She was the yougnest of six children of Martin Lovrenčević and Ivana Lovrenčević. She was born in Zagreb on 3 March 1897. She met her future housband in 1915 when she was 18. He was 8 years older then her. In the same year, they both found job in office of lawyer dr. Aleksandar Horvat. She had three children with him, the oldest daughter Višnja (1923), son Velimir (nicknamed Braco, died in 2006) and the youngest daughter Mirjana (8 November 1926). His daughters are still alive.
