== Trainwreck of an article and some suggestions ==
This articles isn't bad, it's atrocious ! Here are some of the problems :
:1. Quotes about characters - this is simply unnecessary and this quote boxes consume space
:2. Trivial characters - some really minor characters that don't play much of a role like Lukas Zurburg who only appeared in promotion material and really minor single mission targets, Israel Bissel the who know ?, and a ton characters that are merely mentioned like Jesus, ancient historical figures and these fictional assassins whose only purpose is to hide collectibles for the best armor in the game in their tombs. And holy cow, Christina's page is huge for a character with little screen time. It's like a minute to minute football live commentary. Just trim it down to essentials.
:3. Eras - enlightenment era ? renaissance ? These eras don't have firm fixed dates and I propose the following order Main characters, Modern era characters followed by one title for each game and it should keep only the most important characters not every single target and historical person that makes a brief cameo.
:4. Cast - the section at the end is unnecessary, we can add the voice actor for important characters at the end of the character's section.
:5. Historical characters - there is lots of them. Some like Leonardo da Vinci and the Borgias play an important part in the story, but many of them aren't that important and are there just for a cameo appearance (Copernicus, Marco Polo's uncle and father, Sultan Selim etc.) We can make a new page for these plus the game has an exhaustive wiki. --] (]) 21:20, 21 November 2015 (UTC)

==List of historical characters in Assassin's Creed==
While I do appreciate the considerable amount effort that has gone into this article, and I like how the historical characters have been recently organized into one section, the article has gotten ] at the time of writing with the constant additions of content. I propose that we should either go through the entire article and try to trim non-essential stuff, or simply split the entries for historical characters into a new, separate article titled ]. I believe I have found enough sources to justify the notability guideline for such a list, and while I understand that size rule guidelines apply less strongly to lists, there is no sortable table that would be broken by such a move. In my personal opinion, it also helps with navigation as well. Pinging two of the most active editors on this list article for their input: {{u|General_Clanker}} {{u|Jasca Ducato}} ] (]) 17:08, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
:Truth be told, I've never been particularly convinced of the need to have character bios for non-fictional characters who appear in the series, except in those instances where they play a major role in their respective appearances; for example, Rashid ad-Din Sinan, Niccolò Machiavelli, or Cesare Borgia. Other non-fictional characters, such as the Marquis de Sade only tend to make an appearance for the sake of it, contributing little to the overall story. That said, I certainly wouldn't be against the idea of splitting ''non-fictional'' characters into a separate article, as I think that splitting by historical will do little to reduce the overall size of the new article. Alternatively, we could also split into multiple lists by game (e.g. List of Assassin's Creed II characters, List of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood characters). -- ] <small>(] | ])</small> 20:52, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
::Yes, that's what I meant, historic non-fictional figures who have been adapted into the stories of each game by Ubisoft's development team. I have encountered discussions from pop culture/video game websites as well as academic sources which specifically discuss the use of certain historical figures in Assassin's Creed fiction, and that is the basis of my idea. I don't agree with your idea to have multiple lists by game because we simply lack the secondary sourcing necessary to support such lists which are confined to a per game basis, and I can predict with certainty that the rest of the video game Wikiproject will object to the glut of articles being produced. Such a list should be trimmed and properly curated, of course, because we don't want to end up with an ] and that goes against Misplaced Pages policy. Right now, information is being added indiscriminately to the list regardless of whether secondary sourcing actually supports it. This article has been problematic and excessively bloated for quite some time now, and we really should do something about it. ] (]) 23:22, 12 April 2022 (UTC) |

Split the article
This article is quite big and hard to understand without more sections sub-sections, especially for certain characters such as Desmond Miles, Altaïr ibn-La'Ahad and Ezio Auditore da Firenze. Splitting the article for the ones mentioned should be considered --DingleMr (talk) 19:50, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
- Frankly I don´t see the necessity for that. I think there's nothing wrong with this article. I don't think you should split an article unless there is a logical reason content-wise to do so, and only if it's really necessary. In this case, and in most cases, the right titles and subtitles and a clear table of contents should be able to do the trick. In the case of Desmond Miles for instance, a few extra subsections in that large piece of text might indeed be useful -- I'll try to give it a shot. --RagingR2 (talk) 10:47, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
- Well, I gave it a shot, and all I can think of is splitting the text according to the games in which the events take place. But, doing that I actually wondered why there is so much "plot" information, in a section about a character. Shouldn't this article be limited purely to some general information about the characters? Plot-wise, I think the information on Misplaced Pages should be limited to the "plot" section on the wiki-page of the corresponding game. I think Misplaced Pages shouldn't contain in-depth descriptions of every little event in the game, and certainly not on the page that purely describes the characters. So if you ask me, a lot of text should simply be cut; especially from the longer sections about Desmond, Altaïr, etc. --RagingR2 (talk) 11:00, 14 December 2010 (UTC)

C-Class
To anyone editing this page regularly, lets try and get this page up to a C-Class or a B-Class page. Outlaw265 (talk) 12:13, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
Assessment
Unfortunately the article can only be promoted to Start class. Wikis cannot be used per WP:Reliable sources. I have removed them, but it leaves an incredibly long article with only three external sources. Something of this length would need at least 10-15 external sources to pass C-Class. Check Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Video games/Sources for sources that would be acceptable. --Teancum (talk) 13:00, 6 February 2011 (UTC)

The arabian name of Altair
Hi, why if I can try to translate the original name of Altair (in arabian carachters) with google translate, the meaning is "Fly it's not rubbish"? Is it just an error of the traslator or....a joke of the writer of this voice?
- According to the makers, it is eagle, that's what we should go with. Sir William Matthew Flinders Petrie | Say Shalom! 06:43, 23 July 2011 (UTC)
Google translator doesn't do that anymore, couldn't you have misspelled it? aṭ-ṭāʾir can mean both bird or flying. It really doesn't mean Eagle, but we have to take into consideration Altair as the name for star - an abbreviation of the Arabic phrase النسر الطائر, an-nasr aṭ-ṭā’ir (English: The flying eagle). I think that it is also a reason for pronunciation Altair and not aṭ-ṭā’ir (there is actually neither L nor Y). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.111.93.162 (talk) 21:44, 28 April 2012 (UTC)

Aveline as Desmond's Ancestor - (Aveline de Grandpré entry)
The reasoning stated for Desmond being unable to relive the memories of two ancestors in the same timeline is incorrect. These are genetic memories. The reason Altair was not followed was because his genes had been passed down at that moment and anything he experienced afterwards could not be relived as Altair by Desmond. Proposed Ratonhnhaké:ton split
A proposal has been made to create an article specifically for Ratonhnhaké:ton, much like we have one for Desmond Miles, Altaïr ibn-La'Ahad and Ezio Auditore da Firenze. I've put in place a second proposal because the original suggested we move to an article titled "Connor (Assassin's Creed)", whereas the character's actual name is Ratonhnaké:ton.
Personally, I do not think we yet have enough information to warrant the creation of a separate article, mainly because he has only appeared in one game, to date; I am interested in hearing others view on the matter though. --Jasca Ducato (talk) 08:40, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
- I'll give this until the 20th (which will be two weeks since the split was proposed) and if nobody has responded, I'll remove the templates from the article. --Jasca Ducato (talk) 09:34, 18 September 2013 (UTC)
Connor (Assassin's Creed). Ratataotakon is near unpronounceable. --Niemti (talk) 11:42, 18 September 2013 (UTC)
- Can you pronounce this? Your ability to pronounce a word has no baring on what an article should be named; especially since you're going to be reading it, not speaking it. Also, it is spelt 'Ratonhnhaké:ton'; spelling it any different just leads me to believe you don't know how to spell. --Jasca Ducato (talk) 12:13, 18 September 2013 (UTC)
- There's no need to use it, just like most media articles are not using that Ratpokemon or whatever. ( etc) "Connor" is super easy and official too. --Niemti (talk) 16:05, 18 September 2013 (UTC)
The AC3 protag is Connor
Refjwerklf::ifjrkofjAZ:on is in King Washington.
http://assassinscreed.ubi.com/en-gb/games/assassins-creed-3/ ("Connor: You are Connor (...)") --Niemti (talk) 12:14, 22 November 2013 (UTC)
- You're inability to even attempt to spell his name correctly is more than enough reason for me to believe your making these changes just to be difficult. The character was born Ratonhnhaké:ton, and the fact that he adopts the alias of Connor (which is already acknowledged in the article) does not change that. If you can't approach this discussion without making yourself out to be an ignorant child, leave it alone completely. --Jasca Ducato (talk) 12:45, 22 November 2013 (UTC)
- I don;t care what he was born. Rfrjefgvsdfufegdfuyuiofuyheru89fg7yteruioyfg8wtfuydctg7865447xh:on is only the protag of alternate-story uncanonical DLC. The main characters are "our two newest Assassins, Connor or Aveline de Grandpre". http://blog.ubi.com/assassins-creed-iii-and-assassins-creed-iii-liberation-now-available/ Talking about the Connor toys, Ubisoft refers to this alternative character as just one of "couple of Connor variants, including Tyranny of King Washington DLC’s Ratonhnhaké:ton." http://blog.ubi.com/todd-mcfarlane-assassins-creed-toys/ Here are the toys in the store: http://assassinscreed.ubi.com/en-gb/store/ "Discover this incredible life-size statue of Connor, the hero of the Assassin’s Creed®3 game." - Wrong. He was born Ratonhnhaké:ton, and he is the same character in the main story, as that in the Tyranny of King Washington which is, you seem to not know, canon. The fact that 'Connor' is shorter and easier to write, does not automatically give it overriding precedent. Until you can provide a source showing that he renounced his birth name, it remains as is. --Jasca Ducato (talk) 13:06, 23 November 2013 (UTC)
- Although Connor may not be his "real" name, I'd say that -- as a fictional character -- it his his more... not sure how to put this, "real world" name? The developers refer to him as Connor, the media refers to him as Connor, and if you were to go out and ask someone "Hey, what's the name of ACIII's protag" they'd answer "Connor". While in-universe his name may be technically Ratonhnhaké:ton, from an out-of-universe perspective (which Misplaced Pages is ideally written from), Connor is his real and most common name.
- Though I'll be upfront and honest about having yet to actually play ACIII, so take my view with a pinch of salt. – Bellum (talk) (contribs) 02:58, 24 November 2013 (UTC)
- It doesant' matter "he was born as" Rastapokemon. Solid Snake "was born as" David, and Master (Fallout) "was born as" Richard Moreau, and Johnny Cage "was born as" John Carlton, and it always doesn't matter. Here, it matters in the DLC, but otherwise it would be just a smallest footnote. Even on Google, it's only 195,000 vs 3,540,000 / 1,690,000 (despite DLC). Also, Connor can't "renounce his birth name", because he's a fictional character. You might read Misplaced Pages:Manual of Style/Writing about fiction sometime. --Niemti (talk) 11:23, 24 November 2013 (UTC)

Historical characters in the Assassin's Creed series
Should this article be split into Historcial, Fictional, Main character. At the very least, the historical section needs its own page (like they did with the Southern Victory Series: example 1, example 2). --71.107.35.42 (talk) 21:58, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
- This page is way to long. I think it is time to start splitting this list into smaller list or creating individual articles for at least the Primary Characters. --76.175.67.121 (talk) 16:37, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
- Due to the insane length of this article and the ridiculous amount of information. I recommend that we split the information into a page for the storyline and keep brief descriptions of all the characters (slightly longer ones for the main characters). --Inyouchuu shoku (talk) 00:05, 10 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Inyouchuu shoku: Are you still for the idea ? The article is frankly, garbage. The excessive historical info is also superfluous, like full names of some figures. --Killuminator (talk) 01:51, 22 November 2015 (UTC)

Trainwreck of an article and some suggestions
This articles isn't bad, it's atrocious ! Here are some of the problems :
- 1. Quotes about characters - this is simply unnecessary and this quote boxes consume space
- 3. Eras - enlightenment era ? renaissance ? These eras don't have firm fixed dates and I propose the following order Main characters, Modern era characters followed by one title for each game and it should keep only the most important characters not every single target and historical person that makes a brief cameo.
- 4. Cast - the section at the end is unnecessary, we can add the voice actor for important characters at the end of the character's section.
- 5. --Killuminator (talk) 21:20, 21 November 2015 (UTC)
Proper tagging of characters.
Added Proper tag's for voice actors Brent Skagford and Marcel Jeannin and linked to IMDB pages for both as no wiki page for either. Alex Ivanovici i have linked to the DE Misplaced Pages page as that is the only one that is available. Grammar error on Nicolas Flamel and tag was fixed.Slayer676 (talk) 03:44, 27 December 2018 (UTC)
Remove inaccurate pictures of characters.
I think all the historical pictures of the characters should be removed and/or replaced by pictures of the characters from game stills or concept art. The characters in the games are dramatic adaptations of the real people, and therefor not the actual people.Krughal (talk) 14:08, 2 April 2018 (UTC)
- I agree that the images should be removed, though I'm not convinced they necessarily need to be replaced with in-game counterparts. The only characters who might warrant an image are the main protagonists of each game. --Jasca Ducato (talk | contributions) 09:33, 3 April 2018 (UTC)

Odyssey: Kassandra/Alexios
As it states in the article, you can chose to play as either Kassandra or Alexios. I have only played as Kassandra so I could be wrong, but as far as I am concerned, both stories are identical. Kassandra died in 2018 at the age of 2476 years and, if you play as Alexios, he dies in 2018 as well. But in the article it states he died in 422 BCE. Suden13 (talk) 20:14, 24 July 2019 (UTC)
- The canonical protagonist is Kassandra (as per to game's accompanying novelisation). As such, Alexios' fate also lines up with its depiction in the novel, where he dies in 422 BCE. --Jasca Ducato (talk | contributions) 08:08, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
- I didn't even know all that. I just assumed it ends with the game. Thanks for explaining that. Suden13 (talk) 22:20, 25 July 2019 (UTC)

List of historical characters in Assassin's Creed
While I do appreciate the considerable amount effort that has gone into this article, and I like how the historical characters have been recently organized into one section, the article has gotten too big and unwieldly at the time of writing with the constant additions of content. I propose that we should either go through the entire article and try to trim non-essential stuff, or simply split the entries for historical characters into a new, separate article titled List of historical characters in Assassin's Creed. I believe I have found enough sources to justify the notability guideline for such a list, and while I understand that size rule guidelines apply less strongly to lists, there is no sortable table that would be broken by such a move. In my personal opinion, it also helps with navigation as well. Pinging two of the most active editors on this list article for their input: General_Clanker Jasca Ducato Haleth (talk) 17:08, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
- Truth be told, I've never been particularly convinced of the need to have character bios for non-fictional characters who appear in the series, except in those instances where they play a major role in their respective appearances; for example, Rashid ad-Din Sinan, Niccolò Machiavelli, or Cesare Borgia. Other non-fictional characters, such as the Marquis de Sade only tend to make an appearance for the sake of it, contributing little to the overall story. That said, I certainly wouldn't be against the idea of splitting non-fictional characters into a separate article, as I think that splitting by historical will do little to reduce the overall size of the new article. Alternatively, we could also split into multiple lists by game (e.g. List of Assassin's Creed II characters, List of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood characters). -- JascaDucato (talk | contributions) 20:52, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, that's what I meant, historic non-fictional figures who have been adapted into the stories of each game by Ubisoft's development team. Such a list should be trimmed and properly curated, of course, because we don't want to end up with an indiscriminate collection of information and that goes against Misplaced Pages policy. Right now, information is being added indiscriminately to the list regardless of whether secondary sourcing actually supports it. This article has been problematic and excessively bloated for quite some time now, and we really should do something about it. Haleth (talk) 23:22, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
