== ] updates ==
Just a quick note. I had a rough lesson a few years ago when I made the mistake of trying to edit a page that mentioned my company (won't do THAT again :). Anyhow it has been a few years and I have been moved to edit again. This time it's a page on a drug that seemed biased to me compared to the other research I was doing.. Anyway I have summoned up the courage to do some edits (gulp!) and would appreciate any help or guidance you have to offer as I go. I want to be very careful and conscientious. I actually have no real medical expertise but in checking the sources it seems that many of them have been very selective regarding the insights they have decided to bring into the article. Every positive statement about the drug is "balanced" with doubts and concerns, leaving an overall impression about the drug that seems extremely negative compared to descriptions from reputable sources like the NIH and NIMH which feel more balanced to me, especially for a drug that has been approved and actively prescribed for 40 years or so for ADHD. I have no idea of why someone would want to skew the article but I suppose there might be all kinds of possible reasons. Anyhow I am contacting you here for two reasons.

You are receiving this message because you are on ] for ]. The drafters note that the scope of the case was somewhat unclear, and clarify that the scope is {{tqq|The interaction of named parties in the ] topic area and examination of the ] process that led to ] ] to ]}}. Because this was unclear, two changes are being made:
1. I have always remembered your kindness to me when I was new and felt attacked here. I wanted to let you know that this is the primary reason I decided to step up and do some editing when I perceived a bias and had concerns.

First, '''the Committee will accept submissions for new parties for the next three days''', until '''23:59, 10 December 2024 (UTC)'''. Anyone who wishes to suggest a party to the case may do so by creating a new section on ], providing a reason with ] as to why the user should be added, and notifying the user. After the three-day period ends, no further submission of parties will be considered except in exceptional circumstances. Because the Committee only hears disputes that have failed to be resolved by the usual means, proposed parties should have been recently taken to AE/AN/ANI, and either not sanctioned, or incompletely sanctioned. If a proposed party has not been taken to AE/AN/ANI, evidence is needed as to why such an attempt would have been ineffective.
2. If you have time I would appreciate some light guidance as I proceed to edit this page. I am still new to editing and don't want to make mistakes, especially since I have zero expertise in this area, although I am not a completely disinterested party (This started because I want to evaluate the drug which was prescribed for my son).

Second, the ] '''has been extended by a week''', and will now close at '''23:59, 21 December 2024 (UTC)'''. For the Arbitration Committee, <b>]]</b>&nbsp;(]&nbsp;•&nbsp;he/they) 03:20, 8 December 2024 (UTC)

:Glad you decided to come around and do a bit of editing! Looking at the sources is, of course, the best way to edit an article. I also see you've been going over it on the talk page, which is generally a good idea as well.
:That being said, I'm not sure the sentence the way it's worded is necessarily a good one for the lead paragraph, especially since one of the sources (source 1) explicitly contradicts it, and says users are more prone to cocaine addiction, and that if used in a similar manner to cocaine (snorting/injection) it is indeed just as addictive. Other sources seem to think it is not as much so. When there are conflicting sources like that, it's best to give the issue a more in-depth treatment in the body of the article, where the subject can be given treatment by summarizing either side without taking a particular one. If you can get your hands on the NIMH study that's frequently referenced by other sources, I think that would be very helpful indeed. I don't know offhand how reputable the journals published by source 3 are, but it is a for-profit and explicitly appeals to "marketers" on its website, so I'd tend to take it with a dose of salt. (Luckily, the worst effect of said salt dosage is a healthy sense of skepticism). The article is in pretty poor shape though, and could certainly use some copyediting for flow and tone. As it stands now, it really seems to jump all over the place. I'd work at fixing that first, and once it's in good order as far as its flow and organization goes, you'll often find it's much easier to find a good way to add in additional concepts. That's especially difficult on controversial subjects when you have dueling sources, of course, but since it's a subject that I'm sure you've checked into thoroughly due to your own circumstances, might be worth doing. ] <small>]</small> 08:17, 24 November 2011 (UTC)

OK, so the judgment is in. You have any suggestions on what I can do? I know the notice says I can appeal, but I'm not sure trying to appeal the sanction immediately after it was handed down is a good idea. ] (]) 02:15, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
:{{u|Mk8mlyb}}, there are many articles on Misplaced Pages which aren't about the Palestine-Israel conflict. Anything from articles about chemistry to history to art. And they all have ways they could be improved. So, find some of those to work on, find some good sources to work from, and start in. My other advice, for you specifically, would be to drop the tone of "Well of course this is what I'm doing, because my way is right and yours is wrong" that you seemed to be taking previously. An approach like that will rarely lead to constructive dialogue; it will just put people's back up. If you can work constructively in other areas for some months, I think you'd find people quite willing to consider lifting the ban after that. ] <small>]</small> 06:13, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
::Understood. For the record, the reason I took the stance I did was because I had heard news of pro-Palestine and pro-Hamas protests celebrating the October 7 attack, many of which turned violent and into attempts to target Jews. I was deeply upset by this, and when I looked at Misplaced Pages's coverage of the conflict, I felt that it was promoting the same narratives that were used to justify the terrorist attack. I still stand by my belief that Misplaced Pages's rules and policies, such as ], are not being properly followed or are being twisted to promote anti-Israel bias and anti-semitic tropes, though I don't think the people involved are antisemitic. You have the right to disagree, but that's just how I feel. I have a few questions, though: can I edit the ] or the ] articles in any way? Or are those off-limits too? ] (]) 06:48, 10 December 2024 (UTC)

Hello Seraphimblade, I respect the integrity you're enforcing here, and I get it. I'd like to re-edit the article with your feedback in mind. I can assure you that all attributions are genuine, and you'll be able to follow the links to the actual press on the show, should we get that far. A couple of months ago, you closed the draft with the result "delete." Thank you for handling the closure. However, I noticed that the draft had limited discussion. I believe moving the draft instead of closing it outright might have been a better decision, especially if the AfD concluded without a definitive result.
Yes, please, let me attempt to work on it in the sandbox. That would be enormously helpful. Again, I'm happy to go back and forth as long as it takes. Thank you so much for your guidance. ] (]) 13:59, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

The limited discussion made it difficult for me to fully understand the core issues, which I believe could be addressed in the future. I would appreciate feedback on the specific reasons that led to the "delete" outcome. If possible, I kindly request restoring the draft and initiating a talk page discussion to facilitate improvement.

Scam warningIf you are visiting this page because someone claiming to be me contacted you asking for any payment of any type, it is not me and you are being scammed. If they are threatening to delete or take other adverse action against some article, they can't actually do that and you should not under any circumstances pay them any money or further engage with them. See also this scam warning regarding the Articles for Creation process and editors who edit for pay.
As I frequently work at the arbitration enforcement noticeboard, I am "aware" of all the various areas covered by discretionary sanctions, and this notice may be considered evidence of awareness if enforcement is requested. It is not necessary to leave me notices advising me of such areas.

Palestine-Israel articles 5 updates

You are receiving this message because you are on the update list for Palestine-Israel articles 5. The drafters note that the scope of the case was somewhat unclear, and clarify that the scope is The interaction of named parties in the WP:PIA topic area and examination of the WP:AE process that led to two referrals to WP:ARCA. Because this was unclear, two changes are being made:

First, the Committee will accept submissions for new parties for the next three days, until 23:59, 10 December 2024 (UTC). Anyone who wishes to suggest a party to the case may do so by creating a new section on the evidence talk page, providing a reason with WP:DIFFS as to why the user should be added, and notifying the user.

Second, the evidence phase has been extended by a week, and will now close at 23:59, 21 December 2024 (UTC). For the Arbitration Committee, HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 03:20, 8 December 2024 (UTC)

Arbitration enforcement

OK, so the judgment is in. You have any suggestions on what I can do? I know the notice says I can appeal, but I'm not sure trying to appeal the sanction immediately after it was handed down is a good idea. Mk8mlyb (talk) 02:15, 10 December 2024 (UTC)

I was deeply upset by this, and when I looked at Misplaced Pages's coverage of the conflict, I felt that it was promoting the same narratives that were used to justify the terrorist attack. I still stand by my belief that Misplaced Pages's rules and policies, such as WP:NPOV, are not being properly followed or are being twisted to promote anti-Israel bias and anti-semitic tropes, though I don't think the people involved are antisemitic. You have the right to disagree, but that's just how I feel. I have a few questions, though: can I edit the Israel or the Palestine articles in any way? Or are those off-limits too? Please remember that while it is not a violation of your ban to request clarification on it, you cannot discuss the subject itself anywhere on Misplaced Pages, including here. You certainly cannot edit the articles about Israel or Palestine. Seraphimblade 07:00, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
Oh, OK. By the way, how do you like my recent editing on this page? Mk8mlyb (talk) 05:17, 11 December 2024 (UTC)
I'm not the biggest baseball fan myself (I know, I get some trouble for it already), but I know statistics are quite important to many people who follow it, so I'm sure someone will appreciate having the details there! Seraphimblade 10:57, 11 December 2024 (UTC)
Do you know how long it takes for editors to become administrators, on average? How long did it take you? Mk8mlyb (talk) 06:21, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
It's not gained by tenure. The community has to approve a request for adminship. It took me about a year and a half, but that was a long time ago. Seraphimblade 11:25, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
OK, understood. Can I edit the Iran article? Mk8mlyb (talk) 02:30, 15 December 2024 (UTC)

Hypothetically you could as long as you are very careful to avoid any material in it regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. But it would be very easy to stumble into that, and I don't think that's a wise choice. Seraphimblade 17:57, 15 December 2024 (UTC)

OK. I have a question to ask. What do you think of Ronald Reagan? I personally think he's one of the greatest presidents ever, but he made some mistakes and I don't see him as a god. So I'll understand if you don't agree. Mk8mlyb (talk) 05:31, 21 December 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for asking, but I'm really not interested in getting into any on-wiki discussions regarding politics. Seraphimblade 04:12, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
OK. Merry Christmas! I have a question to ask. Do you know anyone on here that is on Tv Tropes? I'd like to talk to them. Mk8mlyb (talk) 06:52, 26 December 2024 (UTC)
I've occasionally read something on TV Tropes, but I don't know a thing about it other than that. Seraphimblade 09:45, 26 December 2024 (UTC)

AFD Closer Tej Giri (feedback)

Hello,

A couple of months ago, you closed the draft with the result "delete." Thank you for handling the closure. However, I noticed that the draft had limited discussion. I believe moving the draft instead of closing it outright might have been a better decision, especially if the AfD concluded without a definitive result.

The limited discussion made it difficult for me to fully understand the core issues, which I believe could be addressed in the future. I would appreciate feedback on the specific reasons that led to the "delete" outcome. If possible, I kindly request restoring the draft and initiating a talk page discussion to facilitate improvement.

Thank you. Endrabcwizart (talk) 07:44, 23 December 2024 (UTC)

As the closer of an AfD, I am not making the decision on what I personally think should happen with the article, just evaluating the discussion. So, I have nothing to add to what you would find there. The reason for the "delete" outcome is that this was the consensus the discussion reached. Seraphimblade 08:01, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
