Thanks to its location along the main caravan routes linking ] with the ], the craftsmanship, trade and the economy have been highly developed in the city. Garabaghlar is a ] tribe. They are one of the branch of the ancient kangar tribe. At the beginning of the first century AD, kangars who settled in the territory of ], lived in the western part of the ] (now ]-] region), and also lived in ]. One of their branches has been called Garabaghlar. It cohere with the information of the 10th century author Konstantin Baqryanarodnıy about a tribe called qarabay one of the tribes of ], who lived in the fields of Southern ]. In the middle of the 18th century, the khan of the ], ] has resettled part of the kangarli tribes which was known as a warlike tribe from the Nakhchivan to the Karabakh. Presumably, the tribe of Garabagh have been among them.
