The only people who are allowed to vote for the ] are those who are members of the National Academy of the Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS). In order to be a member you need to have worked on 6 albums (In terms of production, engineering, mixing, or being the recording artist). NARAS members are peers of all who submit their work to the recording Academy. NARAS members are to vote based upon the quality of the work that has been submitted. It is highly stressed to voting NARAS members not to look at sales or charts when voting. Artists, producers, engineers/mixers or record companies are allowed to make submissions to the Recording Academy. The Deadline for all submissions for the 49th Annual ] is ], ]. Nomminating ballots are sent to NARAS members by ], ] which is after the ] recording year ends. On the ballot you are allowed to nomminated any of the work submitted. The artists who recieved the top 5 most votes become the nomminees for the 49th Annual ]. (Note: fewer or less than 5 nomminees is the result of a tie). The nomminations will be announced on ], ]. The voting ballots will be mailed to every NARAS member. They are all allowed to vote in the General field which includes the awards for Record, Album & Song of the Year as well as Best New Artist. NARAS members can vote in 8 other fields however the Latin field is voted on by members of the Latin Academy of the Recording Arts & Sciences (LARAS). Many well respected names in Music have released albums in ]. A lot are previous winners. Some of them include ], ], ], ], The ], ] and many more. She has won many ]. Many believe that ]'s "Back to Basics" might be able to win big. She has won 3 grammys to this date and many believe that voters might take that into consideration. They may not want to give awards to someone who has won really big in the past but to someone who has won a few. Her album has a lot of Jazz and blues influence. In 2003 ]'s "Come Away with Me" had a lot of Jazz influence in it. It may have got the voting members who just vote in the Jazz field to come to vote in the Pop and General Fields as well. That might have been why she won Album of the Year beating out rock legend ]. Many fans of Jazz and Blues have been impressed by ]. If she can get people in the Jazz and Blues field to come out to vote for her in the pop and general fields she might be able to win big or perhaps make Grammy history.
