Hi Samuel. I have read your request on the Wikiproject User Page Design Committee's talk page and most of those changes seem reasonable. We have recently made even more changes to the project. When we created the project, we set out with the only intention being helping other users. As you can see, it's a blue link yet again, and doesn't have deleted page on it. It's apparently not a recreation as it establishes "notability" which was missing before. As the sci-fi.com "site of the week" claims of notability were totally shot down in both AFD and DRV, I really think it should be speedied. - ]]] 14:31, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
:The recreation hinges on an article that mentions the series . I'm not convinced that it magically makes the series notable, but I'm not prepared to simply ignore it by speedying the article. Maybe renominate it for AfD? As the edit summary of the recreation said, ] was contacted about it, and he's indicated he's not sure whether it suffices either but he's not going to make a second nomination. --]] 14:39, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Sorry 'bout that, I'm having major difficulties on my computer...I think it's being hacked or something. Either way, that wasn't me on the Myspace thing (I don't even have one) and i'm not the one deleting your question. I'm going to contact my ISP tomorrow to see if they can do anything.

== ] ==
Sam, please see for the reason for Flameviper12's indefblock, in particular, edit comments like
:''"O, I dunno...just imitating the inimitable style of my dear pal Willy. Wonder how long it'll take for me to be banninated. Anyway, I just realized I could move pages...it took AGES to move a page before now...so happy with my newfound power. I must abuse..."''
do not inspire confidence in Flameviper12's willingness to be a good-faith editor. Note that this page-move cascade started by moving an article-space page (]), and occurred ''after'' Flameviper12 had been unblocked from ''two'' previous indefblocks by promising not to be a vandal any more. (See for block log.) I can't see how Flameviper can legitimately complain about this: this comment shows that he clearly knew at the time that being "banninated" again was a likely consequence of misbehavior.

== Speedy deletion of ] ==
Flameviper12's only response to the block to date has been to , with the edit comment "I don't think so".
A tag has been placed on ] requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under ], because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

:Karada, I don't see what ] had anything to do with ]. Note the name of the page, "Vandal". We all need to blow of some steam now and again. I chose to do so within my own userspace. I still don't see the problem. And Karada, the only reason I have not emailed you is because you have no registered email address. I am upholding my pledge not to vandalise. Please get back to me, <span style= "background: blue"><span style= "color: lime">~</span> ]<span style= "color: lime">-</span>] <span style= "color: lime">12</span> <span style= "color: lime"> (16:06, 25.06.06 UTC)</span></span>
::Flameviper12, I think you knew very well what was going to happen, as your edit comment shows, and that you have been enjoying the attention-seeking cycle of repeatedly making a mess then begging for, and getting, forgiveness.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<tt>&lt;noinclude>&#123;{transclusionless}}&lt;/noinclude></tt>).
::You have now been indefblocked three times. Twice before you have asked to be unblocked, with promises of good behaviour, only to be re-blocked again each time. Now, you have been indefblocked for a third time, this time for a frenzy of WoW-style page moves, complete with all of the characteristic tropes of WoW-style vandalism, and you want to be unblocked yet again. As far as I can tell, you are not "upholding your pledge".

Thanks. <!-- Template:Db-csd-notice-custom --> ]<sup>(] <small>•</small> ])</sup> 06:09, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
::Think about it; if your behaviour consists of taunting edit comments like vandalism, page titles just like vandalism, and the characteristic back-and-forward page moves just like page move vandalism, can't you see that it might just possibly ''actually be'' vandalism? Relying on a technicality to excuse it is simply gaming the system. -- ] 22:46, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

== Admin Coaching: Reconfirmation ==
==Please check ] he is making unfounded personal attacks==
I was looking through the coaches at ] and saw that there are a lot under "reconfirmation".

Could you let me know if you are still interesting in being involved with Admin Coaching, or if you would prefer to have your name removed from the "reconfirmation" list. If you want to be involved, could you please move your entry from "Reconfirmation" to "Active" and indicate how many students you would be willing to have (obviously, if you are actively coaching at the moment, then please indicate this!)
I have a user that is making unfounded accusations and attacks against me. As shown here. I left him a polite warning, but noticed that this has been a discourse of behaviour and that he has been warned for uncivil behaviour in the past. I told him on his talk page to '''be polite and keep all comments directed towards edits and that he has no right to make such accusations and additionally no grounds; I said I will let it pass as a warning and act in good faith and consider it an honest mistake on his part.''' But after looking at his talk page and contributions I have noticed he is making accusations to other editors about me. Maybe as an administrator you can talk to him and see what his problem is. I am not here to fight, I am here to edit and have fun. He has accused me of being anti-Azari when I myself an am Azari!? I would like him to stop making uncivil comments about me to other users and on articl;e talk pages. Anyways thank you, best regards ]

If I do not hear from you within a week, I will assume that you would like to have your name removed from the list of coaches.

:Loremaster sees his editing as a 'fight' and he states: {{quotation|"Although I am convinced that the world is in fact heading toward an ecological catastrophe, I think it can be averted and my optimism makes me want to fight to do do just that."}}

Hi, you uploaded but the copyright status may be in doubt.

You claimed that it was public domain, apparently because it was on an NOAA web site, but do you have evidence that picture was taken by the NOAA? The reason I ask is that has a copy of what is clearly the same image, albeit in higher resolution: . At that site, however, it is credited to "Raskoff/MPC", presumably of the Monterey Peninsula College, and is listed as free for educational use only. This seems to indicate that the image may not be by the NOAA.

Any clarification you could provide on the image source would be helpful.

Replaceable fair use Image:Msscandalous.JPG

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Msscandalous.JPG. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Misplaced Pages articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rettetast (talk) 12:26, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Album swami desirock.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Album swami desirock.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Misplaced Pages's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Misplaced Pages:Media copyright questions. --20:26, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Album_swami_desirock.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Album_swami_desirock.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Misplaced Pages articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Misplaced Pages:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Misplaced Pages policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rettetast (talk) 21:00, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

I need graphics editing help

I noticed you are listed to help people in designing their user pages.

Well, I need help with a similar type of thing - graphics editing.

I'm preparing to coordinate this:
Coming July 15th to the Awards Center: The Around the World Competition. Three types of awards will be presented, including a World Champion Trophy! Hone your advanced tools skills, 'cuz you'll need them! If you'd like to be kept up to date on this and other happenings at the AWC, sign up to receive the AWC Newsletter here.
and for it I'm developing some awards. Each award will include an image, and that's where I need help...

I've got to have all the awards done by July 15th, and I don't even have the first one finished yet.

I'm looking for someone who knows how (or is interested in jumping in and learning how) to work on images in xcf format using GIMP, or Inkscape, etc. (Because I and others will need to be able to edit each image's layers after you are done with it).

If this sounds like something you are interested in helping with, please drop me a note.

By the way, both GIMP and Inkscape are free, making it easy to get started from scratch.

I look forward to your reply.

Admin Coaching: Reconfirmation

I was looking through the coaches at Misplaced Pages:Admin_coaching/Status and saw that there are a lot under "reconfirmation".

If I do not hear from you within a week, I will assume that you would like to have your name removed from the list of coaches.

And yes, I noticed that you are semi-retired from Misplaced Pages, but I thought I'd ask anyway!

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Auchwaricheingauner.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Auchwaricheingauner.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Misplaced Pages may not meet the criteria required by Misplaced Pages:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Misplaced Pages:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Misplaced Pages policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. Biased editing of Technological Utopianism by Loremaster.

Biased editing of Technological Utopianism by Loremaster.

Due to your past contribution to Technological utopianism, you may currently want to help editing the Technological utopianism article because currently only one editor is contributing to the article. The Singularitarianism Article could also benefit from your help.

I feel Loremaster is editing Singularitarianism and Technological utopianism in a biased manner in accordance with his Save The Earth propaganda. Loremasters's ideology seems to verge towards Neo-Luddism. Here are the damming facts Loremaster has stated in discussion:

Loremaster says he is:

"...critical of techno-utopianism in all its forms."

Loremaster wants people to:

"...stop indulging in techno-utopian fantasies... ...so that we can all focus on energies on saving the planet."

Loremaster sees his editing as a 'fight' and he states:

"Although I am convinced that the world is in fact heading toward an ecological catastrophe, I think it can be averted and my optimism makes me want to fight to do do just that."

81.151.135.248 (talk) 12:12, 18 December 2010 (UTC)JB

  1. LOL
  2. Despite the fact that I openly admit to being a technorealist who is critical of techno-utopianism in all its forms, I have let never this point of view influence any of my edits or reverts of the Technological utopianism or Singularitarianism articles. On the contrary, I am the person most responsible for expanding the former article with content some would argue is “pro-techno-utopian” (i.e. passages from James Hughes' book Citizen Cyborg).
  3. I find it disgusting that 81.151.135.248 would take comments I made out of context to falsely make it seem I see my editing of any article as part of my fight for the environment.
  4. In light of this outrageous act of bad faith, I will do everything in my power to get this jerk banned from Misplaced Pages.

File:Paul_clarkin.jpg

I have tagged File:Paul_clarkin.jpg as a disputed use of non-free media, because there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please clarify your fair use rationale on the image description page. Thank you. Closedmouth (talk) 10:07, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

Suspension of admin privileges due to inactivity

Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative privileges of users who have been inactive for one year, meaning administrators who have made neither any edits nor any logged actions in over one year. As a result of this discussion, your administrative privileges have been removed pending your return. If you wish to have these privileges reinstated, please post to the Misplaced Pages:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e., as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised and that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions). This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts. Non-free rationale for File:Imwahlkampfvormir.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Imwahlkampfvormir.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Misplaced Pages is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:35, 12 August 2011 (UTC)

File:Scyphomedusae_Chrysaora_melanaster.jpg

Hi, you uploaded File:Scyphomedusae_Chrysaora_melanaster.jpg but the copyright status may be in doubt.

You claimed that it was public domain, apparently because it was on an NOAA web site, but do you have evidence that picture was taken by the NOAA? The reason I ask is that this site has a copy of what is clearly the same image, albeit in higher resolution: Chrysaora_melanaster-2-800x600.jpg. At that site, however, it is credited to "Raskoff/MPC", presumably Kevin Raskoff of the Monterey Peninsula College, and is listed as free for educational use only. This seems to indicate that the image may not be by the NOAA.

Any clarification you could provide on the image source would be helpful.

Notice of change

Hello. You are receiving this message because of a recent change to the administrator policy that alters what you were told at the time of your desysopping. The effect of the change is that you will not longer be able to request restoration of the tools because of your prior inactivity. You have until December 30, 2012 to request restoration or else the policy will prevent you from doing so in the future; you would need to seek a new WP:RFA. Until December 30, you can file a request at WP:BN for review by the crats. Thank you. MBisanz 04:22, 3 December 2012 (UTC)

Samantha Findlay

You were the deleting admin on the Samantha Findlay article in 2006. At that time, Findlay had completed her freshman year, and the AfD debate was based on her limited contributions as a college player in her freshman year. Her career progressed substantially thereafter, including (i) being named an All-American in 2008, (ii) setting several career hitting records at Michigan, (iii) being the subject of numerous articles in mainstream media, (iv) playing professional softball for four years, and (v) becoming a coach at DePaul. She now seems to pretty clearly pass WP:GNG. Nevertheless, if you have any concerns with this article being re-created, please let me know. Cbl62 (talk) 22:45, 8 July 2013 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Perzonal War

The article Perzonal War has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Seemingly hardly much for a better article as well as notability with my searches also only finding a few passing mentions.

While all constructive contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
