BEFORE YOU POST HERE: Please realize that this user was NOT blocked for vandalism, joking, or 'poking fun at Misplaced Pages'. This user was banned for violation of Misplaced Pages's Username policies which state that "Names of well-known living or recently deceased people" are inappropriate and should be indefinitely blocked until confirming evidence (in this case, from Stephen Colbert or Comedy Central) shows that this is, in fact, Stephen Colbert. Although Mr. Colbert 'made the edits on national television', he was also joking and it is not at all certain if he was in fact the person who made the edits attributed to this account. Until the blocking administrator (Tawker) receives word from Stephen Colbert or Comedy Central that this is Mr. Colbert, this account will remain blocked.

Block pending identity confirmation

At Misplaced Pages, we appreciate your interest in the project, but your username matches a well-known public personality. To protect against impersonation, please provide confirmation of your identity to regain access to this account. User:Tawker has sent an emailed request and left a voicemail with the Colbert staff requesting confirmation, let him know and this account can be re-opened. His request was sent from tawker @ hotmail.com, and he is our point of contact for this issue. This is being done to protect the actual Stephen Colbert from impersonation. If you are not him, then please review the Wikpedia username policy to pick another handle. Thanks for your patience! - CHAIRBOY () and the rest of the WP admin staff. 05:38, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

It has become fairly obvious that this account was not created or owned by Stephen Colbert of the Colbert Report, it shall remain blocked to protect Mr Colbert's "wikiality". If Comedy or its duly authorized agents wish to make claim to this account an email to OTRS will be the best way to contact this site. Information can be found on this site. -- Tawker 02:42, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Please remove the block notice per WP:DENY and the TFD here: Misplaced Pages:Templates_for_discussion/Log/2019_April_17#Template:Blocked_user. The bottom part can remain though. Aasim - Herrscher of Wikis ❄️ 20:43, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
