ArbCom 2021 Elections voter message
Hello! Voting in the 2021 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 6 December 2021. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Misplaced Pages arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Request for collaboration
Hi,
I am preparing the article Gambling in Quebec. It is my first article so I am looking for facilitation to avoid common mistakes. I have found that you have already created a similar article about USA. In few hours I will be ready to show it. If you will think that it is too raw for the main space I will just try to rework it. Also, I tried to avoid any brands and give a basic overlook for a question. So let's keep in touch! User cruiser Ben (talk) 16:59, 4 January 2022 (UTC)
Here it is User:User_cruiser_Ben/Gambling_in_Quebec. Is it fine?
- You should have written a lede before adding the article to mainspace. "Article name is Gambling in Quebec" isn't an appropriate lede at all. I'll leave that for you to update. I made some minor copyedits. Rray (talk) 20:51, 6 January 2022 (UTC)
- thank I will try to fix it in short time User cruiser Ben (talk) 08:01, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
Does such lede enough? User cruiser Ben (talk) 06:29, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
- How do you feel like it compares with ledes in similar articles? Rray (talk) 20:19, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Home Made Simple
The article Home Made Simple has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Branding of several things, none of which are notable on their own. Current sources are just PR fluff
While all constructive contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Ten Pound Hammer • 00:38, 16 May 2022 (UTC)
- 2007 was a long time ago. I don't even remember writing that article, although looking at the history, I did. Weird. At any rate, no argument from me. Thanks for the headsup. Rray (talk) 01:37, 16 May 2022 (UTC)
Reversion to Dying Earth
I don't know why you reverted my edit, you didn't leave any explanatory comment. The material was factual, on topic and properly cited, and the heading change better matched the actual content. Kitoba (talk) 15:09, 12 August 2022 (UTC)
- This would be better addressed on the talk page for the article rather than here on my talk page. Rray (talk) 16:29, 13 August 2022 (UTC)
Reversion at Card counting
Hi! You reverted my very first edit at Card counting (I'm planned more of it) and describe it as 'reference spam'. But I did more than just adding the reference, why you reverted all of it? You could just change the reference although it was fine enough. Beside that, what reference should I choose instead? They all looks pretty much the same on this topic. I will be very grateful if you guide me how to choose 'not spam' referense for this edit (I'm aware of WP:RS). Thank you! Mr.boombook (talk) 13:32, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
- Let's discuss it on the article talk page instead of here, but the short answer is that you linked to a source that shows no signs of being reliable. Also, content shouldn't be added without an appropriate reference, so deleting the additional content until a reliable reference is added is the appropriate edit to make in this situation. It's your responsibility as a new editor to learn about what constitutes a reliable source for the content you're adding. Maybe start by reading Misplaced Pages:Reliable_sources. I hope that helps. Rray (talk) 13:48, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for your answer. Like I said earlier, I'm aware of WP:RS. And I think this source is reliable enough if we take into account that we are talking about gambling. Could you please explain, why are you think otherwise? While reverted my edit you not only delete additional content, but also bookmark to https://en.wikipedia.org/Four_Horsemen_of_the_Apocalypse_(blackjack). I'd like to put it back, don't you mind? Mr.boombook (talk) 15:09, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
- I don't see anything on the reliable sources page related to using lower-quality sources for articles in the gambling space. Please let me know if I'm missing something. Also, please bring it up your proposed content changes for the article rather than here, please. That's the appropriate place to discuss content for that article, not here. Thanks. GGPoker draft review
Hello, I see that you're a member of both the Gambling and Poker Wikiprojects - I work for NSUSLab, GGPoker's platform developer, and I'm looking for feedback on a draft article for GGPoker. Just to be clear, I have a financial conflict of interest which is why I submitted the draft via AfC. The first draft of the article was declined, but the article has since been edited and I'd really appreciate any kind of objective feedback, be that positive or negative.
Anyway, thanks for your time! Chris H (GGPoker) (talk) 11:00, 9 December 2022 (UTC)
