Well, that's interesting. I didn't know it was so similar. I'm not sure how "close" things should be in the "See also" section. Let me get back to you, I'm going to ask around on the WikiProject Film area. Ok?  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 00:22, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Dymytrii Sydor

A tag has been placed on Dymytrii Sydor, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Misplaced Pages:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

Well, instead of writing "Article needed," please write what you want the article to say, and voilà.  Blanchardb -- timed 16:41, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

But first, read WP:Your first article. If you do not want to write an article yourself, the place to ask for one is WP:Requested articles. JohnCD (talk) 16:58, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

Georgia's secession declaration

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Georgia's secession declaration (my note: Declaration_of_independence, and it appears to be a substantial copy of http://avalon.law.yale.edu/19th_century/csa_geosec.asp. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Misplaced Pages:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.)

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 04:46, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Georgia's secession declaration

A tag has been placed on Georgia's secession declaration requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done because the article consists of a dictionary definition or other article that has been transwikied to another project and the author information recorded.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Lakota

The actual text of the Republic of Lakotah declaration of independence (my note: s:Republic of Lakotah declaration of independence is source material and should be published in Wikisource or your own website. A short article explaining the significance of the declaration would probably be accepted. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 06:10, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

Barry Hinckley

Please do not recreate Barry Hinckley again. There was a discussion at Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Barry Hinckley about the article and the result was redirect to United States Senate election in Rhode Island, 2012. Toddst1 (talk) 12:59, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

Hello, Scott Illini. You have new messages at Toddst1's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

October 2011

This is your last warning. The next time you disrupt Misplaced Pages, as you did at Barry Hinckley, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Toddst1 (talk) 04:54, 22 October 2011 (UTC)

Not exactly a fun experience for me either.

WP:BRD

Ever heard of WP:BRD? William M. Connolley (talk) 11:21, 24 January 2012 (UTC)

3RR

Please be aware of WP:3RR which you're in danger of breaking at global warming. Please note also Even without a 3RR violation, an administrator may still act if they believe a user's behavior constitutes edit warring, and any user may report edit-warring with or without 3RR being breached. The rule is not an entitlement to revert a page a specific number of times. William M. Connolley (talk) 20:08, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

You have been blocked temporarily from editing for edit warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.

Vsmith (talk) 21:38, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

All's well that end's well.

Founders Fund

I noticed that your addition of investments to the Founders Fund article was reverted as unsourced. I know it's hecka work but it's a fair request to find a citation for all of these investments to verify that there are no errors and to make it easier to source and edit the section going forward. Notability probably isn't the issue as all these are wikilinks to notable companies, really just WP:V. I'll see if I can find a few,I've found one source that verified most of them, perhaps you can supply the rest. Thanks, - Wikidemon (talk) 00:53, 1 February 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for April 9

Hi. When you recently edited Gary Ackerman, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Amendment (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, Scott Illini (talk) 22:47, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

Transjordan

The response to your changes has been quite strong because a lot of work has been done to properly source the article around this topic. If you read the article thoroughly and look at the quotes in the footnotes and the underlying linked sources, it should become clearer. Appreciate your contribution here, but to keep emotions down it would be better to keep it to the talk page after your bold edits were reverted. The wording in both article could be clearer, so it would be good to agree some redrafting. Scott Illini (talk) 22:47, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

Nomination of Druker v. Commissioner of Internal Revenue for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Druker v. Commissioner of Internal Revenue is suitable for inclusion in Misplaced Pages according to Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

Career politician

Scott, this is a copy of a message I just sent to User:GeoffreyVS

Hi Geoff, I reverted your removal of User:Scott_Illini's addition of "career politician" to the Max Baucus lede. I stumbled onto this issue because Illini reverted a similar addition that I had made to the article for Tom McClintock, with a comment identical to the one you made about Baucus. The fact that "career politician" has a negative connotation does not change the fact that Baucus and McClintock are both career politicians by any reasonable meaning of the phrase. One could hardly object to describing a member of the National Socialist Movement (United States) as a neo-Nazi just because "Nazi" is an epithet. Cheers, Lahaun (talk) 04:06, 14 February 2013 (UTC)

Angus Davis

Hello, Scott Illini, and thank you for your contributions!

An article you worked on Angus Davis, appears to be directly copied from http://www.crunchbase.com/person/angus-davis. Please take a minute to make sure that the text is freely licensed and properly attributed as a reference, otherwise the article may be deleted.

It's entirely possible that this bot made a mistake, so please feel free to remove this notice and the tag it placed on Angus Davis if necessary. MadmanBot (talk) 21:35, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Angus Davis

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Angus Davis requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Misplaced Pages takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Misplaced Pages to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Misplaced Pages:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Misplaced Pages:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. —Ignatzmicecontribs 21:50, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

It never had any images. If he/she would restore it we could have a rational discussion on the article Talk page. But I'm not going to start over for no reason. This admin behavior is a great way to scare away good faith Misplaced Pages volunteers. Scott Illini (talk) 23:29, 14 April 2013 (UTC)

WP:EL

Please stop spamming twits. Per WPEL only links that are shown to provide valuable information for an encyclopedia reader should be included. We are not here to provide social media walls. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 21:59, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

"Except for a link to an official page of the article's subject", which these are. For instance, Naomi Wolf is an author and commentator and her Twitter is obviously relevant if you took the time to look. I'm happy to stop doing this work since you asked and I have other things to do, but I do want to restore the work I already did. And BTW, Twitter has no "wall".Scott Illini (talk) 22:11, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
Also, you obviously did a blanket revert of all my edits without really considering them, including here and here. Clearly this is not neighborly. Yes, you later reverted yourself on the non-Twitter ones, but I think it is clear that you did not consider these edits individually before blanking them. Scott Illini (talk) 22:58, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
Welcome to Misplaced Pages. Please familiarise yourself with the relevant policy (I would suggest WP:ELOFFICIAL for starters), rather than merely blanking content on your usual whim. Andy Dingley (talk) 22:30, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

Help requested

Given this how was Angus Davis an "unambiguous copyright violation"? Scott Illini (talk) 04:31, 14 April 2013 (UTC)

That site states directly that it is made up of user contributed material. At the bottom you'll see this:

"Like all of the content in CrunchBase, Media Files can be uploaded and edited by anyone with an Internet connection and are not subject to monitoring by the CrunchBase staff.

This means that any of the material or media may very well not be the property of the contributor, but could be taken from anywhere and placed on the site. This means that the CC-BY license isn't backed by a sufficient copyright claim and isn't trustworthy. INeverCry 06:52, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
"By uploading data and media files to CrunchBase, you grant permission to CrunchBase and other sites to access under the conditions of Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY) and that third parties will provide attribution by linking to CrunchBase. You should not upload media files that cannot be offered under CC-BY or another compatible license." That addresses copyright. As to trustworthiness, please put the article back and I'll add some citations. Thanks. Scott Illini (talk) 19:50, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
That doesn't address copyright. These uploaders and contributors may not have the right to release their contributions under a free license, considering that they may not be the actual copyright holders of the material. "You should not" doesn't mean people won't or don't contribute and upload material that is copyrighted by others without their knowledge or permission. I'm not going to restore the article. INeverCry 19:57, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
The same thing can be said for Misplaced Pages contributors and Misplaced Pages content. Please restore, let me edit for 24 hours and add cites, and then let someone else weigh in on this. Scott Illini (talk) 22:44, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
The same thing can't be said about Misplaced Pages, because here we have to directly source content, or that content can be removed.
I offered to add citations.Scott Illini (talk) 23:55, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
Here we have oversight, which CrunchBase directly states they don't have. I'm not going to restore it. If you want to ask someone else, feel free. INeverCry23:07, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
Yes, we have oversight, we can request citations, we can flag content, etc. You are actively pre-empting that oversight process. You are penalizing authors for having first authored content on CrunchBase, and declaring that content poisonous because it was first posted elsewhere. That makes no sense. If I first posted something on WikipediaPrime, and then migrated it here, you would delete it because WikipediaPrime lacks "oversight"? But if I first posted it here, that would be okay? Your demand that content be exclusively posted to Misplaced Pages first negates the collaborative value of creative commons licensing. Scott Illini (talk) 23:55, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
You're not understanding me. I'm saying that the contributors of CrunchBase can steal the work of others and post it on CrunchBase as their own under a free license if they want to. In any event, I'm not going to restore the article. Period. INeverCry 00:02, 15 April 2013 (UTC)
That work is a valid Creative Commons work. It is no different than a Creative Commons image, and such images are added to Misplaced Pages all the time. Your personal theory that CrunchBase is a den of nefarious activity is unwarranted and unsourced. Scott Illini (talk) 00:20, 15 April 2013 (UTC)

Means of Production

The correct phrase is, "the means of production," not "means of production". I notice that you've been changing all pages with "the MOP", to "MOP" without the "the". This is just plain wrong and I've undone your edits. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sigiheri (talkcontribs) 20:28, 15 April 2013 (UTC)

April 2013

Hello, and welcome to Misplaced Pages. You appear to be engaged in an edit war with one or more editors according to your reverts at Resource. Although repeatedly reverting or undoing another editor's contributions may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Misplaced Pages this is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, and often creates animosity between editors. Instead of edit warring, please try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. While edit warring on Misplaced Pages is not acceptable in any amount, breaking the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block. Thank you. This notice will be posted on Sigiheri's talkpage as well.S. Rich (talk) 23:10, 15 April 2013 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Miguel Hernández Souquett

The article Miguel Hernández Souquett has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

A violation of WP:BLP1E

While all constructive contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Lenticel 03:02, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

Jews in the Hellenistic and Roman Cities

I don’t think I am miss reading Jews in the Hellenistic and Roman Cities. Maybe my wording was bad but here is what the source says. Both sources mention the census but only Jews in the Hellenistic and Roman Cities is clear about why.

Top of page 105 Bar-Hebraeus’ figure is a mangling of Eusebius’ report of a census of Roman citizens and does not refer to the number of Jews;

Bottom of page 106 and Lo Cascio now makes a strong case that Beloch was wrong about the Augustan census figures. This is an extremely fragile chain of argument. I do not believe we have the first notion of how many Jews there were in the ancient world, Jonney2000 (talk) 04:53, 12 January 2014 (UTC)

RFAR evidence

Hi, Scott. You probably noticed I reverted your edit at the Lightbreather case evidence page? There are strict rules for those pages, and you can't edit another person's section. I'm not a clerk, but I saw it so I spontaneously reverted it; if I hadn't, an arbitration clerk would have done it a little later. (And in fact I probably should have left it to the clerks.) Anyway, I'm sorry, because you obviously added evidence in good faith. Perhaps you thought you didn't have enough material to create your own section? That's what you have to do, though. The individual sections can be small, that's not a problem. An alternative might be to contact Faceless Enemy and ask them to take ownership of your example, and add it to the section themselves. Regards, Bishonen | talk 08:51, 13 May 2015 (UTC).

Discretionary sanctions notice

This message contains important information about an administrative situation on Misplaced Pages. It does not imply any misconduct regarding your own contributions to date.

Please carefully read this information:

The Arbitration Committee has authorised discretionary sanctions to be used for pages regarding Abortion, a topic which you have edited. The Committee's decision is here.

Discretionary sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimize disruption to controversial topics. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to the topic that do not adhere to the purpose of Misplaced Pages, our standards of behavior, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. This message is to notify you sanctions are authorised for the topic you are editing. Before continuing to edit this topic, please familiarise yourself with the discretionary sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.

Is that a joke? It's hard to imagine a more obviously unsuitable source. If this only covered in one ideological corner of the blogosphere, it shouldn't be in WP. (To say nothing of matters of weight, location, etc.) --JBL (talk) 20:28, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

I would reinforce Joel's comment about the unsuitability of the sources you're inserting. I see that you've been notified, above, about the discretionary sanctions covering abortion-related material on Misplaced Pages. I couldn't tell if you've been notified that these pages are also subject to 1RR (a one-revert rule), meaning that no editor should revert more than once in a 24-hour period. I don't think you've breached this standard, but wanted to make sure you were aware of its existence. MastCell  20:42, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Misplaced Pages arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Your recent editing history at Number of guns per capita by country‎‎ shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
You deletion is not according a consensus and only disruptive. ZH8000 (talk) 00:44, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
