Articles which are the focus of dispute that comes before the ] may be placed on '''article probation'''. The usual reason is the dispute in question results in point of view editing, sustained edit warring, or other quality and policy issues. The Committee may continue to exercise jurisdiction over such articles until the major problems with the articles have been resolved by the Misplaced Pages editing process.
{{dispute-resolution}}
This remedy permits more flexibility with legitimate articles which have serious problems, and allows more effective resolution of disputes where the articel is more in need of improvement then the disputants of sanctions. The Arbitration Committee may make recommendations regarding improvement of articles but shall not involve themselves with content issues.

Continuing jurisdiction may involve monitoring of the editing of articles over a period of time and the application of restrictions on editing by users who engage in edit warring or other disruptive behavior. This gives an opportunity for users who have edit warred or disrupted the article in the past by tendentious editing to change their behavior to more productive modes.

When the Committee believes that the articlel is no longer subject to the disputes which lead to the probation, it may revoke probation by passing a "[[WP:RFAR#Motions in prior cases|motion in a prior case".
