Bashiru has received several fellowship awards, such as the fellowship of the ] and Soil Science Society of Nigeria . He his a fellow of Corporate Administration of Nigeria and in recognition of his immense contributions to science and the field of soil science, he was honored with a Life membership of Science Association of Nigeria and Soil Science Society of Nigeria. He served as assistant secretary to the Soil Science Society of Nigeria for 4 years (1999-2003) before he became the Treasurer of the society till date. He is a member of several academic organisations such as the Indian Soil Science Society, Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society, Nigerian Society of Remote Sensing and All African Soil Science Society. Bashiru Ademola Raji, FAAS is a Nigerian professor of soil science, Pedologist, geologist, environmental impact assessment expert and the former Vice chancellor of Fountain University, Osogbo.

He was the second substantive Vice chancellor of the University. His research interest is in the area of soil survey, Land-use planning, environmental impact assessment of natural resource utilization and Pedology, the study of soils in their natural environment. It deals with Pedogenesis, the science and study of the processes that lead to the formation of soil and first explored by the Russian geologist Vasily Dokuchaev.

He is the president of the Soil Science Society of Nigeria.
