I have always asked that we not have one, and it has always been done as a courtesy to me. Part of the reason is
that Misplaced Pages is not a vanity project, and this is not about my ego. However, there are articles about me in other
language Wikipedias and I agree that it is getting to be a little silly.


Hi Jimmy, I've moved your user page edits from their previous location at "Jimbo Wales" to {{noredirect|User:Jimbo Wales/old2}} with ], so they're no longer in the main namespace; the title "{{noredirect|User:Jimbo Wales/old}}" was ]. I then imported edits to your user page from some 2001 database dumps, most notably the one from August 2001, so we can now see ]! I hope this is all OK with you.
I really really REALLY dread the edit wars with trolls, though.


It's a long story how I ended up doing this. So ] is celebrating a milestone of 20% of our biographical articles being about women. In the ], a ] about who was the first woman to get a biographical entry here]]. I was able to give a ] of ] on ]! I've been spending the last couple of days checking the very early edits of the first biographies created around that time, and came upon ] (or ThomasEdison as it was at first in CamelCase). In the process of consolidating the Thomas Edison page history, I moved your edit from "ThomasEdison" to "Thomas Edison"; your early edit to that page on 23 January (UTC) was previously listed as the first one but ].
Perhaps it could be edited but left generally protected. I leave it to the community to decide, though, and drop my
opposition to the idea.


As noted in various places like ], your first surviving edit under the username "JimboWales" was to the ThomasEdison (or Thomas Edison) page. I checked the August 2001 database dump for any earlier ones, found them, and imported to the English Misplaced Pages database. :No problem. Sometimes I guess there will be judgment calls. In this case yours was a good one, because simple vandalism isn't really someone trying to get in touch with me. Basically the point is if a banned user leaves a message here, even if it's sort of a rant, they deserve to be at least heard. But if someone leaves a giant FUCK YOU JIMBO, I guess the world of wiki governance can still proceed usefully if I happen to not see that. :-)

Jimbo, the B-Movie Bandit has sent me 'round to the dark side of the Psycho Moon for the very last time. No sooner does he get unblocked when boom! He's back for more, twice reverting an article and leaving messes for others to clean up.

You have a truly marvelous site, but I'm tired of trying to help it along when the very people who use it just blindly pick up this troll's mess...and I'm the one who catches hell. I am taking a vacation from this site, perhaps this time for good. There are a lot of nice people here and brilliant contributors, but between the B-Movie Bandit and that goddamned vandal bot that hoses this site down on a 24/7 basis my Wiki-sanity is teetering on the brink. Six featured articles and no one seems to give a damn what I think or what I have to offer.
