There are many extracurricular activities available to students at Harper Creek High School. These include: Student Government; Distributive Educational Clubs of America (DECA); the Harper Creek chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS); Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD); Asset; etc.
Harper Creek is one of three high school athletic programs in the state of ] to use the ] as a mascot. Harper Creek athletics are most popular for a thirty six game regular season winning streak in football from 1994-97. In 1999, the Harper Creek football team advanced to the state semi-finals against ], the furthest any team from Battle Creek has reached since the MHSAA Playoff Expansion to 256 teams. In 2000-01 Harper Creek won the final Twin Valley Men's All Sports trophy, an awarded given to the winningest athletic program for that year.

In 2003, the Harper Creek Quiz Bowl team won the Class B State Championship and advanced to a national tournament. Harper Creek also fielded a team in the 2005 and 2006 that lost the state championships.

==Marching band==
The 2008 Harper Creek Marching Band consisted of 24 performers, 18 wind, 2 percussion, 3 colorguard, and 1 drum major. The theme this year is music from "]". Featuring four different selections, "I Want To Hold Your Hand", "Hey Jude" (featuring a Trumpet and Color Guard soloist), "Eleanor Rigby" (also featuring a Trumpet soloist), and "Magical Mystery Tour" / "A Hard Days Night". The band received 4th place at the Otsego Marching Band Invitational. Though a last place finish they did manage to bring home the Best Marching Award. As for the 2008 season, it has concluded. In 2004, the Colorguard managed to bring home two first-place finishes at the Hastings Competition and the Otsego Competitions, the band followed closely behind in second and third places. They will be returning in 2009.
