'''Semi-protation''' requested due to ongoing vandalism by IPVandals. Previously denied ("nea"), but looking at the last 100, last 200 edits, I find it hard to believe that semi-protection isn't warranted. ] is putting up the article ] for deletion. I wrote the article and it simply lists notorious people, members of serb army, who commited horrible attrocities during the wars on the Balkans. I feel like that user Duja want's, in some way, to hide these crimes and even perhaps deny them by constantly putting up, a totally fundamental and true article, for deletion. '''Full protection'''. ] has been flaming on the talk page for this article, with various highly dubious 'evidence' of unspecified anamolies around crop circles. He has recently been adding this material to the article, with no support from other editors (one of his main reasons for including the material was that no editors had objected, or, more likely, had bothered to respond to the flaming). I at one point debunked all of the 'evidence' he offered, over the course of several hours and iterations. I eventually concluded that he would not accept any of mine, or other editors', reasoning, and ceased to reply in hopes of the flaming eventually dying out. I am loath to request a block on Tommysun, because he has not blatantly vandalized, but I request protection of the article until there is an obvious consensus, either for his additions or against them. I personally am against them, but if there were consesus for addition, I would not object. Semi-protection is needed to prevent anonymous users making political statements. They can't be bothered to register on Misplaced Pages, can't be bothered to join the project group, it just shows there is no commitment to work constructively and that their purpose is one of politics only. ===={{La|Demographics of Taiwan}}====
'''Unprotection'', since there have been editors imposing politically disputed views in this page, more specifically that Taiwanese are Han Chinese. During a recent article, a full 66% of Taiwanese reject the view that they are Chinese, but these people continue to impose their views that Taiwanese are Han Chinese. I've tried to mediate without much success. I've suggest a compromise. I've even offered DNA evidence that showed that Taiwanese, mainly Hoklo and Hakka are descendents of the Yueh peoples, not Han Chinese from the North. My compromise would be that the term Han Chinese not be used, because the term Han Chinese is very misleading. Now, they have protection on this page and I can't do anything to remove what I think is misinformation. The views about Taiwanese people being Chinese is politically charged because that is the view that the PRC wants us to believe and could be used to justify their claim to the island. So if possible, could you help me remove the term Chinese or Han Chinese from this page. Thank you.

===={{La|Taiwanese people}}====
'''Unprotection''', as the same people are spreading the views and refusing to compromise. They are blocking and protecting all pages relating to Taiwan and the Taiwanese people. I think this is politically motivated. I just want to remove politically sensitive material from these pages, but they refuse. I don't know whether they are working for the PRC or the KMT, but their views are not objective. Its political leaning favors PRC. I've repeated showed evidence that Taiwanese are not Han Chinese based on DNA evidence, but they refuse to listen and keep putting the term Chinese back to describe Taiwanese, which is erroneous. I feel the ethnicity of Taiwanese is for native Taiwanese like myself to decide, rather than Chinese on the Mainland. The Taiwanese language is different from the Chinese language. I've tried to point out the Taiwanese is ethnically unique based on culture and language. And that the only reason people on Taiwan speak Chinese today are because of 50 years of rule by colonizers. Had the Japanese won World War II, the people would have been considered Japanese, according to their view, because the population would now be speaking Japanese and enjoying Japanese culture. Also, these editors ignore that fact that most Taiwanese still speak Taiwanese language as their mother tongue at home, not Chinese. By allowing these biased individuals to protect the page, you are giving them the incentive NOT TO COMPROMISE since they feel they control the board. Please unprotect this page for this reason. ] 16:58, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

===={{La|Breast implant}}====

Last night I requested that the Breast Implant article be unprotected because the protected version is NPOV and contains numerous factual errors. The protected version was drastically revised by a plastic surgeon who deleted almost any mention of implant problems, even from peer-reviewed published research and FDA regulatory guidelines. The protected version also includes promotional web sites where plastic surgeons pay to be listed -- thus turning this article into unpaid advertisements for specific doctors.

I explained several of the errors, omisions, and problems on the Discussion page. Several readers agreed with me. At one point the article was unprotected and someone (not me) reverted it back to a better version of the article that I had worked on. Success! Several people agreed with the new, more accurate version, including 2 doctors, a public health professional, and others who didn't identify their expertise.

Then a little while later, it was reverted back to the inaccurate, biased version and protected by Samir, a monitor (I think) who tells us to "duke it out." Of course, we can't duke it out, because the plastic surgeon who wrote the current version is happy that it is protected and has no incentive to compromise. He won't listen to reason, even when we give him direct quotes from the articles he has cited incorrectly.

I'm also confused by the notion of "duking it out." This is a medical article, not a movie review. If a statement is factually untrue it should be corrected regardless of how many people think the statement is accurate and how good they are at duking it out.

As a former faculty member at Yale and Vassar, and current director of a research institute, I have published on this issue and other health issues. I would be glad to explain every edit that needs to be made. Can you help me to improve the article and then protect it from future vandalism? Misplaced Pages will lose good editors if their hard work is ignored and they are told to "duke it out." ] 00:02, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
:This page was protected after the following series of reversions over a 24 hour period: , , , , , , , , . I think discussion needs to take place here. Even a casual glance at ] and the numerous ad hominem attacks against myself for protecting this page will show that "duking it out" is an apt synopsis of what's going on at that article -- ] 03:15, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

I'm requesting a semi-protection as the constant addition of wrong information to the Spinosaurus article is tiresome to constantly revert & is harmful to the article. The editors who are writing the article are experienced in the field of dinosaurs, and have sources. Although the "vandalism" (if you could call it that) has been happeneing in a speradic fashion over a length of time, the ip address's hinderance is becoming an annoyance. It is also confusing newer editors who have seen the page's numerous different editions of information (re: Spinosaurus talk). Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.
    Shortcuts

    Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

    After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

    Reason: Plane crashes are usually protected in the immediate aftermath of the incident to prevent misinformation. This one should be no different, especially considering the wide media coverage and the different unconfirmed theories about what happen, such as a potential Russian shootdown or a bird strike. It appears to have been listed under RUSUKR following the initial. Does it count now? Borgenland (talk) 07:55, 26 December 2024 (UTC)

    Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – While it's not technically vandalism, there have been repeated edits by new and IP editors in recent weeks to add "Sr." 12/17 12/25 12/25. While now he's often refered to as "Sr." due to Dale Earnhardt, Jr. at the time of his career and life he wasn't, and even now he's usually only known as "Dale Earnhardt". Requesting temporary protection so that this disruption can stop and, if needed, discussion can take place on the talk page. The Bushranger One ping only 06:52, 26 December 2024 (UTC)

    Current requests for reduction in protection level

    Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level Request unprotection Shortcuts

    Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

    Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Reason: Lil Dicky was semi-protected back in 2019. Now that five years have passed, could the semi-protection be lifted? I asked the protecting administrator and received no response. 174.93.89.27 (talk) 00:25, 26 December 2024 (UTC)

    Adding a little contextual info, this same request was declined 8 hrs before this by ToBeFree. IP did contact Protecting admin (Materialscientist on Dec 22) before the first request, but Materialscientist has not replied to that, and has replied to a different discussion just below that one since then (on Dec 24). Reason: It appears that the article has had Pending Changes enabled since 2017. The admin protecting the page hasn't made any edits since 2018. I don't think the current history of the article warrants Pending Changes being enabled. Rockfang (talk) 02:57, 26 December 2024 (UTC)

    Current requests for edits to a protected page

    Request a specific edit to a protected page
    Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here Request edit Shortcut

    Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
