	Hello and thank you for reading my comment. I am a bit confused by this process. I have researched and added references including several news sources, yet my article continues to receive rejections. On a whim I looked up Tchoukball which has a wikipedia article and this sport mentions no news references. It does mention dozens of clubs and organizations associated with the main governing body of tchoukball as would be the case with Sabakiball if they were deemed to be news worthy. Perhaps I am missing something, but it seems that a completely unique patented sport that has grown in just 4 years to include participation by people across North America would warrant notability on Misplaced Pages. Perhaps, as an avid Sabakiballer, I am too close to the subject but I am curious as to what makes one subject notable while another is not. Is it number of years in the public? For example, more than 250,000 students in the Dallas/Fort Worth/Richardson area are playing Sabakiball through their Physical Education classes. This is in one state out of thirty three states that have implemented the sport in schools. I would imagine someone somewhere is wondering "what the heck is Sabakiball?" Isn't what wikipedia is for? Anyway, I will stop researching information for this article if it is just a matter of time in the public eye that is needed as eventually it will become more notable and someone else can write the article. I've added a link to the journal's ISSN in Worldcat, a link to an article that mentions the journal and its editor, and I may be able to link to its place in the Library of Congress's catalog. However, when I look at the entries for other scholarly journals, they don't really go beyond those kinds of links to establish their notability. For example: ] and ]. Would adding those links (and a little infobox like the other entries have) suffice to establish this journal's notability?

	Hi, I'm pretty new to Misplaced Pages. I need help I do not understand that if you submit new data and if someone removes it with the former content, why are they allowed to have their data there but you cannot? Especially if it has to do with new scientific data on a subject? Isn't it only fair and just that everyone have fair chance to equally present their content equally? What does it hurt if the data is informative and not hurting anyone? Just because it's new and someone doe not like it what gives them the right to have their data there but you cannot have yours there? Can someone please guide me and explain this to me? But when I tried to post the data back to the subject matter a third time on Gliese 581 g I had a note that it would be removed, and I do not understand why? What did I do wrong? Except to want to place new available data and why is it not allowed as it seems to me? It would seem that persons would first allow all data to be reviewed as it should be in the scientific process and allow both pro and con scientific data to be presented. 	Thank you for the message. Last month, I prepared sections of my published books and presented in the wikipedia, but they were deleted by someone based on an "assumption" that they seemed to be advertising. That was not true, and all my effort for one week to prepare the files were deleted by an assumption. He/she could at least notify me so that I could keep a copy of the file until a final decision is reached on that point. A deletion should be based on a proven fact not on a fiction.

	I am not publishing articles. Please, this issue should be cleared that I am not posting an article, rather, I am posting a published book, and, therefore, no part it can be changed or edited. I am introducing the titles of my published books. There is no selling or any kind of advertising in this. My books are published with Amazon, and can be reviewed for free by all the people in the world.

	For the introduction the title of a book, however, it helps readers if there is a synopsis of the book and a bit information about the educational background of the author. This is similar to a title like:
	The Misers or Gone With The Wind. If such titles are searched in the wikipedia, what information about those works would be presented in the pages of wikipedia: the title of the book, a synopsis of the book, sample pages of the book, information about the author, and links for related subjects or books or articles in that regard.

	I have kept a copy of the information in my sandbox for the moment, until a final decision with a wikipedia authority is reached. Then, I will keep the information only in one file.

	Finally, I am ready to pay for a specialist, a fair amount, to design the pages of wikipedia for my titles and cover pages of my published books in a way that they become available for the public and they are not deleted.

Although that looks like it, but that is not true, for the following reasons:

	1) I am a published author of 12 volumes of pictorial books for which I worked more than 15 years. Pictorial books are usually produced by the sponsorship of a government or a university or financially strong publishing house. For 1 volume of a scholarly produced pictorial book, between 5 to 20 persons should be hired to perform various tasks related to the production of a pictorial book (--before its publication). For the first time, a free-lanced author has started and completed the production of original, pictorial manuscripts as a post-doctoral, academically oriented project, by the investment of the author for all the costs. The resources that I inputted to complete the 12 volumes ( now published with Amazon/ KDP Select), could have well been used to produce between 200 to 500 books in the West by the use of advanced software such as a dicta-phone and an editing software. Just one picture of a castle in the desert of Iran cost about $500 to travel to that spot by a car rental office (-- no bus, train, car or airplane moves to that location; therefore,a car and a driver should be hired from the nearest city and go to that location and return.) This is just 1 example of about 5000 illustrations about the main features of the traditional architecture in Iran for my books. During the years that I worked on my books, I have not been paid a penny by any person, while a janitor is a Western country earns about $1000 a month and about $12,000 a year and about $120,000 for 10 years. The salary for the holder of a Ph.D. is about $5000 a month, and about $60,000 a year. For more than 20 years working on the production and completion of 20 volumes of architectural books ( 12 volumes of which are now published by Amazon and can be reviewed for free by all people of the world), I must have been paid by a sponsor about $1,200,000 just for time. So far, I have not earned even a penny for my works and my works can be used by all people for free. Introducing my books in Misplaced Pages, is similar to introduce an author and his work in Misplaced Pages, i.e., Gone With the Wind, by Margaret Mitchell; The Invasion of Body Snatchers by Jack Finny. This, I do not think violates the Misplaced Pages policy. There is no conceivable financial benefit from the introduction of my books in Misplaced Pages. Misplaced Pages has allocated space to even introduce famous pornstars. Does that mean that people that see the picture of a pornstar in a wikipedia page will refer to that pornstar and will offer her money to buy love from her? It is impossible that I sell my book via Misplaced Pages.

	2) I have a personal weblog (www.dr-manoochehri-Phd.co.uk) for two years in which my manuscripts and my resume and a copy of my doctoral degree are presented.

	3) 12 volumes of my books are already published by Amazon/ KDP Select.

	4) Misplaced Pages invites all people of the world to create an account. It is written in the top (right) section of the page. When an account is created, the person that creates such account should introduce him/herself. I have created an account, in the userpage of which I have introduced myself and the title of books. It is obvious that people want to know a bit about an author and his/her educational background. I some countries, and I do not mention where, some books are written and published by some interest group that those books are %100 written chatting. They are written by literate people, sometimes with a B.A. degree, to advertise about a topic for their interest. If searched, I am sure that some of this genre of books are also introduced in the Misplaced Pages. It is very unusual that all the Misplaced Pages Team become very obsessd to delete my account so that no name of my books appear in the wikipedia.

	5) I created the second account so that the articles in the deleted account be transferred to it and be saved.

	I hope the above points be read by the team in Misplaced Pages. If you decide to delete the account, that is fine. I cannot have objection to it. But please make all the review of a person intending to create an account prior to the creation not after the creation. Misplaced Pages creates accounts for users very freely and easily, but then the team in the Misplaced Pages exercise the career of deleting accounts and articles.

The article for the ] is, as you note quite developed, due probably to both the length of time the article has slowly evolved, and the numbers of people interested in helping to make incremental improvements. We don't at all expect that anyone, particularly someone new to editing, is going to produce something so extensive on the first try, so I would suggest that your short-term goal be publishing a very basic but very properly formatted/sourced biography. So far as templates, the easiest suggestion would be to simply find a biography that you like, and copy it wholesale, and then swap in Gruber's details into the "shell" of the coding around it. Does that make sense?

	::Regarding using the writeup the Almanack itself has written, there are a few issues with that. Firstly, Misplaced Pages's licensing requires that materials on Misplaced Pages be freely licensed under ]. So if you were to give formal permission to Misplaced Pages to word-for-word post your "About Us" writeup, that material would effectively become Public Domain. There is no option to do a "I grant permission but ''only'' for use on Misplaced Pages itself", because the goal of Misplaced Pages is to be as free as possible. So granting permission (the process is called ]) is a pretty big step, basically full releasing your work for anyone who wants to use it.

	::Separate from copyright issues, the concern is that a writeup by the Almanack itself would have great difficult expressing ]. And a further issue is that while it is completely acceptable for the Almanack to dig up archival materials, old letters, etc. (such being a basic part of research), Misplaced Pages as a ] cannot use materials that come directly from original sources. That is not at all to discredit archival research, but it is because we ''must'' see information in a independent, peer-reviewed, published source before we process it. Such is the nature of an encyclopedia: not cutting-edge new info, but an attempt to holistically present academic/journalist consensus.

	::So combining these points, rather than write "things I know personally" or present the Almanack's take on your stack of archival materials, the most appropriate way to kick off having a Gruber article would be to start simple, and start with information that can be explicitly cited to ] (history books, etc.). If there are points where you really need to cite Almanack materials for non-contentious issues, things like birth location is fine, claims for his achievements not so much because we want independent confirmation. But your main sources should be established independent views of Gruber. 	::You're not quite grasping what we mean by referencing: the page ] might be helpful there. For starters, other Misplaced Pages articles are absolutely not references, you can't cite a book to itself, nor an encyclopedia to itself, that would be circular reasoning. Further, the articles you provided as references don't even mention Maier, so they wouldn't be references even if they were not on Misplaced Pages itself.

	::What we mean by "references" is that for any given statement in the article there should be a "says who?" answer. For example, when you say "He studied oboe with David Sussman at the University of Calgary", you should have a footnote for that sentence which tells the reader "Hey, read this article from the 25 March 2012 ''Calgary Times'', and it notes that Maier studied under Sussman". For ''any'' given sentence in the article, you should give the reader somewhere to find verification. If we didn't have that requirement, people could just make up information, and we and the other readers would have no way of checking it.

I am not trying to be difficult, just trying to understand the wiki-system by asking questions to a human. It is frustrating to read other pages that are up that are poorly sourced.
	As for the sources I sent that don't mention Maier, perhaps you didn't read the full article I sent, as the name "Maier" definitely there or else I wouldn't have posted it. I have no control as to where in the link the name occurs and how much info precedes or follows appears. In these large articles, should make a note as to where in the link the name is mentioned?
	I will take your suggestions and re-submit it. no wiki references and i will cite all things i write.

	::Getting used to the wiki formatting is a bit vexing at first, but gets pretty easy after the first few articles. New Page Patrol newsletter October 2022

Hello MatthewVanitas,

Much has happened since the last newsletter over two months ago. The open letter finished with 444 signatures. The letter was sent to several dozen people at the WMF, and we have heard that it is being discussed but there has been no official reply. A related article appears in the current issue of The Signpost. If you haven't seen it, you should, including the readers' comment section.

Awards: Barnstars were given for the past several years (thanks to MPGuy2824), and we are now all caught up. The 2021 cup went to John B123 for leading with 26,525 article reviews during 2021. To encourage moderate activity, a new "Iron" level barnstar is awarded annually for reviewing 360 articles ("one-a-day"), and 100 reviews earns the "Standard" NPP barnstar. About 90 reviewers received barnstars for each of the years 2018 to 2021 (including the new awards that were given retroactively). All awards issued for every year are listed on the Awards page. Check out the new Hall of Fame also.

Software news: Novem Linguae and MPGuy2824 have connected with WMF developers who can review and approve patches, so they have been able to fix some bugs, and make other improvements to the Page Curation software. You can see everything that has been fixed recently here. The reviewer report has also been improved.

Suggestions:

There is much enthusiasm over the low backlog, but remember that the "quality and depth of patrolling are more important than speed".
Reminder: an article should not be tagged for any kind of deletion for a minimum of 15 minutes after creation and it is often appropriate to wait an hour or more. (from the NPP tutorial)
Reviewers should focus their effort where it can do the most good, reviewing articles. Other clean-up tasks that don't require advanced permissions can be left to other editors that routinely improve articles in these ways (creating Talk Pages, specifying projects and ratings, adding categories, etc.) Let's rely on others when it makes the most sense. On the other hand, if you enjoy doing these tasks while reviewing and it keeps you engaged with NPP (or are guiding a newcomer), then by all means continue.

Backlog:

Saving the best for last: From a July low of 8,500, the backlog climbed back to 11,000 in August and then reversed in September dropping to below 6,000 and continued falling with the October backlog drive to under 1,000, a level not seen in over four years. Keep in mind that there are 2,000 new articles every week, so the number of reviews is far higher than the backlog reduction. To keep the backlog under a thousand, we have to keep reviewing at about half the recent rate!

Backlog

The October drive reduced the backlog from 9,700 to an amazing 0! Congratulations to WaddlesJP13 who led with 2084 points. See this page for further details. The queue is steadily rising again and is approaching 2,000. It would be great if <2,000 were the “new normal”. Please continue to help out even if it's only for a few or even one patrol a day.

2022 Awards

Onel5969 won the 2022 cup for 28,302 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 80/day. There was one Gold Award (5000+ reviews), 11 Silver (2000+), 28 Iron (360+) and 39 more for the 100+ barnstar. Rosguill led again for the 4th year by clearing 49,294 redirects. For the full details see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone!

Minimum deletion time: The previous WP:NPP guideline was to wait 15 minutes before tagging for deletion (including draftification and WP:BLAR). Due to complaints, a consensus decided to raise the time to 1 hour. To illustrate this, very new pages in the feed are now highlighted in red. (As always, this is not applicable to attack pages, copyvios, vandalism, etc.)

New draftify script: In response to feedback from AFC, the The Move to Draft script now provides a choice of set messages that also link the creator to a new, friendly explanation page. The script also warns reviewers if the creator is probably still developing the article. The former script is no longer maintained. Please edit your edit your common.js or vector.js file from User:Evad37/MoveToDraft.js to User:MPGuy2824/MoveToDraft.js

Redirects: Some of our redirect reviewers have reduced their activity and the backlog is up to 9,000+ (two months deep). If you are interested in this distinctly different task and need any help, see this guide, this checklist, and spend some time at WP:RFD.

Discussions with the WMF The PageTriage open letter signed by 444 users is bearing fruit. The Growth Team has assigned some software engineers to work on PageTriage, the software that powers the NewPagesFeed and the Page Curation toolbar. WMF has submitted dozens of patches in the last few weeks to modernize PageTriage's code, which will make it easier to write patches in the future. This work is helpful but is not very visible to the end user. For patches visible to the end user, volunteers such as Novem Linguae and MPGuy2824 have been writing patches for bug reports and feature requests. The Growth Team also had a video conference with the NPP coordinators to discuss revamping the landing pages that new users see.

Backlog

Redirect drive: In response to an unusually high redirect backlog, we held a redirect backlog drive in May. The drive completed with 23851 reviews done in total, bringing the redirect backlog to 0 (momentarily). Congratulations to Hey man im josh who led with a staggering 4316 points, followed by Meena and Greyzxq with 2868 and 2546 points respectively. See this page for more details. The redirect queue is steadily rising again and is steadily approaching 4,000. Please continue to help out, even if it's only for a few or even one review a day.

Redirect autopatrol: All administrators without autopatrol have now been added to the redirect autopatrol list. If you see any users who consistently create significant amounts of good quality redirects, consider requesting redirect autopatrol for them here.

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team, consisting of Sam, Jason and Susana, and also some patches from Jon, has been hard at work updating PageTriage. They are focusing their efforts on modernising the extension's code rather than on bug fixes or new features, though some user-facing work will be prioritised. This will help make sure that this extension is not deprecated, and is easier to work on in the future. In the next month or so, we will have an opt-in beta test where new page patrollers can help test the rewrite of Special:NewPagesFeed, to help find bugs. We will post more details at WT:NPPR when we are ready for beta testers.

Articles for Creation (AFC): All new page reviewers are now automatically approved for Articles for Creation draft reviewing (you do not need to apply at WT:AFCP like was required previously). To install the AFC helper script, visit Special:Preferences, visit the Gadgets tab, tick "Yet Another AFC Helper Script", then click "Save". To find drafts to review, visit Special:NewPagesFeed, and at the top left, tick "Articles for Creation". To review a draft, visit a submitted draft, click on the "More" menu, then click "Review (AFCH)". You can also comment on and submit drafts that are unsubmitted using the script.

You can review the AFC workflow at WP:AFCR. It is up to you if you also want to mark your AFC accepts as NPP reviewed (this is allowed but optional, depends if you would like a second set of eyes on your accept). Don't forget that draftspace is optional, so moves of drafts to mainspace (even if they are not ready) should not be reverted, except possibly if there is conflict of interest.

Pro tip: Did you know that visual artists such as painters have their own SNG? The most common part of this "creative professionals" criteria that applies to artists is WP:ARTIST 4b (solo exhibition, not group exhibition, at a major museum) or 4d (being represented within the permanent collections of two museums).
