Hello Morim - welcome to wikipedia. Please note that wikipedia does have a policy on external links. Hello, I'm Bachrach44. I wanted to let you know that I removed an external link you added to the page Yom Kippur, because to me it seemed inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. This is your second warning. Please stop spamming. Bachrach44 (talk) 18:41, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
Hello, Morim madrichim. We welcome your contributions to Misplaced Pages, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Yom Kippur, you may need to consider our guidance on conflicts of interest.
All editors are required to comply with Misplaced Pages's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.
If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:
- Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
- Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
- Avoid linking to the Misplaced Pages article or website of your organization in other articles (see Misplaced Pages:Spam).
- Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Misplaced Pages's content policies.
Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.
For information on how to contribute to Misplaced Pages when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Misplaced Pages does not exist to advertise your cause, however noble. --Orange Mike | Talk 02:15, 16 September 2012 (UTC)
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for making legal threats or taking legal action. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text{{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.You are not allowed to edit Misplaced Pages while the threats stand or the legal action is unresolved. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 22:15, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
external links and legal threats
Hello Morim Madrichim -
I see you're new to wikipedia, so allow me to welcome you. I am actually a big fan of the JDC and their work around the world. You have been adding links to your website, and yes, I have been removing them. Misplaced Pages has some guidelines on external links which you may want to look over. The bottom line is that an external link needs to add substantive information to the subject covered in the wikipedia article which is not included in the wikipedia article. Although there are pages on your website which are related to the various Jewish holidays, simply being related is not enough. There are, quite literally, millions of pages related to Yom Kippur on the internet. Misplaced Pages is not in the business of being a giant link directory. If you would like to submit to a link directory, I personally recommend http://www.dmoz.org. Misplaced Pages is also not in here for people to use for promotional purposes. You have some great articles on your website, but this isn't the place to advertise. In fact, repeatedly adding external links to a website for the purposes of promotion is considered spam and is not allowed.
Lastly, you should know the wikipedia also has a policy on legal threats. In short, legal threats on wikipedia pages are not allowed. If you make legal threats, or pursue legal action, you will be blocked from editing. Legal threats are also reported, and I am obligated to inform you that I have reported your threat to the administrator's noticeboard. I would like to reiterate a point I made there though, which is that I'm sure this issue can be resolved reasonably. Many people who are new to editing wikipedia are unaware of the policies that are in place that have helped create the structure that keeps wikipedia a useful resource. I hope I have been able to fill you in on some of the finer points of how wikipedia works. --Bachrach44 (talk) 22:27, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
