Hi! I see that youre one the first editors who made the main UST article become a good article before. That's great! But could you help me with its reassessment? I have re-nominated it again ]. Its been months but it has not progressed. The article was already assessed some time in 2022, see ], but was quick-failed. Is there anything we can do to speed up its reassessment? Thank you! 00:24, 7 February 2024 (UTC) ] (]) 00:24, 7 February 2024 (UTC)

:It's an uphill battle now. Personally, ] and other such assessments are overrated and gets bogged down like what is happening right now, so I'm not really interested in this. It's much easier than ] with similar reward of it being on the Main Page for 8 hours or so. ] (]) 01:09, 7 February 2024 (UTC)

Help with the main UST article

Hi! I see that youre one the first editors who made the main UST article become a good article before. That's great! But could you help me with its reassessment? I have re-nominated it again here. Its been months but it has not progressed. The article was already assessed some time in 2022, see here, but was quick-failed. Is there anything we can do to speed up its reassessment? Thank you! 00:24, 7 February 2024 (UTC) Pampi1010 (talk) 00:24, 7 February 2024 (UTC)

It's an uphill battle now. Personally, WP:GA and other such assessments are overrated and gets bogged down like what is happening right now, so I'm not really interested in this. The benefits are minimal compared to the effort; I'd rather work on a new article as a DYK at this point. It's much easier than WP:GA with similar reward of it being on the Main Page for 8 hours or so. Howard the Duck (talk) 01:09, 7 February 2024 (UTC)

Phillipines congressional district maps

Hello! I am looking for shape files of the congressional districts in Philippines from 2001 to 2010. I saw that you created a map for an article on wikipedia and I wonder if you have those polygon files that could share or if you could advice me on how to produce my own maps. Thank you. 155.245.155.209 (talk) 12:22, 8 February 2024 (UTC)

Sorry I can only do PNGs. Those 2013 and beyond are in SVGs though. Howard the Duck (talk) 17:36, 8 February 2024 (UTC)

What applications or website do you use?

What application do you use for Philippine Election Maps (presidential) and for the seat graphs (not arch-style but the seating plan)for the House of Representatives? I am a neophyte editor here at wikipedia so this would be a big help. Thank you! ZoomerJournalist (talk) 10:11, 6 July 2024 (UTC)

WP:PINOY has blank maps which you can use. I then edit it by good old MSPaint. Someone else does SVG versions now so I defer to them.
For congressional diagrams I use InkScape. Howard the Duck (talk) 11:02, 6 July 2024 (UTC)

Basketball at the Summer Olympics

Sorry. I was supposed to revert with the AGF button and clicked the vandal button instead.
Other user was combining USSR, Unified Team and Russia into one table when FIBA hasn't done that. (IOC, AFAIK, doesn't do medal standings.) Other user was citing "NOC" as sources but used poor quality ones that would fail WP:RS. On a subsequent edit, I used a reference directly from FIBA. Howard the Duck (talk) 23:44, 28 July 2024 (UTC)

UST Growling Tigers

The article's title is abysmal, why do we have to put everything? I tried to move it, but wikipedia doesnt allow the move. This is sad . KingTiger1611 (talk) 22:05, 4 October 2024 (UTC)

This was originally at "UST Growling Tigers". Then it was moved by User:Bagoto to "UST Growling Tigers and Tigresses" citing a WP:CBB naming convention. Apparently this user forgot that the scope of the article also included high school sports, so I moved it, following User:Bagoto's reasoning to the much more inclusive current name.
Create an WP:RM not just for UST but for the 17 other UAAP and NCAA varsity articles, propose it to be named to the male collegiate nickname, and I'll support that. Howard the Duck (talk) 22:11, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
Hayyy so I didnt realize that the changes are not just for UST. >insert a lot of emojis here< Wont be suprised if later on University of Santo Tomas will become University of Santa Tomas, Adamson to Adamdaughters. The moves are useless and just plain ugly. KingTiger1611 (talk) 03:50, 5 October 2024 (UTC)
Daddyneo, Mommyneo and Kuyaneo sounds great.
With that being said, make an WP:RM involving all 18 teams (plus a couple of high school ones, so probably a 20-article RM), propose that it be moved to the collegiate men's nickname, then I'll support. Howard the Duck (talk) 10:37, 5 October 2024 (UTC)

Regarding about simulcast of ABS-CBN programs on ALLTV

Hello, sir @Howard the Duck.... Do you know that several programs from ABS-CBN such as Magandang Buhay and It's Showtime are finally and officially comeback to the original frequencies because it also air on ALLTV...??? And there is the reliable sources for this:

https://www.abante.com.ph/2024/04/30/eere-sa-alltv-regine-velasquez-di-iiwanan-ang-magandang-buhay/

https://balita.mb.com.ph/2024/06/18/tahimik-lang-its-showtime-balik-channel-2-napapanood-na-rin-sa-alltv/

Thanks..... 2001:448A:1020:5990:3877:DF64:9E3A:504C (talk) 04:07, 5 October 2024 (UTC)

If this was targeted advertising, this is a poor version of it. Howard the Duck (talk) 10:38, 5 October 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for your comment at the tectonic plate lowercasing RM, now relisted

Thanks, and the RM at the talk page of Eurasian Plate was relisted on the 15th, so not much time left. Logic and commonsense would keep the uppercasing on the 90+ plates under discussion, but lowercasers are using the casing guideline, which some of us have countered with WP:IAR and WP:COMMONSENSE which is under fairly intense discussion. If you agree with this approach, or even have more comments, your additional participation may be useful. Thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 14:24, 18 October 2024 (UTC)

I suppose there should be a site wide discussion on this. It's the same people pushing for decapitalization of proper names. They did with government positions and sports tournaments, now they are aiming for geographical features. Howard the Duck (talk) 15:27, 18 October 2024 (UTC)
I'd suggest getting good geology books, illustrate that most usages on those books are predominantly Proper Names, then use that as proof.
Of course if people find no consistent usage, then default is to use common names. Howard the Duck (talk) 15:40, 18 October 2024 (UTC)
