fire. Also, the civil war in Palestine has also ceased. A lot of interesting changes lately. Another thing to look at is the Somalian pirates and the recent attacks India has made on them. I would like to see if there might be some sort of Northern Somalia - Indian conflict. Can Somalian separatists spread themselves that thin? ] (]) 22:10, 19 November 2008
|class='wd_p1120'|

|class='wd_p1339'|
Agreed, can't really count individual domestic terrorists as conflict, but definiteions would be good. If we were to include Violend Political Conflicts on the map as defined above, that would probably make the map look extremely red. Or yellow, or whatever color we happened to choose. However, a couple things:

For some reason, the 1000 fatalities per year definition was removed, in favor of something like "the threshold varies depending on the discussion, but here are some that usually pass" which is incredibly vague. A numerical threshold attributed to a reasonable authority makes deciding on inclusion a lot easier, and makes the list more neutral. -- ] (]) 06:09, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Of the listed major conflicts, the ] and the ] have been stated on their respective articles to have been effectively concluded while still being listed as ongoing conflicts. This produces a discrepancy which should be resolved. Something has to change either on this article or theirs - we cannot have them contradict each other. As a reminder, official ceasefires are simply documents, but we should looking for ''effective'' conclusion of hostilities, not official declarations.

|class='wd_label'| ]
I believe we can agree the South Ossetian War is more or less done and over with, and should be considered for removal from the list. However, the article on the Second Congo War speaks of ongoing hostilities in direct relation to the war, implying that it is at least still ongoing, if not major, rather than having ended in July 2003 as the article's infobox states. Furthermore, the ] came about in the wake of the Second Congo War, so perhaps it is logical to consider the former as a subset of the larger Second Congo War, hence rendering the Second Congo War current. The Zimbabwe conflict is not a conflict at all. A poster has put a link indicating that 12 to 20 people are missing after having gone to a Botswana training camp (unproven as well). Many people go missing in Zimbabwe. ==Inaccurate and tendentious categorisation of Israel-Hamas war==
Trans-African Inititive
The transafrican inititive concerns about anti-terrorism. It lists no operations, or battles, or deaths and rails against the U.S for starting the inititive. We already have the insurgency of the maghred that includes Algeria, Maurtanian and Morrocco. We do not need anti-u.s rhetoric in the list of wars. Find another article.

Grouping all of the wars Israel has been involved in since 1948 as one conflict is self-evidently non-factual, tendentious and deliberately intended to inflate the total casualty count (which itself is highly dubious; hundreds of thousands!? Add up the casualties in the 1948, 1956, 1967, 1973, 1982 and then other conflicts does not come close to 300,000). The total Arab casualties in all of the wars of the Arab-Israeli conflict in the Arab-Israeli conflict article is around 90,000. If you're actually saying Israel is a "belligerent in the Yemeni civil war", and then adding all of the deaths from that conflict (given Israel has not struck back at all and is not at war with Yemen or Houthis, and has not caused any deaths in Yemen) is so obviously biased, as is calling Israel a "belligerent" in what are, in fact, unlawful terror attacks by a non-state actor.

According to the UN impact report, the total casualties of the Israel Gaza war are 45,000 for both years. Casualties for Lebanon total 3,000. Therefore a total equaling 53,000 to 63,000 over counts casualties by 5,000-15,000.

== Separation of major wars ==

Note that the Upsala Conflict Database--cited by the wikipedia page here as a source--actually concurs with the lower numbers I mentioned.
I thought it was a good idea to have the major wars sorted out, as in , before . The reason for the revision was "''Why is the American intervention portion of the Somali civil War considered as a major conflict, massive revision''". We probably need a better reason for such action. Indeed, treating all conflicts as equally devastating may be just as wrong. And actually, that United Nations definition of major war was actually the best definition we had in this article. It may not be completely without controversy, and there may always be arguments for what conflicts fill the criteria for it, but after all, we have the same problem for every conflict on the list. So what we have to to is either to reintroduce the ''1000+ deaths per year''-section, or we delete the whole article, since the same arguments for deleting that section applies for the whole article as well. However, I strongly favor having that section than deleting all of it. ] (]) 08:56, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

In other words, by both the official UN sources AND the *sources cited* the casualties listed as incorrect. We could perhaps chalk this up to the page editor not clicking the dis-aggregated view of the data, but given the frequency of tendentious casualty reporting on this subject, where, for example, 50,000 casualties from the Lebanon War are attributed to Israel despite them occurring before Israel entered the war--which, again, is what the sources cited themselves indicated--I am skeptical.
:I reinserted it now. I used the conflicts that were in the list before (). Still, the image needs some update, so I suggest doing that as soon as we have sorted out how the article itself should look. ] (]) 17:35, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

== Remove Turkey-PKK Conflict ==

An average estimate of 171,000 would be most in line with the sources. But even stating it as 195,000 which 'compromises' by allowing some double counting and inflation for the sake of rhetorical peace, would be much more accurate than the current statement.
It's absolute nonsense how Northern Ireland or Catalonia isn't listed and Turkey is. The conflict between PKK and the government is nothing more than sporadic terrorist attacks or ambushes. It's just terrorist activity, and as a previous user stated, if we were to add terrorist attacks, every country would be listed. <small><span class="autosigned">—Preceding ] comment added by ] (] • ]) 19:18, 26 April 2009 (UTC)</span></small><!-- Template:Unsigned --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

Perhaps then list it as 195,000 (171,000-210,000), since this uses the mean as the floor, while keeping the real ceiling. This allows for some arbitrary biasing upward, as a compromise between the truth and the wikipedia editors who, for whatever their reasons, want to use the incorrect estimates. This, at the very least would reduce the error rate from 42% to 14% at the lower end, and 50% to 25% at the higher end. <!-- Template:Unsigned IP --><small class="autosigned">—&nbsp;Preceding ] comment added by ] (]) 13:50, 24 December 2024 (UTC)</small> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

==Double Counting of Casualties in Israel Palestine Conflict--Casualty Rate Should Read 165,000 (110,000-210,000)==
This is a war which has costed over 40,000 lives. More Turkish soldiers are killed every month by the PKK, than American soldiers are killed in Iraq. As for why, Northern Ireland isn't listed, the war there has ended, they made a peace treaty, something which hasn't happened in Turkey yet. Now you (Gnaaye) migth be a Turk, but that doesn't mean the whole of wikipedia has to conceal facts and lie to make your country look "peacefull". This is by no meens "spread out terrorist attacks", there are gunbattles weekly which kill several people every time. Mines kill soldiers daily. I'm re-adding this conflict, which is much more of a war than many which are listed here.] (]) 20:41, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

The table links to a source that includes in its casualty list deaths from the Israel Palestine conflict, but to get the final number the editors added those to the previous number thus double counting them. What's more, the source itself already double counts casualties because it includes dead from the 1947-1949 war twice.
Here are just some examples of what's happening there, all from this month:
,, , , .] (]) 20:58, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

But, on top of this, the source is confusing but is incorrectly cited. It lists conflicts with parties to them, not the casualties caused by them. Comparing the source to the pages for each of the conflicts in question produces much smaller estimates. For example, read incorrectly, the linked source suggests that some ~58,000 (60,000 across conflicts) people have died in wars between Israel and Lebanon, when even the highest Lebanese estimates are 20,000. Estimates range from 13,000-15,000 at the lower end, and 18,000-34,000 at the higher end (and that's with double counting in civilian and combatant casualties as it is !). This means that EVEN WITH THE SOURCES IN QUESTION, THE CASUALTY RATE OF THE CONFLICT IS AT MINIMUM 24,000 SMALLER, and up to 45,000!.
== Should this conflict be put on? ==

When we account for the double counting, this results in a reduction of 14,000-27,000--so the numbers are 38,000-72,000 smaller.
This one is still ongoing. ] ] (]) 17:34, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Adding up the casualty estimates provided on the wikipedia pages for each conflict, before adding the Israel-Palestine numbers gets us a range of 57-115. The Israel Palestine conflict page lists 53-65. Except, more than half of these are already included in the previous estimate. HOWEVER, even if we do not account for this we get a range of 110-168,000. Now if we add the recent Gaza war-which, again would be double counting in part--we would add 43,000.
== Please Remove Sri Lanka labled as "Ongoing War" ==

This means that even if we triple count Palestinian casualties listed on the wikipedia pages, our total rises to 153,--210,000--and EVEN THAT includes deaths not caused by Israel, double counts many victims, counts missing as dead, and so on.
I saw somebody removed Sri Lanka from Ongoing war list ,but again user : Andrewlp1991 or Nwe revert it back.
I would like consider here WikiPedia is 💕 and will respect the Democracy.

Even if we add Israelis killed in terrorism and riots (5-15,000 depending on how we count), Palestinians killed in intra-Palestinian violence (2000), The war of the camps between Lebanon and the PLO (4500--6500) and deaths in Black September between Jordan and Palestine (4000 in official estimates, but Arafat claims 15,000 Palestinians killed by Jordan, which would put the total at 16,000) we would get 15-40,000 more deaths and that would put our total at 168-250,000.
Sri Lanka Government Gazette and made statement in parliament the War has End.

While the latter estimate is larger than the one listed on the page, this one includes 25,000 Palestinians killed by Lebanese, Jordanian, and Palestinian forces, it double counts a portion of Israeli terror victims (soldiers who died in terror attacks are listed in both war and civilian casualty estimates, and thus over state the estimates), while taking the higher estimate of those dead--thus increasing the estimate by up to 30,000.
wiped out officially 17-May-2009 .

It double counts the dead prior to 1948, it double counts the dead in the 47-49 war, it triple counts Palestinian casualties in wars since the first intifada, it counts all those who have died in Lebanese wars, even those who were not killed by Israel (indeed including even those who died in wars before Israel even got involved!), it takes the higher estimates of dead in every conflict, even where US, & Israel estimates VASTLY lower, UN estimates are much lower, and independent Arab state & Human Rights organization estimates are somewhat lower.
It is up to anybody to admit it or not. anyway there is no war in Sri Lanka and no humanitarian catastrophe like in Afganistan or Iraq .
] (]) 00:38, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

The double and triple counting adds 35,000-80,000 deaths. Taking the highest estimates adds 57,000.
Simply because the government declares the Tigers defeated does not mean it is over. And with regards to your comparison to Iraq and Afghanistan, regardless of its extremely dubious accuracy, Afghanistan and Iraq are also on the list. --] (]) 23:57, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Notably, adding together the total casualties from more reliable sources gets us 122,000 before the recent war, and then 43,000 for the recent war, bringing us to 165,000!
== Philippines wrongly marked ==

Notice, this brings us a very similar estimate to taking the lower estimate from all the respective wikipedia pages for each of the episodes of the Israel Palestine conflict.
The Philippines, according to the image File:Ongoing_conflicts.svg, states that roughly 2/3 of the country is on a conflict. Why is it so? The only real conflict happening here right now is on the southern part, not the whole of it. <small><span class="autosigned">—Preceding ] comment added by ] (] • ]) 12:01, 8 June 2009 (UTC)</span></small><!-- Template:Unsigned --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

Since independent sourcing leads to a similar estimate to the one produced by using other wikipedia sources at the lower end, this is a good indicator it is of reliability, especially since getting the higher estimates requires that up to 14% (35/250) - 40% (80/193) of the casualties attributed are Palestinians, Lebanese, Syrians and Jordanians killed by other Palestinians, Lebanese, Syrians, and Jordanians, and it requires taking the higher estimate in every case, which accounts for 23% (57/250) -- 50% (58/115) of the deaths. If 55% of a casualty estimate ((57+80)/250) depends on attributing deaths of people killed by other states, and taking the higher estimate of casualties in every single case, chances are the estimate is off!

Meanwhile, another estimate (165,000), which:

This does not require using Israeli or US estimates (which are *lower* than the 165,000 estimate!). In fact, it holds even if we use the estimates of Arab states (the highest ones--which would produce at the highest 210,000 as above), human rights organizations (the second highest), or scholarly academic sources (those in the median range).
:For scale and comparison, the Syrian's killed ] in 24 hours - virtually all civilians. The Arab-Israeli conflict can be summed up as the Middle East's response to the US/Soviet Cold War, if we set aside the ME's participation in the original cold war. Israel's cold peace with Egypt and Jordan has eliminated two hostile countries, and Israel's strong defensive deterrent has prevented Syria from launching attacks even as Israeli actively flows over Syrian airspace. So out of the 60 years since this conflict began, a fraction of the time has actually involved open-warfare. ] (]) 02:50, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

Notice further that the middle range estimate of 165,000 is roughly the mean of the lower, medium, and high estimates. This is further indication of its validity since it balances opposed viewpoints and expertises.

Thus, the casualty range for the Israel Palestine conflict should--to be charitable to all the different perspectives and viewpoints--read something like:
Do not take DRC off the list. Can't anyone check the news carefully? This is conflict that continues to produce violent deaths, displacements, rape and everything else associated with an ongoing conflict.

There seems to be some disagreement about the scale of the ]. The linked article gives references for the following number of fatalities:
*Yemen: 1,000
*Saudi Arabia: 9

By my count, this is about 4,500 fatalities, which is the number given in this article too. At the time of writing this, it is November 2009, and the linked article says the conflict began in June 2004, which is almost 5 and a half years ago. 4.5 thousand fatalities in 5.5 years is not 1000+ deaths per year.

The latest objection to placing this entry in the "Other conflicts" section is that doing so would make the text of the article inconsistent with the map. This is true, but placing the entry in the "1000+ deaths per year" section would make the text of the article inconsistent with the rest of Misplaced Pages, and presumably inconsistent with reality. I think the map should reflect the article, not the other way around, unless the map is using some extra information that needs to be added somewhere to make things more consistent. <span style="font-size: smaller;" class="autosigned">—Preceding ] comment added by ] (]) 20:15, 22 November 2009 (UTC)</span><!-- Template:UnsignedIP --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

:Dgreco claims "(you do not divide total deaths by years, a lot more would be up there, it is more than 1,000 in a year and there have been over 1,000 deaths in 2009.)". It is right that the casualty rate is probably not constant, but without a reference it is wrong to assume that the most recent 12 months has seen an above-average level of casualties. The main article on the conflict ] "Skirmishes and the clashes between the two sides during 2009 began in June." and the article covering the phase of the conflict from August onwards (]) states "hundreds" of casualties, without giving a reference. These articles do not contradict the supposed "over 1,000 deaths in 2009", but they do not support it either. Rather than mess around reverting each other's edits, I will leave Dgreco's edit in place and hope that someone can find some evidence to substantiate it, which should be added to the aforementioned articles. <span style="font-size: smaller;" class="autosigned">—Preceding ] comment added by ] (]) 23:51, 22 November 2009 (UTC)</span><!-- Template:UnsignedIP --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

(the page says it was last updated in January 2009, which is 12 months ago). Your edits in relation to Israel/Palestine do not take a consistent approach to your edits in relation to Afghanistan. There is currently a Maoist insurgency in Bangladesh. It is not as big as the one in India but the BBC reports in a recent article that 70 people died last year. 3 cops were killed yestoday. It certainly should be added to the list and map.

== Mozambican election crisis ==
There are also small Maoist insurgencies still active in Turkey and Peru (2 turkish guerillas died a few weeks ago). And the situation in Nepal is has the occasional violent spillage too.

There are many conflicts, some very low intensity, that should not be ignored. Perhaps differant shades of blue should be added to the map, rather than just 2 ? Not directly related to this specific article, but I think Misplaced Pages needs a better sorting system for those tables.
Trying to sort the tables for fataties will result in inproper sorting: placing 6,000 next to 600,000 and the ~2,500 at the end.
Perhaps a way of solving would be adding a hidden bogus number just for sorting purposes (e.g. someone manually assigns numbers 100, 200, 300, etc to the current entries on the table, then when entering new entries, users are advised to properly place a bogus number like 150 for the things in the middle, or leaving it blank (thus sorted at the end until someone adds the number) and bots could search wikipedia tables for numbers like 150, 175 and reassign number to the whole table in the 100, 200, etc; Note that this () is just an idea, but the problem still should be considered).
I know this may not be the best place for such comment, but I don't know where is, sorry. I'd like to ask that whoever knows please copy this to the proper place.

Inaccurate and tendentious categorisation of Israel-Hamas war

I don't know how to do a signature here so sorry User:Idontknowhowtodothissorry -- 2 May 2024 2a02:6b6d:1338:0:fd31:8c17:3cf2:3a56

Total Casualties for 2023 and 2024 of Israel-Gaza and Israel-Lebanon War double counts casualties again

According to the UN impact report, the total casualties of the Israel Gaza war are 45,000 for both years. Casualties for Lebanon total 3,000. Therefore a total equaling 53,000 to 63,000 over counts casualties by 5,000-15,000.

2023 casualties should be 22,000 or so, and 2024 should be 26,000.

Note that the Upsala Conflict Database--cited by the wikipedia page here as a source--actually concurs with the lower numbers I mentioned.

In other words, by both the official UN sources AND the *sources cited* the casualties listed as incorrect. We could perhaps chalk this up to the page editor not clicking the dis-aggregated view of the data, but given the frequency of tendentious casualty reporting on this subject, where, for example, 50,000 casualties from the Lebanon War are attributed to Israel despite them occurring before Israel entered the war--which, again, is what the sources cited themselves indicated--I am skeptical.

https://ucdp.uu.se/year/2023

It also seems that this database was incorrectly cited, as indicating casualties rather than attacks https://acleddata.com/2024/10/10/israels-gaza-middle-east-a-year-in-numbers/

As their own casualty estimate is " This brought the total fatality toll of Palestinians killed since 7 October 2023 to more than 45,000. While the IDF pressed on with a grinding war in Gaza, the intensity of its operations decreased as Israel gained greater operational control over the Gaza Strip. Israeli forces targeted all five governorates of Gaza, but the highest number of attacks hit Gaza City and Dayr al-Balah. "

This means literally every source cited contradicts the number presented!

Please change the estimates to their correct numbers of 22,000 and 26,000.

Prior Double Counting Not Addressed, Current Double Counting Only Worsens the Issue--Official & NGO Estimates put total casualties of IP conflict at about 50,000 smaller, at minimum

Note that even if we use the absurd elevated estimates given producing a 65,000 casualty count, when added to official indices the total for the entire 160 year Zionist Arab conflict is still 190,000. This means even with the inflated estimates provided, the total provided is off by at least 50,000.

https://olive-merralee-23.tiiny.site/

https://www.systemicpeace.org/warlist/warlist.htm

https://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/total-casualties-arab-israeli-conflict

Adding together each: 1. Misplaced Pages page estimates of wars 2. The Uppsala data base of casualties 3. The relevant UN reports 4. Israeli Human Rights Groups reports 5. The Wars of the World Database 6. The Palestine Human Rights Monitor Group Estimates 7. The Battlefield Inequality Database cited by the wikipedia page 8. Israeli and US official estimates of casualties

Each produces estimates that range from 120,000-210,000 for the period of 1860-2024.

As stated, even adding the higher estimate of the double counted data for 2023 to 2024 to the prior data gives us a casualty estimate that is 50,000 smaller than the one stated.

Please correct the total casualty estimate of 242,000-246,000, since the minimum is much lower and the maximum is 210,000.

An average estimate of 171,000 would be most in line with the sources. But even stating it as 195,000 which 'compromises' by allowing some double counting and inflation for the sake of rhetorical peace, would be much more accurate than the current statement.

— Preceding unsigned comment added by 38.130.70.120 (talk) 13:50, 24 December 2024 (UTC)

Double Counting of Casualties in Israel Palestine Conflict--Casualty Rate Should Read 165,000 (110,000-210,000)

The table links to a source that includes in its casualty list deaths from the Israel Palestine conflict, but to get the final number the editors added those to the previous number thus double counting them. What's more, the source itself already double counts casualties because it includes dead from the 1947-1949 war twice.

When we account for the double counting, this results in a reduction of 14,000-27,000--so the numbers are 38,000-72,000 smaller.

This means that even if we triple count Palestinian casualties listed on the wikipedia pages, our total rises to 153,--210,000--and EVEN THAT includes deaths not caused by Israel, double counts many victims, counts missing as dead, and so on.

The double and triple counting adds 35,000-80,000 deaths. Taking the highest estimates adds 57,000.

Notably, adding together the total casualties from more reliable sources gets us 122,000 before the recent war, and then 43,000 for the recent war, bringing us to 165,000!

Notice, this brings us a very similar estimate to taking the lower estimate from all the respective wikipedia pages for each of the episodes of the Israel Palestine conflict.

Thus, the page here: 1. incorrectly cites a source 2. misrepresents that sources claims 3. cites a source which itself engages in double counting and unclear attribution 4. does not line up with the other wikipedia pages' conflict estimates or those of their sources *EVEN AT THEIR HIGHER END* 5. to be true requires an estimate that requires 14-40% of the deaths be those caused by other states, and 23-50% of the casualty estimates are due to taking the higher range of each estimate, with a combined effect that 55% of casualties are tendentiously attributed 6. does not line up with independent sourcing

Meanwhile, another estimate (165,000), which: 1. Uses independent sources 2. Minimizes double counting 3. Only attributes deaths caused by Israel 4. Lines up with the lower estimates of the relevant wikipedia pages and their sources 5. Is self consistent 6. Strikes a moderate balance between the estimates of US, Israel, UN, Arab League, Hamas, PLO, Hezbollah, Jordan, Egypt, Syria, academics and so on 7. Lines up with the cited source for this wikipedia page *IF* considerations are taken to interpret it correctly (which would give us a base of 114-159,000, to which we would add the 43,000 of the recent war, giving us 157,000--210,000

Thus, the estimate of 165,000 lines up with the: 1. Other wikipedia pages 2. Their sources 3. Independent sources 4. The *VERY SOURCE USED FOR THIS PAGE* if properly interpreted

THUS EVEN BY THE STANDARDS OF THE SOURCES CITED THE ESTIMATE GIVEN ON THE PAGE IS INFLATED BY 50%! A FULL THIRD OF THE CASUALTIES LISTED ARE IMPROPERLY ATTRIBUTED OR COMPLETELY FABRICATED !

US and Israeli sources would give us a total estimate somewhere near 100-120,000

UN, Human Rights organization and Academic sources give us our middle range of 165,000.

The highest estimates give us a total of 210,000.

Deaths:

165,000 (110,000--210,000)

Not the current 230-241,000 which is false even on its own terms!

Change the minimum estimate of those killed in the conflict in Ukraine to 120,000+

At the moment, according to the minimally recorded obituaries on both sides, the number of deaths should exceed 120 thousand people; the information in the article is outdated: 1) 54,000+ dead on the Russian side https://en.zona.media/article/2022/05/11/casualties_eng 2) 46,000+ dead on the Ukrainian side https://ualosses.org/ 3) 10,000+ civilian deaths https://ukraine.un.org/en/253322-civilian-deaths-ukraine-war-top-10000-un-says 4) there is no point in proving the number of deaths before a full-scale war, I think these numbers are already in the public domain: approximately 14,000 people

You have some 100,000 victims listed, it can no longer be such a low estimate, I ask you to remove this

Democratic Republic of the Congo is listed twice.

I'm not sure why, but the DRC is listed twice on the table for Deaths by country in the 2023 section. The first says that deaths rose by 8,342, but the second says that deaths lowered by 3,902. Since the table goes by fatalities by country, it should be only one number. Tornadoboy7 (talk) 23:05, 8 October 2024 (UTC)

North Korea and South Korea

If North Korea is yellow at the map, then South Korea should be yellow too. Both countries are officially still at war. Dasomm (talk) 20:03, 14 October 2024 (UTC)

The only casualties as a result of fighting in the current or past year have been in North Korea. Clyde H. Mapping (talk) 19:53, 15 October 2024 (UTC)

Why is the USA White?

At the very least, America is still involved in the Syrian civil war and the Red Sea conflict. Yes, they only had 3 non-combat losses in the Red Sea, but in the Middle East, a drone attacked their military base, and Biden personally met the coffins brought to America. This qualifies as 1-99 losses, so America needs to be repainted in Yellow. I insist. 31.202.71.56 (talk) 06:08, 18 October 2024 (UTC)

Total fatalities for Islamic State insurgency in the North Caucasus is incorrect

The source cited for total fatalities appears to be the fatalities for the first and second Chechen wars, not the ongoing insurgency. Total casualties for conflict according to the linked page appears to be around a thousand. Chiss5618 (talk) 19:01, 29 October 2024 (UTC)

Arab Israel conflict

Iran and proxies conflict with Israel isn't really part of arab Israeli conflict.

It should be in another category of Iran - Israel conflict, and maybe also part of Israel Palestine conflict, this war is lead by Iran and Hamas which are tied more to their religious! and national identities then their respective iranian and arab ones. 46.121.26.191 (talk) 20:32, 15 November 2024 (UTC)

Ending 2024’s article and creating 2025’s article

I suggest to anyone who edits this page. Please make sure that all the proper updates are made since the year is almost over and consider making 2025’s article. The world has changed so much since January. 2600:1702:5870:5930:50C6:F0D8:4A3:C3EB (talk) 19:37, 16 December 2024 (UTC)

Mozambican election crisis

There's an uprising in major cities against FRELIMO, with hundreds of deaths already recorded. This should be included in the article. 87.196.74.198 (talk) 09:54, 27 December 2024 (UTC)

Ethiopian civil conflict

The number we have was taken on December 4th, and was just a few below the 10k margin. Maybe we should get an updated one because it's statistically extremely likely it passed it 2604:3D09:1F7F:8B00:149C:3CA4:EA67:41DA (talk) 03:35, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
