Her mother, who is also a music teacher, was her first guru. Spoorthi has a brother, Samarth Rao, who is two years younger to her. According to her mother, Spoorthi developed an interest towards music at an early age, and learned to sing along while listening to her mother practice. She started her music training under the tutelage of light music teacher Narahari Dixith, Tabla guru Pt. Spoorthi, during the course of the competition, which ran for almost a year, received favourable reviews and comments from the programme judges and popular personalities from Indian music and film industry appearing in the show as special guests.
