Requested move 28 December 2018

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Not moved. The IP was blocked as an obvious sock. Anyone who feels strongly about the title is free to start their own RM. Thanks. Lugnuts 10:41, 30 December 2018 (UTC)

Museum (2018 film)MuseoWP:COMMONNAME. Reviews and promo materials as evidence, with no contrary evidence. The film played at the Berlin Film Festival and some sources titled it "Museum" there, but when released theatrically seven months later, all sources titled it "Museo". Metacritic, Twitter, Facebook, Film Forum, Ebert, NYT, Trailer, Variety, Chicago Tribune, WSJ, Film Journal, LAT. 213.205.242.131 (talk) 17:10, 28 December 2018 (UTC)

  • Comment: I can't make heads or tails of this as Ref #1 does not mention the subject, Ref #2 is a dead link, and Refs #3 and #4 call the film "Museum". So I'm leaning "oppose" based on the evidence presented. --IJBall (contribstalk) 17:32, 28 December 2018 (UTC)
Web archive of the Berlin FF site shows it as Museum Lugnuts 17:49, 28 December 2018 (UTC)
Berlin is irrelevant. The film was released long after that. 213.205.242.131 (talk) 18:29, 28 December 2018 (UTC)
He's a source from variety. --Gonnym (talk) 18:16, 28 December 2018 (UTC)
Thanks, Gonnym. I've now posted several other sources above. 213.205.242.131 (talk) 19:33, 28 December 2018 (UTC)
And one from The Hollywood Reporter (for Museum). But what are the chances of an IP editor just popping up and knowing how to do a RM and cite a core policy? Unless, of course, it's a sock of a blocked user who has form in this area, such as Film Fan, for example. Lugnuts 18:28, 28 December 2018 (UTC)
I've now posted evidence above, IJBall. 213.205.242.131 (talk) 19:33, 28 December 2018 (UTC)
There are no other articles titled Museo. 213.205.242.131 (talk) 19:33, 28 December 2018 (UTC)
WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT - inflections and variations of a word usually redirect to the base article for that word. Redirecting a non-English vocabulary word fits that bill. Since museo must redirect to museum, the film needs disambiguation. -- Netoholic @ 19:43, 28 December 2018 (UTC)
No, that doesn't apply to foreign words. 213.205.242.131 (talk) 21:28, 28 December 2018 (UTC)
Per Misplaced Pages:Naming conventions (use English) - Redirects from native and other historically relevant names are encouraged. -- Netoholic @ 22:10, 28 December 2018 (UTC)
You misunderstand the policy. You only redirect from native names when you're redirecting to an article that is relevant to that country/language. Redirecting Museo to Museum makes little sense here. The word "museo" is not relevant to the "museum" article. It isn't mentioned there. Even a hatnote linking to the "museum" article is not required. Anyone looking up "museo" won't be looking for anything besides this film. 213.205.242.131 (talk) 01:39, 29 December 2018 (UTC)
  • Support since English-language sources from this month (Variety and NBC News) write Museo. I searched for the director and actor together without the title, and these came up, so there was no inherent search bias for either Museo or Museum. Erik (talk | contrib) 21:52, 28 December 2018 (UTC)
  • Museo (film) and redirect 'Museo' to Museum, per Netoholic. Museo means museum, the film is not the primary. Randy Kryn (talk) 23:46, 28 December 2018 (UTC)
The existence of a dictionary definition does not mean that definition is the primary topic and anything else has to be disambiguated. Inception is a word that does not warrant an encyclopedic article, so it is used for the one film called that. Someone looking up "Museo" on the English-language Misplaced Pages should not be considered to be looking for a Spanish-language article about museums. Though I think a hatnote saying that "museo" means "museum" at this film's article post-move would be fine. Erik (talk | contrib) 00:25, 29 December 2018 (UTC)
  • Before redirecting museo to museum (if applicable), verify it does not go against WP:RFOREIGN. © Tbhotch (en-2.5). 02:42, 29 December 2018 (UTC)

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
