This institution was founded in 2002. Manas Ray, Principal, this college became perhaps the first-of-its-kind Law College in Bengal which was fully run through self-financing. It is spread over a campus of almost twenty acres of land just next to the district town of Midnapore, West Bengal. |

It started with a five year LL.B. course in 2002, when it was following the syllabus of the University of Calcutta. Shortly thereafter, it had to start following the newly-set syllabi of the University Grants Commission (U.G.C) of India as the course curriculum. It had to get into a semester system from an initially planned annual system, which was not a smooth affair for both the students as well as the teachers. Eventually, it got affiliated to the Vidyasagar University, which agreed to confer a B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) upon successful completion of the five years' course. Soon after, the college started a three year post-graduate LL.B. course also. The college has a resourceful library that serves to study various areas of law. At one time, the college used to regularly coordinate and collaborate with the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS), Kolkata in holding seminars within its campus. Eminent lawyers, jurists, academics as well as retired and sitting judges from the High Court of Calcutta used to deliver speeches and guest lectures. |

This year, the college is having its 10th year since foundation. Over the years, the college had produced noted lawyers, judges, educationists and scholars in the field of law. Students from this institutions are studying in several National Law Schools. Some of them are Chiradeep Basak(National Law School of India University, Bangalore)who has been the only consistent topper for ten semesters till date in this institution, Sakabda Roy (National Law School of India University, Bangalore), Soumya Kanti Sinha (NALSAR, Hyderabad), Mainan Ray (NLU Jodhpur) Suparna Das (GNLU, Gandhinagar), Niladri Mandal (HNLU, Raipur). The alumni of this college are contributing in various fields of their personal and social life all across the country. Some of them are presently associated with National Judicial Academy, Judiciary, National Law Schools. Who knows? Tomorrow they might make a mark even at a global level. |

Only time can answer that. Not only that few of its faculty also ornamented various prestigious posts in different fields,Like Dr.Arup Kumar Poddar,Associate Professor,NUJS became the acting Registrar of NUJS, Mr.Santosh Kumar Pathak becomes the Judicial Magitrate, Students like Jhilam Gupta, Sangram Saha become also Judicial Magistrate.Midnapore Law college in its early step of inititatioan was comparable to only any National Law School. But with the passage of time the all glory of MLC went off.Specifically, after leaving the founder Principal Dr.Manas Ray.Few miscreants occupied the college and make running the college in their own way shutting up the welfare of the college. |
